  1. Latest addition in my home.... photo.png by BachelorettePad, on Flickr Took me almost three hours to assemble the two racks based on a Japanese manual (can't believe my bad luck).. Another use for the rack.. (Pix taken from Internet) image.jpeg by BachelorettePad, on Flickr On a side note, had a friend over for lunch today. Lunch was 'deconstructed seafood horfun' - the ingredients were cooked and served separately. It's a crazy idea but we had fun in the kitchen. Here's our atas version of the dish - steamed scallops on shells, grilled prawns, stir fried fish and veg. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr
  2. hi, sorry for the late reply...yup its from Howards world

  7. After-Reno (MBR bathroom) photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr This is my bathroom light, which is actually a dining light! There is a small story behind it. I first saw t his light in the picture below. I fell in love with it and wanted to recreate the look in my dining room. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr I had no idea where to buy the light and spent about a month googling randomly. Finally I came across a US website that had this light. So I bought it and got it shipped to spore. but the real thing was a little letdown because it looked a bit cheap. ID didn't like it and I suspect he secretly hoped I would banish the light to Siberia In the end, I decided to install it in my bathroom, rather than give it away. I quite like it now as I think it makes my bathroom looks a bit more special.
  8. After-Reno (MBR bathroom) photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr As you can see, there is a water pipe that juts out from the floor. ID told me he had never seen such a pipe before! We spent a long time thinking about how to hide it. Several options were explored, ranging from doing smth like a tiny false wall around it, covering it with carpentry, to a more bizarre idea from me - put a piece of wood on top of the pipe to turn it into a tiny table ! In the end, I decided not to hide the pipe and just live with it. Now I hardly even notice it. And I'm so glad I didn't want a vanity cabinet. Now the tiny bathroom is so much more spacious. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr Basically, the decor in the bathroom is feminine, cosy, clean and simple. I tried very hard to keep the amount of stainless steel/metal to a minimum. That's why my toiletries rack is plastic and my towel hanger is wood with a bit of metal. The use of white and cream gives it a very cosy feel, especially on a dark rainy day.
  9. Finally the most hectic part of Dec is over for me and with 2013 coming to a close, I better do a proper before-and-after record of my renovation before I get lazy and disappear from Renotalk. To recap, here is my floor plan - a 5(I) model in a central location. It originally had 3+1 rooms but the first owner hacked down the study room. The result is a big living room and a big dining room. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr Let's start with the MBR bathroom, which I hardly wrote about in this blog. I recall when I first viewed the flat, I was very taken in by the soft cosy cream colour throughout the place. But the MBR bathroom was a major letdown. The sellers chose brown tiles which I really disliked and I couldn't bring myself to go into the bathroom. i only stepped inside one month after collecting the keys because I had to discuss with my ID what to do with it. Here are the pre-reno shots: photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr The cabinet was too big for the bathroom but the sellers wanted to hide an ugly water pipe below, which posed quite a big headache to ID and I. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr Just look at the tiles... Sigh.....
  10. Haha! Dont look at food pix at night or else u can't go to sleep
  11. Hi, My friend bought them from Fullerton hotel during a Xmas goodies sale. Not sure if they are still on sale.
  12. And we were all perverts! We tore off and ate the head, hands and legs, left with just the torso! How's your Reno coming along? Any Xmas break in the Reno?
  13. Those gingerbread men were store bought .. I'm no good at making sweet stuff. Im better with savory food. Made some pies but they were not captured in the pix. Here are some random shots of my contributions to other pig-out sessions. I'm a terrible glutton. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr
  14. Finally hosted my first gathering on Christmas day but I was so busy playing host, serving food and making coffee that I didn't have time to take photographs of the party. I only had one pix, because my guests were busy eating and chatting that no one posed for me..hahaha.... photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr and at the request of my fren, here are my Scandinavian containers that stack up like Russian dolls photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr
  15. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr Finally the blinds are in...took me so many months to decide on these. I was using curtains with IKEA rods for five months but felt that curtains didnt go with the look in the living and dining area. So decided to change to blinds, but it was a rather tough decision. Not only bcos of costs but because I actually like the IKEA curtain rods, they are cheap and so easy to use. The rings slide on smoothly and it's so easy to hang and remove the curtains. The rods were installed by my super nice ID during Reno so I hope he won't freak out if he sees this. His effort is not entirely wasted as I'm still using curtains in my 3 bedrooms. And time to bring out the plants to the balcony photo.png by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.png by BachelorettePad, on Flickr
  16. Blinds for balcony and living room !
  17. Haha! It's really too short for my study room. I'm looking for a longish table
  18. Hi Gregc! I was getting blinds installed at balcony and living. After using curtains for 5 months, I decided to switch to blinds in liVing and balcony. My water leak problem is not solved.. Today while vacuuming I discovered a new stain which is at the wall near my wardrobe. And then I realized that even if I'm willing to spend the money changing my MBR window, I wouldn't be able to do it because my wardrobe is really close to the window. I doubt the workers have the space to remove and install the window. So it seems like I'm stuck with the problem.. How's your new place? Saw the table you put up for sale. Too bad it's too short for my wall or else I would have bought from you. It looks good.
  19. It's the eve of Xmas eve and guess what? My place looks like it's undergoing renovations again!! photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr I blame it on my job for this really last minute, last of 2013 home improvement project but at the same time, I think it's really hilarious Im supposed to be hosting Xmas tea at my new place and EVERYTHING is not ready! My friends asked if I'm sure I really want a Xmas gathering on wednesday. Hahaha! Of course the party goes on..because I intend to do my whirlwind superman non-stop routine from now till Xmas morning. And on Boxing Day, stay in bed whole day with aching bones and muscles , headache and sore throat Merry Xmas everyone! Hope you have a good holiday in your cosy homes
  20. Thanks ! This is a nice retro touch to smth modern
  21. Thanks! I think I saw this on amazon, right?
  22. I actually thought it was a clock!
  23. Hello, I initially wanted caesarstone but decided at the last minute to just use normal solid surface. Although I cook often, it's mostly light cooking with little oil. So no point spending so much on caesarstone
  24. Dropped by a vintage shop this afternoon. It was a small little shop opened by a nice couple and they sell real vintage stuff, not replicas. I was having a hard time deciding between a camera and a radio till I spotted some interesting vintage car paraphernalia. It's strange that I noticed them since I know nothing about cars and I don't even drive. But I guess it's fate. So here they are photo.png by BachelorettePad, on Flickr A Buick Eight 1930s steering wheel , a 1950s oil pressure and temperature gauge, and a license plate with a tear at the bottom because it was ripped off from the car (no idea how old it is). They are so full of character that I wonder what's the story behind each of them. photo.png by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.png by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.png by BachelorettePad, on Flickr Have asked the shop to source for a vintage radio or jukebox for me. Hope they find it soon !
