  1. We're torn between aircon in the living ares or not :(

Due to budget constrains, I didn't manage to get aircon in the living for our first home and regretted...

Like you I was pondering on "aircon or no aircon" for our 2nd home... in the end, decided to go for it... :notti:

Though the aircon may not be able to cool the entire living area but at least there will be some cool air circulating... no need to watch TV in "suana" ah  and when friends pop by for gathering... also no need "suana" de...

    Just my personal opinion

  2. Hey yo dreamzgal!

Not sure which one you fancy but well, you've got mail! :notti:

    Thanks, Bro :D

The 3Ds are :good: , I believe your family members will love it :D

Everything is looking good... all the best for the remaining reno :yeah:

  3. Hi hawthorne.. I also bought the same induction hob, please provide more reviews on the hob

Hi kevenang, Yes, it is the rare few that runs on a 13AMP.

That's the main reason for the purchase too...

Hi whitefantasy, I bought a Taiyo pressure cooker for stewing/ brewing soups, though I have not used it but heard from friends that it "cooks" very fast and for stewing, the meat are very tender :P (I tasted it myself :P )

  4. I getting this Hitachi washer too. :) Happy reno. :)

    Thanks, Niko... :P

Really admire your courage to co-ordinate the subcons on your own... :good::good::good:

And regarding the tap... hmmm... I will be 2nd to be blacklisted... keke... :notti:

How long did your tb purchases take to come?

Hi juzstapose... I go via sea frieght so it takes about 2 weeks.

  5. Hi greclhc, thanks for dropping by...

I also refer to the seller ratings and reviews to decide my purchases.

All the best for your shopping spree: )

  6. Morning, everyone...

I have received a handful of PMs asking about the LED strips so I thought I would share it here for the benefit of those interested :notti:

Hmmm... 先小人后君子, I just received the LED strips from Taobao on 21 May so it was not installed yet, therefore I can't comment on the working condition (brightness, etc). Physical quality of the items are acceptable.

Disclaimer : Please do not hold me responsible as it is your own decision to justify which Taobao seller to purchase from and what items you purchased.

I am not liable for working condition or physical quality of the items that you purchased.

    Here's the links :

-> Do refer to the connection details in the link and see which type of power supply you require, if not sure, do check with your ID/electrician.

    Power Supply : http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=10876114735

-> There are different voltage for the power supply, again if not sure, do check with your ID/electrician.

-> My track lights are also from this Tao Bao seller.

    Hope it helps...

  7. Hi Niko..

    I second the normal type.

Initially I also want to get the pull-out but after visiting showrooms and see that the "show tap hose dangle and can't retract back", I thought the normal type should be more pratical in the long run.

I bought the Blanco sink with normal tap but the spout can be turn left/right or rather 360 degrees.

Sorry, Beng,.. to hijacked your tblog to post my sink :P

  8. Lightings

Finally the Taobao lights arrive :yeah:

The outlook quality looks good but the working condition will have to wait till installation then can comment :dunno:

I will post the dining light after we collect it tomorrow :notti:

All the lights in the house are simple, no frills design as our biggest investment is in the reno works.

Well... just have to skimmed on some and splurge on some...

  9. My ID smsed me a good deal. She got a brand new kitchen sink available to give.

Sounds like a very tempting deal but I had already set sight for the Blanco Metra 9 kitchen sink from Hoe Kee. So no choice but to reject my ID's offer. :dunno:

After rejecting the good offer, I made my way down to IMM to purchase the kitchen sink and arranged delivery on the 22 Mar afternoon.

    22 Mar 2013

Tada.. My kitchen sink is here. :dribble:

Opening up. Yes! I choose granite black to suit my black granite kitchen top!

Overspent on my kitchen accessories. Hope my CFO don't... 8|

Hey.. just realise that I bought the same sink as you.. but I got it in grey :notti:

  10. Hi juz4fun... thank you for the welcome :P

The credit goes to my friend who did the design for us, communication on the design was pretty easy as our "taste" quite similiar and we were blessed to have her and a good contractor (as of to-date... can only comment later when the reno complete :P )

    20 May 2013

The tiling work for is finally completed and floor protection done :good:

    Aircon Installation

GC called on Friday to confirm the appointment and tell me about the arrival time.

The GC guys are very punctual, in fact, they are early :good:, we are late :P

They survery the site, discuss with Hubby on the "piping route" and ask questions about the L-box position and dimension, is there anything covering the piping (eg, wardrobe), how electrical wiring are done... They also made markings so that the L-box guys know the exact location of the aircon unit. :good:

    med_gallery_44454_17_130.jpg

I left before they finish the job so didn't get a chance to take photos of the completed piping, I will take when I drop and will post here :P

    Openet Installation

It's was not a pleasant experience.

