  1. We intend to visit NZ's fjorland regions and the famous Milford sound, Fax and FranJoseph glacier.

But we dun intend to do self drive , what is the best option?

we tot of package tour but afraid no package tour will cover all these palces.

for bus tour is it ok to book there? looks expensive to me some cost like 2.5k for 11 day land tour!!

  2. Degree is one thing, the other aspect is working experience else your pay will more or less remain there.

i am in engineering technical field, but in order to go into management, i think getting an MBA will allow me the break through i need. i have to start somewhere, my current environment is very good for studying.

i do have 5-6 year of experience but it's a technical field not management. So etting an MBA hopefully will allow me into management. :dunno:

  13. parent-child love is conditional. What is the condition? That it is reciprocative.

impossible for a human to love another who is no receiprocation. Will u still love a man if he soes not reciprocate the love, will a parent still love a child if the child is not reciprocative? Getting an A1 is too simplistic an example to brush it off, what is the child is not fillial, what if the child only seeks to want inheritance and not parents? will parental love still persist?

as for ur 2nd point, u r agreeing with me regarding romantic love being conditional.

So my point still stand -> human love is conditional.

That is so untrue. I do know of living examples of children of being not fillial, and yet, the parents will still love them. To parents, their children are just like part of their lives and bodies. Do you chop away a part of your flesh if it is not perfect? You won't right?

IMHO, no matter what, all parents will love their children. I don't think many people give birth for the sake of hoping their children will reciprocate their love.

I used to be so rebellious back then. My mum told me this " No matter how bad or naughty you turned to, you will always be my daughter. The bond and love will never change."

I felt so unjust for all the parents out there after reading what you wrote above. :D

seems like u selectively quote me when u answer my post. Think we here to exchange ideas, if u dun agree with me, we can agree to disagree amicably. Why resort to stirring up negative sentiments towards me? :D

i said will a parent still love the child when he/she plot to have the inheritance rather than the parents? True not many ppl give birth so that child reciprocate their love at first but when the child si grown up, honestly the parents will seek reciprocation in love and affection, imagine a child who does not call u 'mum' and 'dad' when u come home? Regarding the examples of your mum, anyone can pluck examples out of thin air. :D

i feel so sad for u when i read this

u mean ur spouse love u not for the person u are but for the sex u're able to give?tis is soo superficial

so if unluckily anything happened and u're not able to have sex with ur spouse, there will be no love?

i will see that as using the person as a sex tool rather than love between a man and a woman.

    i agree with Kat.

there is 1 living example within my family. and parents' love is unconditional. they do not expect their children to be able to take care of them when they're old. the only thing they hope for is that their children are able to live well, eat well and dress well.

whether parents' love is reciprocated anot, depend on how filial the child is. even if the child desert the parents, deep down in the parents' heart, they still wish him to be well. Isnt this called unconditional love?

think you r misunderstanding my post. I am saying the romantic love between man and woman has to have the sexual element, why? cos that's the way we are wired up. Which is why there is difference in parental love, friendship love and romantic love. friendship love and parental has no sexual elements but romantic love has.

Notice i did not say spouse love for sake of me able to give sex.

Guys get interested in a gal because he is sexually attracted to a gal, that's the initial spark for the courtship as time progress , if the gal suffer mishap in her looks, other factors play apart becuase he has been with her long enough , intimacy, friendship, trust comes into play. But the initial spark is always sexual attraction.

this is natural and the ladies like it also when men is attracted to their looks besides their inner beauty, i mean a gal will not be very happy also if the bf say i love u cos of ur inner beauty only, you external beauty holds no attraction. So here lies the point i want to make that Romantic love has to have the sexual element. So far i have not encountered couples in romantic love who never engage in sexual intimacy.

This may seemed base idea to you but strip it down to bare essentials, it is like this, u just cannot separate romantic love and sexual intimacy away, it's like...it's like eating chendol without gula melaka, does not cut it. :)

I noe gals like the idea of romantic love apart from sex, cos it sounded base so it's no wonder the postings that disagree with me are from ladies. Well, will be good to hear from the guys too. Guys and ladies just think differently, celebrate the differences. :D

  14. Ic. So the love of your mum and dad to you is also conditional too? That you must be a good boy good girl then they will love you? That you must score A1 then they love you?

