  1. Hi, we have a queen-sized mattress pad/protector for sale. We bought it at $300 and willing to let go at $180. It is only used for few days, I personally like the comfort of this mattress pad over my hard mattress, however hubby dislike sleeping on soft pad. We have only used it for few days and now it is kept in its original packing. Dry cleaned. Please PM me if you are interested.

  2. After much delay, finally the DIY brick wall has been started

    578957_10151160271958261_1479474953_n.jpg

We used 2 types of glue: Maxbond & Builder... glues. We prefer the later one as it dries faster, so no need to hold the tiles and wait for it to be dried. But you have to be fast though =)

    Our progress so far...

We could not find the wood spacer to put in the gaps, hence used some rolled paper from magazine. It works well too!

Hopefully we can finish it next weekend. Will post the updates then :)

Omg, how did you DIY the brick wall? :jawdrop::good:

Can share the steps and material needed?

  3. Hi! The louvered bi-fold doors that you installed for your toilet is nice! I'm actually looking for something similar, but with the louvers at the bottom. Do you happen to know the supplier for the doors?

I'm not sure whether they have full louver. I didn't ask for it as I'm installing the doors for my bathrooms, water may splash out. You can look at PD door's website. They have full-louver PD door.

hello! do you think you could kindly pm me with your contractor's contact and details? thanks! :)

    PMed

Love your half-louvered bifold door, can you pm me your contractor contact?

Yesterday went to discuss with one of the ID, those doors that he showed us are really ugly and expensive ... great to see your post ~

Yeah.. those normal bi-fold doors don't look good and material is lousy as well. I have PMed you my contractor's contact.

    Hi

Is the pendant lamp from ikea? Don't remembering seeing it in their showroom

Wanna get this for island area.

    Thx

Yes, it is a discontinued item.

    Integrated sink for dry kitchen...

    img2979nh.jpg

    Hi OnTheRoad,

This is a good idea. :good:

May I ask how much did your contractor charge you for the integrated sink? Is it more expensive than buying an actual sink? I think this will be a good idea for my mom's house reno in future.

  5. nice holder! really very little things you have. my toiletries can make my toilet full of stuff.... but all of them i put at shower rack. on the basin, i only have dettol for washing hands

Haha yea, things that I don't use everyday are in the dresser. I don't store them in the toilet. But have to admit I have very little things also la.. Our wardrobe is less than 5 feet :)

I like how you use that container in your toilet! Vy creative! Aren't those IKEA's kitchen accessories?

How is your sofa going on? I can't wait to see the end product!

Thanks Topsy. Sofa legs are still in the workshop they have not arrived. Probably end of July. Will update again :)

  6. You have good design sense, very nice. If you give me that two bottles, they are not enough to put my toiletries. If you open my "medicine box", you will see how many things I have put inside - medicines, cotton, sanitary, facials, mouthwash, etc. Is it expensive to custom-made that piece of mirror?

Thanks Aya! Haha we try to minimise the stuff in the bathroom as the place is really small. We only have our toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, hubby's shaver in that two containers. The other stuff are either on the shower rack or my dresser!

We have the mirrors made during one of our trips to Malaysia. Cost about RM65 for 2 mirrors. One for the master bathroom, the other which is the one above the shoe cabinet. I just placed it there while waiting for hubby to drill a hole on the common toilet wall.

Hi Valerie, may I ask where you got the cute table fan and the little plant? V nice!!

Hi fishponder, I bought the table fan from taobao.com. and that little plant is from IKEA.

  7. Home Interior (Taking our own sweet time)

For a month we did not have a mirror in the bathroom as we were looking for a mirror with white frame. It was hard to get one with suitable size hence we custom made it!

We have also gotten a rod and some holders for our toothbrush and toiletries.

Another new thing we have gotten for our foyer - shoe cabinet.

  8. Hi Valarie!

Oh nice! I was looking for something like that too! But the one I wanted is the raw, old school kind - To make my own furniture and display art piece :) I found some really old one in malaysia but it start to rot after a while... ewwww.. The ones u have in the pic are commercial ones and are normally treated before use. Anyway, have you found where to get yet? :yamseng:

Hi Chocobanana, I don't have time to look for it yet. One of the bloggers here told me he saw this at Journey East under the Bodhi series. You may want to go get it from there.

i love your ikea "study table" :D Could you pm your quotes for some reference too? Thanks in advance :)

Hi cclim, please PM me your email address so that I can send you the quotes :)

  9. I saw these incredibly exquisite Japanese vases at Franc Franc and couldn't resist getting them for the living room.

    imagevqkr.jpg

Keeping in line with the minimalist theme, these shall be the only art pieces/display in the house.

