wat is tapping ?I'm not an expert but I think it's something in the sense that a good electrical point shd try to get its power source direct from the db box. But to cut cost and save trouble, esp when additional additional electrical points after some yrs, some pple 'tap' another electrical point to be the power provider for a new point. Not sure if I'm clear...

25th floor, grilles or no grilles? Thought of only installing in the kitchen cos that is the only window next to neighhbour unit.25th floor does look a bit scary without grilles but then again, we are not always going to stand at the windows and look vertical down. Really dilemma, cos do not like the look of being "cage in" yet as some said, for safety. My sis already jokingly said she not bringing my nephew to my house liao ...
I think the main thing is whether there will be kids living or coming to your house. No kids (and dogs) allowed in my house.. so no grilles...

Hi there is it normal for the TV manufacturer to not provide antenna if it's a necessity for the TV to function properly?? If so isn't it very odd for Samsung not to include it in the package? Is it just Samsung or all TV manufacturer does that?

hi there...actually, the process was more like i choose the film (based on different specifications) from a thick bound catalogue...i asked him how much, and he just quote (like say S$3.50)..it is all in...so i dont really know the ratio between material vs labour costs..
before i engaged Danny, my contractor recommended a window film installer to me working at P*Doors...he was freelancing a bit on the side...the window film samples he showed me was 2 pieces of A4 paper..with small strips cut out and stapled and description of the film by the side..from WindowSS i think....quite unprofessional looking..plus the tiler quoted me upfront S$4/- per sqft (material + labour)...at first i thought it was reasonable and wanted to agree on the spot..but i took the conservative way and said i'll only confirm after checking ard the next day..
guess what? S$4/ can get very good american-made film! thank goodness i didnt agree with that installer..then i called up this film company (A&B Films) the next day and they directed me to Danny cos this A&B is a wholesaler supplying films (you can see their catalogue) but they can recommend installers.....tat's the story of how i got to know Danny...
Oh I see! Actually I'm also awaiting a quote from P*door cos was looking for doors and incidentally found them to be doing film too. The manager said will give me good price cos I'm getting doors from him. Same like what you said, it's the windowSS type with small strips cut out. hehe.. I didn't think too much of it cos he invited me to go down their balestier showroom to see the actual sample. Let's see how much they quote me... thanks so much for sharing your quotes, now i can have a better idea.

Hi there I'm being quoted $500 for a full height shoe cabinet with laminate finish. But need to top up $200 for mirror door finish. Is that fair? Thanks!
-
hi there...The quotation that Danny quoted includes the labour charges for installation plus film....
As i did not have existing film, i am not sure whether there will be any charge for removal of existing film..
best advice is just to give him a ring and ask....no harm in asking over the phone
Thanks blackmango juice
Do you remember what was the "ratio" of your cost for material vs labour cost? Is it true that labour cost will overwhelm the material cost?

the definition on classic doors from most contractors/IDs are that they are hollow... so will have the hollow sound.perhaps the one quoted on your reno contract is high quality classic doors. but never really heard of it lah.
gee...

ya...that means a lot of wire tapping here and there.do make sure and confirm with them that there will be no tapping of wires.
a double 13a socket should have 2 pairs of wires running all the way from the fusebox.
I didn't even know abt 'tapping' concept.. haha.. but my ID volunteered the info that there is no tapping of wires. apparently the previous owner's wires were tapped all over the place.

Oh! so the $100 one is the one u got from another shop is it?

my ID told me that PUB testing is not mandatory and most home owners don't do it. Interestingly enough, the electrician sub-contracted by my ID had initially thought we wanted PUB testing. Hence he charged us 100% more than what he normally does. We found out after we complained abt his overcharging for our normal job (change of electrical switches only, no rewiring) vs usual quotes we found in the mkt. Upon communication then did we realise that he had thought we wanted PUB testing. And when we confirmed that we don't need the testing, he offered to do rewiring for the whole house at a price even cheaper than the original quote for no rewiring.

PM U the contact lor...Thanks HSH21! To clarify hor, you said you got the system and the remote control from different shops in IMM. Is the one you PM me for the remote that cost $690 alone? And you paid separately for the laundry poles etc itself?
-
HSH21, cld you send me the IMM shop name too? Thanks!

mintee: most IDs charged us btw $130 to $160 for classic doors. free installation & painting, comes with lockset. i think u r being chopped.cornetto.. i also think so leh. The reno contract said the door would be "semi-core".. any idea whether that means it's classic or nyatoh or in between??
