  1. Hanging light was wrongly installed. Both ceiling fans are making loud noises - looks off balance. Electricians will rectify all problems when they come for a final fixation. At 8.30pm, Kelvin and painter were still at my place doing final touch up. We have started moving our clothes over. Tomorrow, final polishing will be done and HOPEFULLY, office and kitchen cabinets plus granite top will be up. Dinner table will be delayed. This particular carpenter sucks big time!!
  2. Yohoo Battle, you gave uncle painter a big hong bao, buy him lunch and dinner or what? He kept praising you leh .. said you very good
  3. Confirmed!! Ceiling person is our best contractor . We have nicknamed him our plastic surgeon . Most of our lights and fans are up. Favourite room is the blue room. The cove light effect is better than I imagine. Not happy with the hanging light in the girls' room though. Need to see how lighting.com.sg install theirs. Certain hiccups need to be rectified urgently too! Teak wood bed frame and main door were lacquered the same brownish black. Repair work needed on the door
  4. At 1st glance, I thought, wahh .. so many lights. Then realised it's the reflection on the wall tiles and mirror. No more storeroom liao??
  5. Gee, I had the exact intention of having stripe too (pair off with misty 5078) but the idea was shot down by the girls. It's nippon Aqua Marine 5086
  6. Thank you all The 2 bright colours are chosen by my girls . The rest are chosen by Andrew who managed to capture my taste for earthly tone. One man show carpenter uncle is fast and good . The other "bigger" company one is not so good - depends on which worker do what. The TV console is ok but not the one in charge of office area. Dimension wrong and worker lacks understanding of plan. Moreover, didn't use grey matter during installation . Seriously need to redo. Meeting with carpenter, electrician and Andrew tomorrow morning to sort things out. I'm more concern about the completion of the TV console. Singtel coming on Monday to install broadband etc. Tuesday TV coming in.
  7. It is being not 100% that makes your place uniquely yours From what I see, it's looking good
  8. So paiseh .. Andrew was like jumping on an ant's nest yesterday when he tried unsuccessfully to get me regarding some "URGENT" matters. I was happily browsing curtain materials and curtain rods at Spotlight and couldn't hear the numerous calls he made. Saw his SMS only 2 hours later. Aiya, nothing urgent lah! He was only preparing me on some minor defects which his men will rectify today, in case I jump on him when I do spot check last evening. Spotlight curtain rods are of a better quality than IKEA. Haven't decide whether to use track or rod, buy or custom made curtains. My kitchen cabinets, living room TV console, work desk, filing cabinets etc (except the dining table) will supposedly be installed today. It is now raining heavily outside. Hope my furniture won't get drenched.
  9. Is your reno completed? Have you move in yet? Any pics to show?
  10. Not at all! But don't have too high expectation hor. The design is very straight forward and common. Suit our needs can liao. I'll ask him to bring you only after the multimedia system is up and calibrated (after July 16). Hope the sound is at least half as good as when we hear it at the showroom
  11. Carpentry for the Entertainment and WIW came when the polishing for our floor is still on going . Luckily, Andrew and Kelvin were there to handle the situation. When I went during lunch time, saw part of our furniture at the lift lobby downstairs and some outside our door. Polishers have already pasted outside the door for ALL to remove shoes before stepping in. Nicely painted walls kena splashed liao
  12. @May - Blue room is the entertainment room. Will post it only when totally complete with curtains and all. Andrew was at 1st skeptical of the darkness. Borrowed architectural colour reference books from the library to show him her idea. He saw the effect this afternoon and was quite please with it. The aqua marine room is girlie's room. Can see the contrast better once beds in and hanging light installed. He was a bit disappointed with the MBR colour which is supposed to be Nippon mole but turned out more brownish. I'm fine with it though. @Potatoes - Yeah Those are rectangular tiles with bricks design. It has a glazed surface, hence will be easy to wipe clean. We are still looking for a suitable coloured weatherbond or "waterproof" paint for the box up. None can be found on Nippon catalog. Trying to get our hands on ICI or other brand's catalog. Meanwhile, the base colour is already painted.
  13. Correct me if I'm wrong. I think 6" - 8" is the standard height. Girlie's previous single mattress is 6" while our Queen is 8". We just buy them from our heartland furniture shop.
  14. Basically, the colours for my walls are all here except the MBR Painter did quite a good job when we see it this evening and the paint still damp. Neat painting. Let me check again tomorrow in broad day light when the walls are dry .
  15. I've experienced that too. Hot days, heater super hot, can't and no need to use heater. Cold days, heater is mildly luke warm. Thought it was me being too sensitive to climate change
  16. Congrats, you've had a good tiler whom is hard to find nowadays Good tiling work!
  17. Is the switch for your washing machine being controlled outside the toilet, like the instant heater? Will there be any screen or shower curtain separating the shower area and W/M? Long table looking good
  18. Sales person told me bedsheets costing abt $30 - $40 will do. Those in the $10+ range will not fit and will shrink alot. I've checked the bedsheets sold at John Little which state the thickness and true enough, no problem .
  19. Battle, we've got the same painter as you. Told us he'll pop in at your place to do touch up. Another old man with plenty of "lao xao". Warned us about cracks for hollow blocks and the door frames after painting and since it is not his fault, he will not come back for touch up FOC. He said will charge us double. Not happy when he saw Andrew's written warning pasted on our opennet trunking telling EVERY contractor to be extra careful. He purposely tore off the paper and knock on the trunking to see how fragile it is :jawdrop: . Told him if damaged, it will cost him $220. He was totally ignorant of what opennet is about. Explained to him that the warning is not just for him but everyone and the trouble we had to have it installed. Then he guai guai paste back the paper.
  20. I think he got both of us mixed up liao leh! He put my shower bar for the instant heater so high up that I would need to tip toe a little when it is at its highest pt. I've "inherited" a portable black and white TV cum radio (9" X 9" X 9") which is older than me. Every year I'll bring it out of store and test the picture and sound. Still working I'll display it in the entertainment room as a conversation piece
  21. Sad piece of news . After polishing (should be done tomorrow), my old marble will be very shiny but not my new marble. My new marble will be very white though. This shows old things can withstand time. Quality counts too.
  22. This is what we see from balcony to kitchen window on the left. Will be bright and windy.
  23. Sneak preview of my MBR toilet. Loving it!
  24. Which curtain maker is it? MGL? I'm interested.
  25. Hehehe. Just need to push your page up a little. If not I won't be able to locate your blog if it's too far down below. Think can submit your place for hong xi dai jiang?