Nice display yet easy to maintain! :thumbs up:

  10. hello valerie, your kitchen design is really an eye-opener! I always thought these kind of tiles are used for flooring. I like your creativity. Your bathroom door is also very classy. Can you PM me your contractor's contact?

Hi Valerie, would you be able to share with me your contractor's contact please? Thanks!

Hi madferit and sherrytan, sorry for the late reply. I have PMed both of you my contractor's contact. :yamseng:

Hi ValerieLow where did you get the study table? And how much does it cost? We are looking for a simple one like yours!

Hi chynaho, I got it from Ikea. It is actually a kitchen worktop, you can find it in the kitchen section. :P

    Very nice!

    Thanks Bobochacha!

  11. It's actually very exciting to see your house being transformed, little by little, day by day. Believe our new place would be very comfortable for us to 'nua'. :sport-smiley-004:

Sharing our fabric sofa purchased for the house.

    7437215094_b59419c05f_m.jpg

Thinking of covering it in full turquoise fabric. So my living room furniture would be in 2 main colours: white and turquoise.

Turquoise is a nice colour! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your furniture choice! Hehe you are right about the light grey tiles in the kitchen. My kitchen has dark grey tiles and they actually make the kitchen dark, but luckily I have white cabinet, otherwise my kitchen would be even darker.

  12. Hi, you stated that youur washing machine is not too good? Vibration alot? Noisy? Care to share the model that you have?

Hi, it is Samsung 8692 - the most popular model. Top seller in courts, haha seems like many people buy it because it is cheap.

Well, I think it is not as good as other brands as it is noisy when it spins. But it does the cleaning job well. If you mind the noise, don't buy.

    hi valerie,

seems easy enough.....but i think this process would generate a lot of saw dust when you prep the wood before sealing it

    http://www.ehow.com/how_8507638_treat-untreated-wood.html

Thanks for the website. Will take a look.

It is a tedious process; not advisable to diy.

How tedious it is? Can tell me more details? As i'm really interested to get the wooden crate.

    Hi Valerie.

Can i ask what brand of soft closing mechanism you are using for kitchen cabinet n drawers?

I have agreed to use Alan's house brand one and now, it is not as smooth as IKEA soft closing at all.

worse, only one cabinet door seems to close softly properly.

the rest are closing softly only when we swing open fully then push to close,

if not open fully and close immediately, it SLAMs hard!

do you have this problem or you requested to use BLUM?

hope to get your advice soon..

alan said "it works like that one"...

    cry..

Hi piknik, I agree. The soft closings are like that. It only works when I open the door at certain angle and push it. I tried this at other ID showrooms and it's the same. To me, those hinges from ID or contractors are just for people who wants to have soft closing but can't afford to pay for branded hinges. I have never tried those soft closing hinges at IKEA, are they really good?

  13. Think the wine crates are made from untreated wood. They are unlike the ones used for our kitchen cabinets. So if the termite might migrant from the wine crates to your house furniture if you are unlucky.

Oh I see. Thanks for the explanation chynaho. I didn't think of that!

    Thanks chynaho for explaining further.

Bringing untreated wood into a house full of beautiful wood furniture is a big risk.

Can I use something to paint or treat the wooden crate before bringing into my house? Do you know? Is that something that we as houseowner can DIY, or we need to find some professional people to treat the wood? Sorry if my question sounds too silly.

I have seen such crate box from Journey East under the Bodhi series.

Can check it out as there are 3 different sizes.

Thanks for the info ahlipz. That will be my last resort if I can't get it for free or at minimal cost hehe..

Valerielow: Your kitchen looks like a showroom piece.. Think you must be really proud of it! Love your toilet doors too. :good:

Thanks for the compliment. That's the only place with some 'design'. The rest of the house is just plain four walls. So nothing to show. :sport-smiley-004:

  14. Aesthetically, I agree with your husband, the planks are too short. If longer planks, there may be less visible grout lines? I saw someone using wooden textured tile planks as you do. Not sure if you visited his blog before? His planks are longer though.

Nevertheless, you place still looks great. After your funiture are in, they are not so obvious anymore. No worries! :yamseng:
