For application of 8 Mansions, use house gua.
House gua is based on the 8 house-facing directions.
Life gua is only used for sleeping and stove direction for each individual.

Hi All Kitchen lovers,
don't worry so much about the kitchen's feng shui. It is only a small component of your house's overall feng shui.
The main factor is the surrounding mountains and water around the building or landed property. If the external Qi is good, you may be able to tap into it with the help of a competent FSM.
Everybody, including plenty of those half-baked masters, spend so much time focusing on the areas like dining room, living room and toilet when all these hardly have an effect on your house's feng shui. The one factor that matters most - the external - is excluded from any meaningful debate and discussion.
It's like studying 5 topics which are not in the syllabus. Everybody missed out on the one topic that would appear in the exam.

But i have a concern look at the circle in the image , which is my corridor path. the pretruling part pointing in the right side of my door

Hi,
if it's possible, just place a potted plant that is about 3 feet tall next to the sharp edge.
This is a common problem for apartment units with common corridor.
Any type of plant would be fine.

Hi,
for a start, there's no missing sector which is one plus point for internal environment.
the most impt factor is the external environment which should be assessed by a qualified FSM, not the typical half-baked FSM.
If your external is not beneficial, then there's little good Qi for you to tap into.
If the external is good, then you need to know if your main door is located in the right direction. Even if it's not, there's nothing you could do as you are not allowed to move your main door unless you stay in landed property.
Those FSMs I had tried in the past all walked into my house and started turning it into a museum with their recommendations of dragons, horses and paintings. None talked about the external except for "ok lah" remark.
I don't think they were even trained to do a proper assessment of mountains and water in the surroundings in the first place. They were ornament salespeople carrying a luopan.
So don't sweat on the minute stuff like what colours to paint, what furniture to buy, fire/water clash in kitchen. Your feng shui is already decided largely by the external, not internal.

I was quite surprise to find a red dot at main door - beside the door bell? Suspect some neighbour did it for either feng shui or other ritual. Saw that my neighbor also had one, but not sure if they are the one who did it on my main door.
Anyone know anything about such practice.
There are lots of practices being infused into classical feng shui. A red dot or even a thousand red dots painted anywhere will not affect your feng shui nor your neighbour's feng shui. It's not so easy to sabotage somebody's fortune.
Examples of Taoist practices are hanging a ba gua mirror or a round mirror with a writing brush or pasting yellow paper on top of main door.

Hello there,
I'll collect key on 1/8 and intend to start renovation for my rented shop space from 1/8 onwards. Then knowing 1/8 is just the beginning of the chinese ghost month.
Does anyone knows that can the reno（动土） start during that period or better to avoid?

Feng shui has nothing to do with Chinese ghost month. In fact, date selection for moving house, getting married, opening a new shop or office, start new job etc does not preclude a date that falls within Chinese ghost month.
Chinese ghost month is a Taoist belief. Feng shui is not.
The only thing you have to watch out for is the annual 5 Yellow Star which is in the East sector in 2011. Closing a good date to hack or drill in this sector would be advisable.
If you have already hacked or drilled the East sector, the bad effects cant be reversed but would taper off by end of this year.

Hi all the experts, need all your advice. I just brought a resale flat.
1) when I'm standing at my main door looking into my unit, I saw my dinning table, is it fine?
2) my neighbour main door are face to face with my main door and they had place a round mirror with a writing brush (毛笔) and a 幅 on top of their main door. I don't really like the feeling as I can see myself when I'm standing at my doorway looking into the mirror. Can u suggest what should I do. Orl any one have good recommendation of FS master that don't change so high.

1) absolutely no problem. Dining table has no feng shui effect. In fact, all the furniture has no effect on your house's feng
shui. Also, dining room location has no feng shui effect.
The external environment and the location of your main door together accounts for 75% of the feng shui. Location of
kitchen and bedroom being the remaining 25%.
2) The purpose of a mirror is to reflect light so that you can comb your hair. A mirror being placed with a writing brush is
an infusion of Taoism into feng shui and has no basis at all. It will not affect your fortune. Don't be upset or
uncomfortable with this.
It's not so easy for anyone to sabotage your feng shui as your fortune on earth is decided by your own bazi chart. The feng
shui of your house just decide on fast you make your next million or how much hardship you have to go through to make your
next.

For apartment unit, the FS is more or less fixed once you purchase the unit as you cannot change the location of you main door. Can you change the external environment as well ? No, you can't.
Don't worry about what you place or do not place as they will not affect your feng shui ie. ornaments, paintings, cyrstals, wall colours, furniture colours etc do not decide your house's feng shui at all.
As for whether your kids can excel in studies, a lot is already decided by their bazi charts.
If your hubby does not want to consult a FSM, I think this could be a wise decision. Even if you get a FSM, chances are that
you get defective advice as the std of FSMs in S'pore is very low. This is the sad state of the industry here.

if things are fixed and without alternation, perhaps i would like to know the following :
a) can these masters predict or tell the truth on the person accidents or death ? This way we can buy insurance at a later point and no need to "buy" insurance earlier - save cost ?
At least we can control our money on what to buy or not to buy.
This is a very tedious calculation. If you're in your 30's, the FSM has to examine year by year for next half a century to see the potential for death and then drill down to the month. Yes, some charts have higher potential to be involved in fatal road accidents than others.
However, the consultant should be able to tell you what is your potential health issue(s) ie. the body part(s) most vulnerable to illness. You can take preventative measures to treat this body part before the problem flares. Use traditional chinese medicine, rather than do surgery which is more expensive and intrusive. This is the kind of insurance that you should be using.
Bazi consultants usually prefer to discuss life than death. They are paid to tell you what you should do between now and death.

Get a proper flying star chart mapped out based on building facing direction and the Period (6,7 or 8?)of the building.
The main internal factor is the facing star residing at the main door. Once you have a good star there,
your family is already using it everyday by opening and closing the door. The main door alone accounts for more than half of the internal factor. Remember- prosperous qi in, prosperous qi out. bad qi in, bad qi out.
Then look at the facing star of the kitchen and the sitting star at each of the bedrooms.
Furniture is hardly a factor, so just buy whatever colours and design your wife prefers. Don't sweat over the small stuff. And dont bother about ornaments, crystals, paintings. If you want to buy them just as wealth generators, maybe a better idea would be to buy your wife a surprise present. Marriage is sustained by love, affection and communication, not a pair of mandarin ducks on display.
Just don't clutter up the space next to the main door.
The other 50% (or arguably more) of the feng shui would be the external environment which is already fixed. eg. water and mountains should conform to direct/indirect spirit.

Can anyone recommend a good master ? What is the costs like ?
Honestly i've not got a chance for someone to interpret my bazi before.
Maybe you can post your bazi and e-mail here and see if any forumer can interpret it.
Then compare it to a FSM's interpretation and you can see the std of FSM in S'pore.

Hi everyone, I have a question on open door ritual.
You see, we're getting a resale unit and it's vacant as tenant moved out sometime ago.
Owner says can let us have the keys for renovation 1st once we exercise OTP if we're in a hurry.
Say if he really give us the keys after OTP, does it mean that once we enter the unit with the key is already considered 'open door'?
Then how about if we sign the OTP in the unit and he pass us the keys on the spot? Is that also counted as open door?
No, the move-in date is the day the family members move in together with the furniture.
As long as it doesnt clash with the animal sign of each and every family member, it's ok. This is the most important thing you want to avoid- its called the Personal Breaker Day.

Hi All,
I have a very tricky floor plan! I understand that I can't place my stove opposite the sink or window, nor can I place it opposite the toilet door, which leaves only 1 area to place the hob and forces my kitchen to be really odd.
Here's my floor plan and how I intend to place the stove. It looks like if I do it this way, there may be a slight chance that part of the stove would face the basin. The other way is to switch the fridge and the stove placing, and perpetually keep my toilet door close.
I guess it's bad either way, but can anyone help advise which is worse since that's not much I can do with this layout?

just switch the fridge position with that of the wash basin. No need to worry about the toilet being too close to the kitchen.
The most impt internal factor for the house is the location and facing of your main door, which you cant change. As for the external factors- well, you can't control either as these are the water (roads) and mountains (very tall buildings) in the vicinity.

Paintings have no feng shui effect at all.
If you like to see a painting of mountain in your house, by all means, hang one.
But should you do so in the hope of getting a promotion, striking lottery or improving your biz,
it's not going to help.

I'll be installing a hopefull huge & full length mirror on the wall that's directly behind the bedroom door. That's been approved by my taiwanese fengshui master in view of space constraint.
When the bedroom door is closed, the mirror would be reflecting my giant wardrobe - well, does that mean I'll have more & more clothes, bags, shawls? Whoa, that would be great!

the purpose of a mirror is to reflect light. It serves no feng shui purpose.
In anicent times, mirrors were made of bronze. Being a pure metal, it could weaken the 5 Yellow star which is Earth. This is a very popular elemental cure used by FSM.
Since then, technology has moved on and our mirrors are no longer made of bronze but glass and a lyaer of chemical coating.

but i do agree with u that it takes more than jux a few ornaments to see fengshui recommendations work. it amazes me to see how people fall for these stones & crystals when their masters sell it to them.

Lillian Too is an excellent marketeer. She's the first person to sell feng shui to the English-speaking market in S'pore and M'sia. She opened up a whole new untapped market.
In the study of feng shui, flying star formula used to be a guarded secret passed down through lineages until it was made available to the general public in Hong Kong around the 80s. Flying star formula is a very popular method employed by FSM because it takes only a short time to see the effects.
In anicent China, no customer dared to question their FSM on anything the FSM told them to do. When the FSM did his flying star calculations and found that the prosperous Qi would be at the foyer, for instance, he would ask the customer to place ornaments and paintings at the foyer. This is to attract curious onlookers to admire these pieces of art. The movement of human crowd at the foyer would act as carriers of Qi which is what you want if the prosperous qi is residing there.
Of course, the FSM would not tell the customer it's the movement of good Qi that brings wealth to the household but the ornaments and paintings. This is probably how it's passed down to modern days for hundreds of years. Today, we live in an age where we seek explanation on anything we are told to do. FSM have to provide flying star chart reports on the house. In the past, their word was law.

Colour has no effect on a person's luck.
For instance, if your favourable element is fire, it doesnt mean red or pink would be your lucky colours. This is purely New Age infusion into bazi analysis.
If a person is going through bad luck cycle, he needs good feng shui to mitigate his hardship.
Mitigate at best but cannot eliminate the bad luck.

No need.
In fact, the same goes for all the rooms in your house. Paint it any colour you wish- yellow, blue, green, pink or white. Colours will not affect your luck.
If it is so easy to create good luck with colours, we would be paying much more for our Nippon or ICI paint.
Whether you are going through good or bad luck depends on your 10-year luck cycle. Your bazi chart will decide on much you can take this good or bad luck.
If your chart is a bicycle going through a good luck cycle, you would do ok during this period. If your chart is a Porsche, life would not be just ok during a good luck cycle. You could be a multi-millionaire at the end of the 10-yr cycle.

Not true. Relationship problems in a marriage are inherent in a bazi chart. It's just waiting for the right time to be triggered.
If a couple has a clash, destruction or harm between Mth and Day Earthly Branch in their respective bazi charts, the problem would surface, with or without the ceiling fan.
Sleeping under a ceiling fan lowers my our utility bill as compared to turning on the aircon. And I don't have to wake up with a dry throat.

I am curious, WHEN does a FS master starts to forcast on a yearly basis ? Only coming to cny ? I thought they are expert and they can forcast many years in advance ? But how come FS master starts appearing as it near cny ? Advertisment ?
The outlook for the next year is always based on 4 Feb. The FSM would typically plot the bazi chart of the year based on this date. It just so happen that CNY is always around 4 Feb.
Anyone can forecast many years in advance as long as you know how to plot bazi charts using the Ten Thousand year calendar.
But what's the point in publishing a forecast for 2020 now when 2012 has not even started ? The general public wants to know what's in store for them in next year.

i guess u met the sharks ! i agreed with u that they should not discuss about future (too far off - maybe within ONE year) since who can predict anything up to 70 years old.
And i also agree with u on bazi element - talks about charactistics (which i don't have to know since i am myself).
Perhaps i should ask for one to 3 year advice instead ?

A competent bazi consultant would be able to tell you your overall luck in blocks of 10-years. It's called the 10-year luck cycle that Heaven gives to everyone- question is only whether it's good, average or bad.
A bazi consult should consist of the following
1) character and personality analysis
2) your family background- ancestors, parents. eg. whether any inheritance
3) career analysis
what industry and job role is suitable for you
4) relationship with boss, siblings, spouse and children
5) quality of your spouse w/o you submitting your spouse or partner's birthdata
6) health issues and what to watch out for
7) 10-year luck summary
8) luck for next few years
It should take min. 45 minutes. Any less would likely mean the consultant is unable to read into greater details.
If there's any recommendation for purchase of bracelet or ring to change your luck, this is the classic sign of a New Age consultant. The focus of the consult should always be on what actions you should take to improve your life, not what you should wear.

Oh dear, so my dad having the Guan Gong altar facing my neighbour will have bad karma? My friend has a bagua mirror facing his neighbour door, so he and his master will have bad karma? Don't understand, many developers have mirror shining reflective buildings and all of them and their masters have bad karma? My colleague read from Lilian Too books and place Qi Lin on his table facing another colleague, so like this he and Lilian Too will also have bad Karma?

A bagua mirror is a Taoist dilution of feng shui. Somebody hanging a bagua mirror to face a neighbour's door will not suffer bad karma because a bagua mirror is but a mirror. It will cause no harm to anyone, neither will it deflect away any negative energy. It is just a mirror that cost a few dollars.
If you like the look of a Qi Lin on your study table, by all means, display it. But it's harmless, just like the bagua mirror. If it's so easy to have an edge over a colleague at work, we all would be directors and VPs by now, simply by placing Qi Lins all over our office desks and pointing them at your competitors at work. Promotion at work has a lot to do with your bazi chart.
Buying ornaments can improve fortune, not yours but the retailer selling these to believers. It's plain hope that people are buying.
