  1. serious?? i'll go check it out i graduate in a couple of months - don't wanna miss this great opportunity
  2. rofl nice and succint summary. cantona7, i think as of now the toshiba seems to be a good deal... even if you can't get the high end one, you can also go for a slightly lower end one which will fit nicely into your budget. 2.5K will get you a v gd lappie, don't need to worry. My advice to you is to take 2 days to do your shopping - one day at the IT fair and then after that go down to Sim Lim to see if they can better that offer. From there, you can make the best choice! I set up my own company when I was 21. We were a one stop mini advertising company, doing events, graphic design, videography, photography and even had our own in house modelling agency. sold it off a couple of months ago so that's now history. after my studies? got jobs to recommend? NUS ties up with a lot of companies if I'm not wrong... we get discounts on most of the lappies. But only one time. Not for multiple purchases

I also don't know your budget to be frank. But since this is a wish list, I put in my favourite Toshiba laptop - Toshiba Satellite P105-S6217. COMES WITH FREAKING HARMAN/KARDON BUILT IN SPEAKERS CAN?? *faint* * Processor:Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5500 * Memory: 2GB PC-4200 DDR2 Memory * Hard Drive: 200GB Serial ATA Hard Drive * Screen: 17.0-inch Widescreen TruBrite LCD 1440 x 900 resolution * OS: Windows Vista Home Premium * TV Tuner: Toshiba USB HDTV Tuner - * Graphics: nVidia GeForce Go 7300 with 128MB SDRAM * Communications: Toshiba V.92 Software Modem Intel PRO Network Connection 10/100/1000 Base-TX Ethernet Integrated Wireless LAN Network Connection 3945ABG 802.11a/b/g * Ports: o 4 USB 2.0 ports o 1 FireWire (also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link) o 1 VGA monitor port o 1 S-Video out o 1 PCMCIA (or PC Card) slot (Type II, PCMCIA R2.01, PC Card16, CardBus) o 1 ExpressCard/54 Slot (also supports ExpressCard/34) o 5-in-1 memory card reader (Secure Digital, MultiMedia, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, xD Picture Card) o 1 headphone jack, 1 microphone jack o 1 S/PDIF digital audio output (for connecting to a home theater receiver) * Dimensions: Width 15.5 x Depth 10.8 x Height 1.41 inch Weight - 7.1 pounds Pros * Nice design with the Blue Onyx lid, looks thinner than it actually is with the sloping front * Speakers provide quality sound * Very sturdy body and no flexing to the case * Flexible options and configurations to fit anyone's budget and requirements * Quality display, glossy finish and bold colors will appeal to those seeking multimedia laptop Cons * Fan has weird behavior, will kick in and out quickly and can get annoying * Battery life of only 1 hour is poor * A ton of junk software pre-installed slows the system down * Keyboard has some flex issues and odd sized buttons on the right side Bro, you made my life a bit difficult cause I really don't know what your budget is and what the hot deals at the IT show are cause maybe one of the models you selected might be going for a song at the IT show. But I wouldn't know. I also can't pick based on looks or personal preference cause that's subjective. However, assuming no budget and also assuming that they're all cheaper now cause of the IT show, it's pretty obvious that I would go for the Toshiba.
  4. nah i'm not discouraged mate just tired. *yawn* and stressed too!
  5. sigh... i feel as if i've aged 10 years in the past couple of months. Apart from the stress generated by the whole house and renovation thing, there's also the stress from the ROM, the AD next year, not to mention the financial burden. Don't get me wrong - this financial burden will be greatly eased in a couple of months, something I'm extremely confident of. But at the moment, it's stressful. So stressful in fact that I couldn't sleep at all last night. Logged onto this forum in the middle of the night, trying to gleam more ideas. But the more I read, the more stressed I got. I'm also concurrently talking to the hotels on our shortlist because our AD next year happens to fall on a popular and supposedly auspicious date, which means if I want everything perfect for my FW, I have to book at least a year in advance... then after that, today still gotta go for lectures in sch... Did I mention the stress from school too? Got papers piling up that are due pretty soon... Thank God I sold off my company a couple of months back. If not, I can really prepare to hang myself sia...
