  1. Hi Mafiawife yes, mine is a corner unit. actually i guess once you live in it and busy with all the chores, you tend to accept things as they are. Glad to hear you are enjoying your stay. For me, I still haven't get over unpacking as perpetually caught up with other stuff. So tiring... there was no water mark when i bought the place. it actually appeared only when the reno almost complete. happened that the upstair neighbour's kitchen sink was leaking just one month before my reno complete. but at least, now it seems dry, after they repaired their sink. hope to post more photos soon. cheers originalbread
  2. thanks Mafiawife. yup i need to change the stopper to a flat one. Did you put the curtain through the rod? I decided i should use the ring and hook thing instead, the one that have clip on the curtains. then i can put the ring and hook beyond the bracket.
  3. Sorry Nexer, I hijack also. Mafiawife, your layout looks similar to mine and that is exactly where I place my sofa n dining table too! Juz that I didnt knock the wall between living and kitchen.
  4. oops, I just realise that you got your dining table from another link. That night I saw your table pic, I was so excited that I plough through the taobao site before you attach your link and found the following: http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.10.289.hlmOJn&id=18209204116 Your's still a better deal.
  5. actually when I see your power sockets, I realise I did mine the wrong way. Mine is behind the console, though hidden, because of the backing of my console, I can't push the console all the way back against the wall. now there is a huge gap between console and wall, making my narrow living room even narrower... Your height is a better choice, can just shift the tv a bit or put photos/ huge posters to hide.
  6. oh, you didn't buy as a set with the table? notice that taobao sell the table with the chairs as a set too. I went taobao to browse through, there are so many shops selling similar stuff.. quite lost as to which to pick even with the reviews...
  7. Wow, very nice bedside table! I like the stuff you chose.
  8. Thanks Nexer. Cool! I like this table. Probably will order this too, after I figure out how...
  9. Hi Nexer Nice reno and stuff you've got! May I know the dimension of your dining table? I've seen something similar at star living and lorgan's but one is too big while the other too ex tho customisable. You've got a great bargain! If you don't mind, could you share the model of your table? Sorry I a bit blur too as never bought anything from taobao yet. Thank you very much! originalbread
  10. Hi Piggicia Could you pm me your acrylic panel installer contact and what is the cost like? thanks! Originalbread
  11. Thankde Defelio. I am looking at veneer with natural tone, a bit like oak veneer look. A close up would be helpful. Is your diameter 1m? I thinking of getting 80cm cos my space really small. Hopefully it won't look strange with the tulip base... Thanks.
  12. Hi Defelio I'm also looking for a tulip table with a oak/natural wood color table top, but Comfort furniture (at Eunos) told me that the standard table top is walnut color/marble. For light color top, its another table top that is not tapered at the edges, so I guess not so nice. Yours look tapered though... Can share roughly what is the price? thanks originalbread
  13. Some updates. finally got Air Division to deliver my sofa, which I ordered since July. Called them quite last minute to bring forward the date as some guests were coming, they were really nice to squeeze in a slot for me. my temp dining table. not sure why I got myself this table many years ago as a writing table. But its cheap, just $59. Only that the wood is in raw state. Have been covering it up in plastic sheet (so ugly), until recently I strip out the cover and oil it. Need to do some sanding and oiling job to protect the surface. (That's why it was sold so cheaply.) Am still thinking if I should just use this as dining and get another writing table, or get a smaller dining to fit the limited space, and move this to the study to continue its original role as a writing table... the dresser has finally been restored. got a carpenter who do restoration work down to my home to do it. I think this color fits more with my room, though originally, the surface wasn't in bad condition that really needs restoration.
  14. it's actually yellowish green..some ppl call it scandinavian green.. it does go with the wood pretty well.. Nice! hmm i dunno how to explain, I put the curtain into the bracket..so the corners are 'dead' because it's stuck in the bracket..will try to take a picture for u.. Thanks. Your picture will be very useful. I posted a pic of my curtain problem here
  15. Finally, the floor has been washed and major work done (except for leaking and door issue). So I hung up the curtains. Gasp, there is a gap such that the curtains do not cover the window grills. Here's a close up: contractor said the drill can't fix the bracket all the way to the end. and for such system to work, windows can't end at the edge of the walls, else there would certainly be a gap. anyone could advise how to avoid the gap without changing the rod?
  16. Hi, Sorry I have more questions on your curtain system. I bought the rod and brackets from Ikea too, I think we are using the same system. But as the bracket cannot go all the way to the corner, my curtains does not cover the window grill completely. From your picture, it doesn't seem to be a problem. How do you get the curtain fabric beyond the bracket? You also put your curtain through the pole hor?
  17. That's nice. Gd service. Look fwd to see ur pics soon.
  18. Thanks Princess. Still waiting for HDB to catch hold of the owner upstair. Oh dear, to have a leakage on wardrobe sounds horrid. In the end did you find out the cause? I thought leakages usually occur in kitchen and toilets...
  19. just to chip in a thought, you need to consider the size of your tv too. larger tvs can afford lower consoles. now the trend are all low consoles but doesn't seem comfortable to me personally.
  20. Wow, I like the color of your papa bear chair! This is mustard color? I wanted to get something mustard colored but was worried that it wouldn't look nice with wood tone. but yours look great.
  21. Thanks Kenjo, Rhin and Sygnur. I went up to the neighbour one floor above upon seeing the water leakage on Sunday. Couldn't see anything abnormal, and don't look like they splash wash the floor. Actually I already notified HDB last week and the officer came down today. Guess what, I discover another spot leaking even before the officer step in. the bathroom pipe area show water marks. The officer said the bathroom pipe under Town Council, so he need to notify them. The most serious leaking area beside the light was puzzling to him, he need to see the unit upstair, but the aunty happened to be not at home when we went up. As for the portion above the stove, because its boxed up, he can't see if anything wrong with the pipe. he say shouldn't box up like this. When I told my contractor, he say he did mention upfront the complication of calcium silicate box up if leakage. But I really didn't recall him saying this. But anyway, he say he will remove the box up so that the hdb officer can see what is wrong. Sigh... I just feel I'm the most unfortunate house owner.
  22. My TV console is 1.7m while sofa is 1.9+m. I think depends on the layout of your living hall too?
  23. Oh, they have clearance sales? I like their things but am quite tight in my budget. That's great news. just to chip in on tv console, i read somewhere that tv console should be around 2/3 the length of sofa. But I didn't consciously follow also.
  24. nice! your bed looks grand. the change of curtain also gave your room a very different feel. for the tables, did you try room of woods? but I think for them, also need to wait some months for it to be made overseas then delivered.
  25. sigh, discover another area leaking, and this time, its very obvious leaking. first pic on the top left was the spot I have been observing for some time. the rest of the pics are the same spot, just beside the light, and discovered only today. It just make me feel that this is a crumbling house, no matter what I do, old house is old house.