You should be the one to get real. You should not sterotype all humans and claimed human love is always conditional.

Anyway I am talking about the meaning of love in my opinion. Of course not every human love another without condition, hence the situation of TS.

As for sex, of course it will always come between man and woman. But when one reach a certain level, sex is no longer the main point anymore.

parent-child love is conditional.

  15. sorry, ride on this thread abit..

    furama city center

    holiday inn atrium

    holiday inn park view

    m hotel

    park hotel orchard

which will you choose, and why?

We chose holiday inn atrium becuase of the the location which is near Zion road and Special Moments

Chinese Dinner Menu , which has 9 dishes cost $708/table, free flow of beer and 1 bottle of wine per table u open, plus they give another 6 bottles free. so alchohol we got it covered.

they also give 2 night hotel stay. they also giove 30% guest free parking, pay 70% of ur invitation cards. :bangwall:

  16. There is no condition in love. Love is about trust, is about feeling happy for no reason, is about wanting to be with another person, is about letting go for his/her best interest, is about desir-ing each other, is about sharing happiness and sorrow, is about affectionate towards one another. It is not about what other people do, is not about controlling, possessing, money, sex.

unconditional love only God can give la. Human love is always conditional, think u have to get real a bit here.

just in case u do not know, to guys, practically the romantic love in greek is called Eros and always have to do with sex. So i disagree with ya. so love haa have to do with sex when it come to between a man and a woman. Sorry , me very down to earth so i speak earthly things.

To the TS, i can only say since u made a decision, just go along and enjoy the decision. no point keep thinking of what if this what if that , then u will never be happy! now seemed everything settled, got money to spend, got attention from the man, he come home sure want 'happy time', so u also happy with him, who know few months down the road, u become happy mummy with nice child, then u go inot the next pahse of your life and so on. :bangwall:

  17. Yes to a certain extent i do feel that i already have degree, another degree even though of different field is not so attractive to me. Even technical field , i would be doing a master of science instead of a basic degree. besides, i do think a MBA will not be as though as a basic degree it is a more basic course to equip ppl who have already foundation to go to management or financial.

So i will see if i can get into a biz hons programme for part time that is 2 years, realluy doubt if there is any.

    i mean "as tough"

  18. About networking while doing a MBA, well its right and wrong. I believe they are talking about executive MBA where one of the entry criteria is like a significant no of years of relevant working experience (eg 10 yrs in business management position). The normal MBAs will have alot of students with had very basic working experience (like me that time!! Hehe).

Now even if you can really meet some you-tou-you-lian kind of people, I suspect it won't be too useful to you because you are going to switch career, right? To you, they are too far ahead already, and to them you are as good as a fresh graduate because whatever they say you might not understand.

Coursework-wise, well yes some of the marketing/management subjects you can just smoke thru if you understand it. However how confident are you to graduate with flying colours? Remember in Singapore, grades are quite impt to employers, esp big firms, MNCs.

As for duration, there are various business degree courses out there that can be completed within two years, even on part-time basis. Like above suggested, go for a honours program and you won't be wrong.

Lastly, don't mind me asking, are you more keen in an MBA compared to degree because of the stigma that its a 'higher' qualification, or that it sounds funny to be doing another degree when you are already a degree-holder now? Well at the end of the day there is no right or wrong, its really up to you.

But what I am trying to put to you is myself, a MBA holder but sometimes still losing out to those with business hons degrees. You might have a different luck with employers, some good friends who are willing to support you when you switch careers, so consider all factors and make your best choice.

    Good luck! :good::paint:

  19. :notti:

Yup, the photoshhot process is no doubt tiring, but it's really fun and memorable too.. Especially when we are taking the final shots at Changi Beach. Really sweet leh.. :P

Wow, we got many similar situations leh. :)

My AD PG & VG also confirmed liao. But haven confirm JP yet. Lucky Air gave me 1 of her contact for JP.. PS taken like u, viewing the final layout of the album next Tuesday. Will be getting the CD rom and remaining photos by then. (Air & Fifi : Don't forget to exchange photos viewing with me!:notti:! )

1 thing, I haven got the wedding bands yet!:notti: Arghhh.. I totally forgot about it. !!