  6. chuckle so how old are you? oh wait, it's not polite to ask a woman for her age. (although by right, this should only apply to the old ones.) I guess you're around our ages? sigh... super tired. feel like the walking dead...
  7. Ok, not sure if I should say this in here, but wth. Basically, even though the kitchen is my wife's domain, I was the one who insisted that we buy the cuizino hood, hob and built in oven. Reason being the company which I set up once worked very closely with APS marketing in that we handled their marketing material for their products, including cuizino. I really don't want to go into much detail in here in case my identity is revealed even further but basically, after the months and months of working so closely to APS and Cuizino, I am almost certain of the brand's quality. I'm NOT saying that the other brands aren't good, but in my book, Cuizino is amazing, especially at that price. I have nothing but praise for Cuizino. On the other hand, I have nothing much good to say about their official distributor in Sg, APS. So for those expecting good customer service or good product knowledge about what they carry or even good after sales service in terms of warranty and the like, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. Once again, this is based on personal experiences and wouldn't like to talk more in case I get sued for libel. !!
  8. look at it this way - the faster you speedboat, the sooner you can retire and stop working! yay! !! i don't believe you guys. everybody in here claims to be older...
  9. rofl "Sian Jian Hou Sha"
  10. THAT'S THE PROBLEM! I see my own art and I also want to laugh...
  11. graffiti? cannot la! if i wanted graffiti, i would painted myself. the trouble with getting Fs all my life for art means that i can't do my own mural. but an exact copy of your wall would be nice. !!
  12. lol you guys aren't that old. merely more experienced... so wait - we can't be the youngest in here right???? mist, your wall murals are very nice!! !! i pay you, you draw for me. want??
  13. yup we've already chosen the date (exactly one year later so that we won't get confused as to which date would be our proper anniversary. We also consulted the FS master and he says that this date is fine for us). Venue has been shortlisted but havn't book yet, so should be booking soon.
  14. she didn't know about it. we had previously talked about the idea of getting married but nothing conclusive. !! actually this is really really sweet.... i don't dare to bring my FW into Tiffany's. I don't want to become Singapore's youngest bankrupt. hahahahaha this one is cute... i rike.
  15. actually...... don't mind me asking. how old are you guys? both jan and i are 25... are we considered young in here or average?
  16. hi it's actually on the top floor of Banyan Tree Bangkok Hotel
  17. yeah, but she has to report to me, remember?
  18. aiyoh! your hubby so bad! Terrible! actually, i said the same thing to my FW.
  19. cheers bro. you guys are always welcome to our place too. like i said previously, a 5 room flat for a young couple can get rather quiet at times.
  20. not so long bro. we've only been waiting for around one month. that's why i'm not complaining. compared to some of the people in here who waited so long, mine is nothing. although i have to admit that i'm beginning to sweat a bit... i can't wait to go to a joss stick store, buy all that's needed, and then open the door for the first time to
  21. nah... still waiting for our keys so we take this time to get more ideas from this forum, walk around to get more quotations and try to take things easy in the meantime. HDB won't reject right?? Keep getting nightmares that after waiting for so long, they suddenly tell us, "Sorry"
  22. actually..... i don't drink at home. I can't stand drinking at home anymore. There's this psychological barrier there. The last time I drank at home was when I was really upset. I hid in my room and polished off a bottle of bombay sapphire neat. When i came out of my room, my brother was shocked. He said that my entire face was green. I went to the toilet to check, really a bit greenish. ever since then, I don't drink at home. Unless I'm super stressed or upset. Other than that, the alcohol is really for guests, relatives, friends and FW. I drink coke.