We waited from 11am - 1pm, the aircon guys done 60% of the piping and plumber done the piping for both toilets and they still haven't show up :furious:. The guys strolled in 1pm+, did the job within half an hour and left. More waiting till 2.30pm for another guy to come to install the wall socket & do the testing. Bad attitude from the second guy :fire: He come in with a black face and ask me to fill up my details on the installation form.

If it's a free installation then I can't complain but I paid for the installation, have to wait for them & bear with their attitude :bleah:

If they are held up by other jobs, at least have the courtesy to inform me so that I know whether they are coming or not.
My contactor was also waiting for them to come to them how to run the wiring and where to install the box.

Sigh... If I have called them to confirm the appointment :( then maybe the "wait" may not happen

    Plumbing

Plumbing in both bathroom done :D, the plumber was doing the kitchen piping when we left.

Very neat job by the plumber :good:

    med_gallery_44454_17_36369.jpg

We were told by Hoe Kee sales to check with plumber on the gap between the wall and WC hole (6" or 10" and the pan collar size), so after plumber confirm, we make a trip to HoeKee again to confirm the WC, make arrangement for delivery and add-on items that we miss out previously.

We change the master bathroom basin to something with a vanity cupboard so that the "budget" for the vanity top can be "converted" to a dresser for me :P Opps... VO/ VOs are coming...

    sml_gallery_44454_17_33169.jpg

I was lemming for an automatic soap dispenser but was told that batteries need to replaced pretty often & chances of "breakdown" higher.

Ended up with a "manual" type to be mounted in/on the Blanco sink :good:

    sml_gallery_44454_17_24712.jpg

There should be more work done this week... electrical rewiring, partition & ceiling works :notti:

  11. Lights installed from TB so far so good, no major hipcups.. worth the buy 100000 times than purchasing in SG! :good:

lawrenceke, thanks for the assurance :good:

I bought 70% of my lights from Taobao and waiting eagerly for them to arrive in a week time :notti:

Bro, here it is.. my humble petite unit.. 别见笑 :P

The 3Ds were done b4 i bou my furniture & confirmed the paint colours & wallpaper, so not very choon, but they gave quite a close impression.. except for the kitchen cos i did fair bit of changes.. So i'm sure urs will turn out even more swee swee :thumbs up:

[paiseh, take up so much of ur t-blog space]

just4fun, your home looks gorgeous. :notti:

In addition to the meeting with the ID and carpenter, I also took this opportunity to have my purchases delivered to my home. After the ID and carpenter left, I stayed on to tear open the boxes (like an excited kid on boxing day) to have a glimpse of the items which will soon form part of my house. Besides busy dismantling these boxes, I also jotted down the descriptions on all the boxes (in both English and Chinese) so that the workers will have an easier time identifying them during installation. I suppose I'm the most thoughtful client my ID will ever encounter (of course, with the exception of constantly throwing new request at him... :P ).

    These are the pictures.

    1) Tecno Hob which I have ordered from Harvey Norman

    2) The shiny glass surface of the Tecno Hob (can't wait for it to be installed on the kitchen cabinet! :dribble: )

    3) Tecno Slim Hood (Yeahhhh! I'm a Techno person! Wahahahaha! :jammin: )

    4) Blanco double-bowl sink from Heritage Bathroom Gallery

    5) 7 pieces stainless steel bathroom accessories (also from Heritage Bathroom Gallery)

Ben, seems that your renovation is progressing well... so happy for you :notti:

I can't wait to open up my purchases too.. :notti:

In addition to the arrival of my local purchases, the Taobao items have also smoothly crossed the South China Sea and shown up in my Punggol flat. I must applause the effort of peeka staff in China for securing my items in layers and layers of air-filled cushion wrap during the packaging so that the protection level for the items is at its maximum. Well done! :good:

After opening up the boxes, I just browse through the items as I'm pretty lazy to fix up the parts and pieces. Shall upload more pictures after I have time to revisit my house again to join up all the small segments together.

Meanwhile here are some of the photographs:-

    1) The packaging of my crystal chandelier purchased from Taobao (awesome right?! :notti: )

    2) All the small components of the crystal lighting set (Yawnnnnn... I got to construct them like how I used to play with Legos :( )

    3) The LED lightbulb of the crystal lighting set

    4) Sink Mixer from Taobao (I have gotten the same as lawrenceke. To find out how it looks like when installed, please view his T-blog - http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/59703-my-humble-abode/?p=795023)

Wow... Peeka really package your lights well. :notti:

Mine should be arriving next week... and I can't wait to see them though they are just common lightings...

