  1. I did some checking, I'm pretty sure they are not the same company. I really liked a sofa at The Home Gallery @ Pandan Crescent, I'll probably end up getting it. This is the one to avoid at all cost: Excellence Home Gallery http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=45495 http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=50637 http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=51530
  2. Ok, I know I said no more pics but I might end up getting this sofa... really like it very much. It's on walnut coloured legs, very comfy! I don't want to jump into anything but this is a definite maybe!
  3. Last post for now since all my renovation is done and I'm still looking for furniture (any furniture in my photos are old items that were used by tenants). I'd rather wait and save my money, look for something I really love than buy immediately just to fill the apartment. My bedroom lights turned out really well. I love how this light reflects off the walls... so pretty! :D This is how the lights in the bedroom entryway looked when they are switched on. Other people have feature walls in their living rooms, I have a "feature" light in my bedroom. I love how it looks though, really ties into the industrial but finished/polished look I want. All together now.... looks really nice against those vents in the wall.
  4. This is my poor living room light, the vintage Artimede Tolomeo ceiling lamp I bought from Lorgans... I think the wire got pulled out when I moved it, now I need to find an electrician to troubleshoot it for me. The sofa in the photo is an old one that was bought for the use of tenants and will get tossed as soon as I can find something I like.
  5. Has anyone got any feedback on the quality of their furniture? I liked one of the fabric sofas I saw there. And it's not that Home Gallery (I checked!)
  6. Other than my kitchen cabinets, my shoe cabinet was the only piece of furniture I got that was built by Alan's carpenter. I tried hard to find something that would fit into the space I had and with a raw / industrial feel and after weeks of looking decided to give up and get something made. I didn't want it to look built in so asked the carpenter to put it on feet. I also like the look of plywood and seeing the exposed layers so decided to use that for my shoe cabinet. The carpenter was pretty shocked and asked me several times if I was sure I wanted plywood. The door on the right side holds my router and taller boots. I was pretty happy with the exterior but had a shock when I saw the inside... I didn't expect he would use laminated boards, then again I forgot to tell him I wanted plywood for everything because we were both so focused on the outside. In any case, this cabinet was definitely very different from what he's done in the past so I would say he did a pretty good job overall. For my first effort at a self designed piece of furniture and communicating the design to the carpenter with my bad Mandarin, I'm pretty happy with it. If there was anything I would change about this, I would have made all the inside plywood and used normal doors instead of sliding doors. I might end up getting the vents on the right side made bigger since I find there's not enough ventilation for my router. Since I had to fit the cabinet under the window, I wouldn't have much space so I made zig zag shelves and a sliding partition to increase my storage. In the end, this cabinet takes about 38 pairs of shoes (one section can fit 1 pair instead of 1 shoe as the photos) which is pretty good.
  7. Thank you! I saw the same style of light in one of the light shops along Jalan Besar, it was behind the counter and going for ~$500. I didn't want to pay that much so looked for alternatives. Mine was cheap, I don't recall exactly how much I spent but about $60 - $70+? I bought the cables and fixtures from a tiny shop at Sim Lim tower (somewhere on 3rd floor I think) that specializes in import/export and wholesale of electrical fittings. I basically pestered the uncle there to help me find a ceiling attachment which would fit 5 wires. They were kind enough to put the light together for me but I felt bad after that, it was obvious they don't normally do this kind of small job. After I found an online source for my bedroom light (the one on the metal frame) which is pretty much the same thing, I got another uncle at a neighbourhood hardware store to put it together for me. I have a spare 5 wire ceiling rose in black , let me know if you would be interested in buying it. Black 5 wire ceiling rose
  8. Something else I bought that I like very much... it's a metal platform for my fridge. I found this at one of the hardware shops (I think Homefix?) and it makes it a lot easier to clean behind and around the sides of the fridge. I'm not that much of a neat freak but I have a glass kitchen door so all the dirt and dust is going to be visible. The only thing that is stupid about it is that the wheels don't move 360 degrees so it comes straight out and goes straight back... pretty ridiculous.
  9. My bidet toilet seat seemed to get a lot of interest so posting this for those who asked. It's a manual one with knobs on the side for adjustment. I bought this toilet roll holder that hooks onto the side of the toilet tank to keep spare rolls handy.
  10. I love my stainless steel kitchen counter top! But it gets lonely in the kitchen all on its own so I had to get it a friend from Ikea....
  11. Congrats, your unit is in very nice condition!
  12. Bro may I knw how much is the bidet seat? The brand? Your reno turn out sleek and nice Can show me pics of your stainless steel top The brand is Peco... never heard of it before but was told it's a Malaysian brand so maybe it would be another item that's cheaper there? I was hunting for something reasonable and I didn't want anything flimsy, I saw this in a few shops but Bacera in Geylang gave me the best price. Cost was about $190 after discount (but I did buy other items from the shop). Will post photos of the stainless steel top soon!
  13. The sliding glass door between kitchen and dining area also went up soon after. I was still missing my tall cabinet door, that was taken away to be rectified (it was knocking into my kitchen light) Accessories in the bathroom and washroom have gone up as well. Blindingly bright bathroom light ... once that bulb burns out, I'm changing to a lower wattage. Washroom mirror from Ikea looks a little small but still ok... I really wanted a large round mirror but it would have been impossible to centre it since the sink is next to the wall. Bidet toilet seat and toilet roll holder
  14. My stainless steel kitchen counter top all covered up. I chose single matte stainless steel sink and tap to match my kitchen counter, size is reasonably large & deep for a single sink. Floor trap was in the middle of the kitchen so I decided to do a concealed one. My only regret is that I didn't use this style of floor trap for my dry washroom as well... my bathroom is the standard plastic one, I thought it would be easier to clean all the dropped hair in the shower but don't know why it didn't occur to me that I wouldn't have that problem in the dry washroom
  15. I do too! I thought about painting them in a contrast color but I decided I like it blending into the walls.
  16. Kitchen cabinets done, just waiting for the stainless steel counter top and the full length cabinet door. It actually looks pretty nice with the wood too... oh well...
  17. I was inspired by this photo but couldn't figure out where to use it. Then I realized it would be an interesting way to light up that corridor in my bedroom. The catch here is that those stupid pipes don't seem to be available in Singapore. At least I couldn't find anyone who was willing to cut & thread the pipes to the length that I wanted. In the end, I stopped by a Home Depot during a US work trip and ended up bringing them back from the US. Trying out the positioning... lights have already gone up, I was using the same fabric covered wires that I used in my kitchen lights but in a silver than a grey. The fixtures have been covered in a red plastic bag. I originally used 5 wires (ie 5 lights) in that fixture, then I realized it was seriously overkill .... sure looked pretty though.
  18. These are the lights I used in my bedroom. I was originally planning to use this as a bedside light but soon realized I had not bought any furniture and so had no idea exactly where to position it. In the end, I put it in the corner so it would be hanging next to my TV.
  19. My dining area lights aka octopus light ... since I didn't have any furniture, I thought having lights that I could move around would give me more flexibility on where I placed my dining table or even if I bought a round table. Dining room lights... taken before the lights got adjusted so still crooked A little better...
