  1. I remember some year back. A couple went back to their HDB block during night time.

When the lift open at their floor level, Fire shot right to their face.

Big fire right infront on the lift.

Can't remember is there any one dead but they got burn on their hand and face.

Cause.. someone thrown sofa near to the staircase and don't know why caught fire.

jialat sia...to be frank, if I die because of such thing, I sure will come back and haunt the people who dump their stuff there. curse.gif

my experience is in my old house (at outram park, now demolished by govment already). It is the old style flat, with a long straight corridor. Around twenty households side by side.

one day, there's a thick smoke coming from downstairs. my mom got scared so she locked up the whole house. That time, I was small, around P2 and very pissed that I cannot go out to play

turns out that the furniture on the floor below us catch fire. Luckily, no one got injured. No one was ever caught for putting the furniture there either.

Moral of story: please spare a thought for others. don't anyhow put stuff in corridors!!

  2. finding the correct contractor is a **** lot of research n legwork, but the end result will always be satisfying.

Not really...sometimes the end result is like crap, because you trusted the wrong guy, as seen from the many complaints around.

Sorry for the pessimistic comments. Ignore me if you want. Its just that I don't really like the "always" word....

I wish you all the best for your reno.

  3. new things are always nice looking one, after a while scratches from daily use will render u immune to it. same applies to a new flooring or repolished one. after all, the granite flooring is factored into your cov. hacking it means literally throwing your money to the drain n spending more to redo.

Fully agreed with the throwing money to drain part...guess I missed that it is already included into the house price.

  4. U might want to take a look at 2 of these threads where I've mentioned about Nippon's products with photographs:

Once we start painting out home, we would also do a new thread on Nippon paint, oil-based sealer & also scraping off hardened "debris" from the ceiling arising from leakage.

Nothing impressive but DIY can be very strenuous on us layman so if we need to do it, we have decided to publish our experiences in the forum. :P

Hi edenstrauss. I really appreciate all your sharing. I see that you are recommending nippon. Thanks for that.

Btw, can we request for nippon paint from an ID/Contractor who's using ICI? Or each company must die die use that particular painting vendor, sort of like an exclusive partnership or franchise.

    Thanks for your help...