Can't wait to see your completed home :good:

  12. Thanks, Rulz :D

Soooo excited... the tiling work has been complete :notti: and the floor protection material has also arrived :notti:

20 May is the aircon piping installation and the openet installation...

Hopefully everything goes through smoothly

Have a great weekend, everyone

  13. Checking on the progress...

The tiling at both bathrooms & Kitchen wall are complete, Kitchen floor tiling is in progress :yeah:

    20130514_Bathroom+Progress.jpg

Here's our tile selection for Living (Lighter grey) & Foyer+Dining+Kitchen (Darker grey).

Love the bits of glitter in the grey  though may not be able to see it clearly.

    20130427_TilesSelection.jpg

We also make some purchases at Hoe Kee, it may not be the cheapest store but we were impress by the Salesman :D

His willingness to explain on products and also recommend products with reference to our requirements...

    20130514_BlancoMetra9SinkLinusTap.jpg20130515_SanitaryWares.jpg20130514_HoeKeeShelf.jpg

The Blanco Sink + Mixer Tap @ S$659, the bathroom basin & taps at about S$350.

The shelves are about $30+ each which I find them quite expensive

We saw another brand of granite sink at Jalan Besar going at S$300+ but the uncle told us it's from India .

Since the sink will be with us for a long, long time... we decided to pay more for a Blanco sink and I simply love the colour :dribble:

We are in the process of approving the carpentary drawings and it's a real headache to try to fit things into their place

We are meeting with our ID tomorrow to finalized the drawings and select the laminates...

Will keep the photos coming soon...

  14. Haha.. My lights have arrived in Singapore yesterday! But I'm pretty lazy to go down to collect, so I have requested them to deliver to my Punggol house this Saturday. Shall pose some pictures of them over the weekend. :yeah:

I'm pretty upset that I did not purchase the bedroom lights from Taobao too (It's kinda too late to buy them now). Most of the lighting shops in Singapore do not sell LED bedroom lights and those that are sells are pricing it at a high premium. I'm not installing ceiling fan in bedrooms, so I have to roam the streets of Jalan Besar, Balestier, Geylang etc to find suitable energy saving ceiling lights again. :(

Anyway looking forward to more pictures from you too!

Hope your renovation will be smooth too!

    Cheers! :sport-smiley-018:

Wow... I can't wait for my lights to arrive too :notti:

Bro.. drop by Light Craft at Jalan Besar, they are having sale for some lightings and if you are not looking for fanciful ones, their prices are reasonable :notti:

Hopefully I can post more pictures tonight

I was reading through your blog and found out that you have done alot of homework... keke...

My aircon and appliances are also from GC but from Changi City Point... the sales are all very patience with our numerous questions on the aircon and other appliances :yeah:

And thanks for your post on the Sanitary wares, we drop by Jalan Besar last evening but left empty-handed.

Clueless about the type of kitchen & bathroom sinks to buy

I'm still torn between 2 models of the Blanco sinks (a single bowl or double bowl)

The aircon trunking installation & Openet wiring is next Monday so I took a day leave to be the "supervisor"

Your reno progress is looking good and all the best :yeah:

  15. Lighting -- Updates
We haven't bought the dining light yet and this has been the back of my head... hence we make another trip to Light Craft @ Jalan Besar.
Light Craft is having sale for some lightings so for those of you searching for lights can drop by :notti:

This is the bathroom light we purchase together with the Foyer light but i forget to take photo earlier... so here it is :P

Please refer here for Bathroom Light

    Furnitures

We visited a few fairs & furniture shops... bargining is a must :jammin:

Some of the furniture shop offers package for sofa + dining set with selection choice while a rare few allows selection of items in the shop and if the price exceed then you top-up, if you are going for these packages just have to make sure that items or T&C are clearly written in the invoice.

We bought our sofa & dining set from Novena at Expo fair.

It's a 3+2 recliner in Taupe colour :bleah: , it's not my ideal sofa design but Hubby like it alot... :bleah:

    20130430_Furn_Sofa.jpg

But I like the dining set and we got it in black

    20130430_Furn_Dining1.jpg

    More updates coming soon...

  16. Hi ucypmas, yes.. there are many panels of windows... which I guess my curtains/blinds going to cost a bomb :jawdrop:

There are no odd corners so that makes the space functional :good:

Hi juzstapose... will post more photos soon as the house is still pretty messy with works going on