We collected our keys last month end and our renovation had just started last week. Now, it's the hacking processes. With do away with all the floor and wall tiles. This Saturday, will start laying the new wall and floor tiles.

As for our furniture and applicances, we had got almost everything liao. Sofa, TV, dining table, bed + mattress, fridge, washing machine etc... Only left the lightings, sinks and taps etc..

Our guest list, montage and march in songs are all NOT prepared yet.

Aiyo... Typing all these out is making me very anxious suddenly... :P

can share share some songs, me totally outdated. :notti:

  20. I am concerned about the validity of that MBA that you got accepted for.

Take me for eg, I was an engrg diploma holder, then move on to study business. Struggling like mad! Unlike engrg, where everything is very straightforward (ie correct means correct, wrong means wrong), many business modules got no right/wrong answer; its how you answer the question. This was very alien to me, but managed to pull thru and graduated.

Then when I was taking my MBA, so many things are related to my basic degree, of which I wouldn't have understood had not taken the basic degree. There's no basic foundation already, because you are supposed to have that. So its a wonder how you would be able to pull thru at this stage, and why you can be accepted in the first place.

Lastly, about relevance/usefulness of a MBA, well just look at the job ads' requirements: Its always degree/MBA. Very seldom you see requirements stating ONLY MBA. When I checked with the guys who are sitting besides me waiting for interview, more than half the time they are just degree-holders.

In short: My suggestion is that you take up a basic business degree, eg SIM's UOL course that has honours program as well. Study hard, work your foundation and get a 2nd upp or even 1st class. That will beat any MBAs anytime, especially the one you are applying for.

Everyone can go take MBA, pay money only what. But not everyone can get hons in their basic degree, and that's what employers are looking for. In today's context, especially when we are talking about entry-level, MBA is no longer a higher qualification; its more of an enrichment program for experienced businessmen and senior management to move up the ladder.

    Hope this helps; good luck!!

Thanks Zhirk for your points. Im addition to the course content, the CNA show on MBA interviewed a recruiter and also a grad from NTU MBA. Both also agreed that one of the perks from the MBA is the network u gain there which u would otherwise not have if u stayed in your line of profession. Which both e recruiter and the graduate agreed.

Otherwise the recuiter say a MBA may not lead to higher pay immediately.

I think for MBA course, there are some basic modules you have to take. like basic accounting which will be a breeze for those who have the background. But for me, i will need to learn from scratch.

But it is only 1 module, the rest of the modules like marketing, handling cross cultural is more like how u answer the questions. So as long as i able to pull thru the more accounting related modules, i should be ok.

the UWA MBA is a general mba not a mba for financial engineering which will be much tougher.

it will take me another 3 years full time to do a biz degree course. if part time it could stretch to 5 years, that will be a bit too long, dun u think so? :dunno:

  21. Hi guys,

i am thinking of doing a mba. but i do not think i can qualify for a ivy league school MBA as i have only 2nd lower honours. also i think i may not wat to spend time to do the gmat.

i am thinking of doing the university of western Australia MBA. this does not require gmat. also it is near my place which is at tiong bahru psd academy, cost 25k

i am engineering background in R&D line but i hope to break into business side be it electronic mnc or not it does not matter as i want away from technical work, i had enuff.

i watch the sense and sensibilities which a recruiter say that doing a local or overseas mba does not differ much to employer unless ur mba is from ivy league schools. which is why i thinking of mab from UWA since SMU or NTU or UWA does not matter and i do not have to waster precious time to get the gmat for entry. infact i have already received a call that a acceptance letter has been sent to me.

any one of u guys can give me advice? or if u have taken the MBA from UWA , pls tell me if it is good in furthering ur career and help me achieve my objective of diversifying away from engineering with a better pay? :notti:

  22. :notti:

I agree with you that this is once in a lifetime so definitely will be tempted to top up alot for photos but if your main concern has always been keeping to budget, shouldn't you maintain a firm stand? If you already know it's daylight robbery, why you still willingly pay??

They take so many photos also complain, take not enough photos also complain. What to do??

Actually your package of 36 photos is considered alot already, it's your decision later that you had wanted to top up more. My package only allow me 30 photos.

If you think "'wow this nice, that one nice, almost everyone nice' " and $$ is a concern, you should have selected the elimination process...."'wow this nice but that one nicer so I take that instead" then you wouldn't rave and rant abt how much extra you paid for your photos. And come on, it's no secret that bridal shops are out to tok us, but how much they can tok out of you depends on you.

I find it a joke that you willingly top up so much then whine about how the bridal shop is charging you for the photos. Funny.

No, I unwillingly top up so much , the rest of ur sentence is correct except that it's not funny. regarding why i unwilling but still pay i will explain below.

We did do the selection process but they did do some hard selling by telling us if we want to split the 2 albums, anything less than 30 photos for digital , the digital album will not look good as it will look lacking in content.

Well it may not seemed much of hard sell but to be caught on the spot and have to make a decision and after a hard day's work, u kinda good ok what the heck, i still have 1001 things for wedding to prepare. Which is why i give the advice: Dun bring ur credit card or cheque book down, think about it and give them an answer later if not sure.

For me it's great that they take so many photos, no problem, me ranting about is they hide the 'killer cost' in the extra digital photos they will charge. (kinda like pseudo fine print, i mean how many of us really can gauge how much we will top up, if we had know we need to top up 2k more, we wil also really re-consider, as i said even if we buy we will be more guarded against these rouge Bridal shops)

Regarding my rantings, Air, think about it logically: if i had taken the step to reconsider the decision, i will not be here ranting, in fact i will gloat about about the savings and even if i had paid up i will have done it eye wide open. The reason i rant is because i failed to take the step to reconsider on the spot.

Thanks everyone for your patience and kind understanding, i do need to let off steam, thanks for bearing with me. kam sia kam sia :P

  23. Hmm...but they didn't force you to top up one mah, if you are firm, you wouldn't have topped up any. It's funny to me hw you can be angry with the bridal shop when it's up to your discretion whether you want to top up the photos or not. If you think the price of one photo is expensive then don't top up lah. Even if want, also don't top up so much. They didn't force a knife down your throat to ask you to top up to 2k right??

I don't think it's fair to put all the blame on the bridal shop.

To be fair, all bridal shops charge cut-throat prices for additional photos. It's up to you how much you want to pay for the additional photos and whether you are willing to pay that price.

Yep, no force but why charge so high? I mean it's like charging very high medical fees when ur wife delivering. nobody force u to pay right? But they know u will pay! This is daylight robbery! :P

They know everyone knows it's once in a life time and everyone wanna good memories thru the photos so they charge super high price to take advantage of the plight of the newly weds. This to me unreasonable pricing, u can call it free market but the market i feel is totally mispriced and disadvantagous to the consumers.

I did pay up and nobody hardsell to me(no need hardsell as everyone knows it is once in lifetime, why waste saliva) but as I said later it left a bitter taste in my mouth due to the daylight- robbery pricing !

And exactly becuase it is once in lifetime, how do we know on average howmany photos we will choose? Hence stating in the initial package 36 photos seemed a lot until u see the stacks of phootos u can choose from and u go 'wow this nice, that one nice, almost everyone nice' :bangwall:

    JXXX Bridal is 奸商! :yamseng:

  24. relacker, i am with FB. just chose the pics. yeah, $95 is really v expensive lor. my SO nag and nag at me after paying for the top up. n they are real stict. cos they want to earn ur $$$$ thru topping up. if not, they dun have much time to carrot us liao.

JB is a newer studio right? gowns are limited? hw much is ur package? can share?

2998 package. but we top up 2k for photos. So now around 5k.

inside package gives us 36 photos for album of which 10 digital, 26 full. We chose additonal 28 photos more. so they make it into 34 digital and 30 full. separate into 2x albums.

of course they also blah blah gives us some 8x photos to give relative, some 23x small album, 1x 15R, 1 table top blah blah and some other things in the contract i have to refer to get the detailed info but....sianz liao. Very angry cos tot we got a good eal when we get it 2998 now it is like a sting in the tail with the top up. totally unreasonable!
