  1. There are total 4 types of services by amazon, iparcel/dhl/ups/usps. For iparcel will be under take by local courier company. As for usps, SINGPOST. Personally, I don't like Singpost for residential delivery except commercial.

Yes, Singpost delivery is very bad. They always slip the card into my letter box asking us to self collect, claiming that no one was home when they called. Ridiculous because someone is normally home and if not, my guards always help me take delivery. My guards told me they never saw the delivery guy at all so who's lying really....

When I told the Singpost counter staff about it, the aunty pointed out her mail room to me to show me the number of items that were not 'deliverable'. She said many people had complained and told me to take a form to write in. Such a waste of time, I think I will just kpkb them on their FB page if they have one. Most effective way of lighting a fire under all these lazy bottoms.

Someone working at Singpost told me the postal services was short on manpower and thus, this is what happens. Singpost has diversified into so many other areas they seem to have forgotten their core biz. Guess this is what privatisation does...

  2. Wrong, be it iparcel/DHL/UPS, deliveries are expected on saturday for residential addresses, deliveries are not expected on saturday for commercial sites except UPS, they will attempt because they dont work on sunday, only DHL capable of delivering on sunday.

Expedited shipping means you get your product within a short period, it does not mean any further, based on my experiences with amazon closed up to 5 years.

Free shipping by amazon, means they absorded the cost of delivery, value added service to customer. Customer should not be short changed any further, ie, pay for the delivery guy for any OT.

I absolutely concur. Thank u Ong.

  3. i'm sorry. if u want such good service from DHL which is excellent btw, then pay for expedited shipping

    Good morning.

Perhaps I have been lucky and never had to pay extra for the delivery service. I have had free delivery 3 times on Amazon, twice by DHL and once by i Parcel and numerous times from iHerb. All the other shipping was paid for, even if not expedited.

I think delivery companies know full well their jobs. IMHO, if consumers are expected to pay extra for weekend deliveries, then it should be stated so, as in the case of IKEA. Consumers can then decide if they want to pay for this extra convenience else have it delivered to their office etc.

If every Tom, Dick or Harry delivery men wants to ask for extras to deliver during their overtime hours, then it defeats the entire free shipping offer by Amazon and iHerb. Both these companies, being very service oriented, will definitely inform customers of any extra charges or of the 'official delivery times' don't u think?

It is almost as if your packages are being held hostage.

It is not about paying the dude. It is the principle of the matter.

  4. hi need to ask you gurus on amazon shopping.

i purchased some items using the amazon global eligible and got free shipping. items arrived and the courier guy called and say they want to deliver but they only work from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, Mon - Fri only. I requested for sat delivery and the courier requested me to compensate him for his over time hours.

I am a little surprised and wondered if i should pay this guy for his "overtime" hours. :dunno:

Never had such a thing happen to me and I have had the DHL man come to my place even on a Sunday which surprised me.

If no one else has had such an experience, maybe you can talk to Amazon CSO. Sounds like someone trying to make a quick buck...

  5. It is so lovely but I can't figure why this one is in 11 inches. Always thought they only came in even configurations for the round ones. Maybe I am wrong or the US has different sizes.

I love Le Crueset. There was quite a good promo recently. If u buy 5 pieces, 50% off all of them, 4 and 40 % off so on so forth. I normally buy them when I go to the outlet stores overseas because it is so much cheaper then I will sea mail back. Haha. Give it a shot. :good:

It was at Tangs and Robinsons! Just saw it about 2 weeks back. Don't know if it is still on. Beri good hor? Both helper and hubby will scream bloody murder if I bought. No more space in my new cabinets alr. :dunno:

  6. Great deal on amazon...if anyone is keen....i am so getting it to add to my collection. :)

  7. Since it is still working perfectly, why don't you post it up for sale?

I believe, if those disposal guy sees it in perfect condition, they will either take to sell or bring it home.

Someone once told, those removal service, sometimes bring things home or give to their relatives since the item is still good.

If you can sell it, you might be able to get a few hundred bucks back, can use for more shopping.. :notti:

Yes, I just posted it online to see if anyone wants to take it.

It was my initial plan to do that when HN said F & P will only deliver at end Aug but now the delivery is a month early so I have less time to get rid of the fridge. :jawdrop: ALso my own fault lah cos I super enthu to have new fridges in and finally be done with the kitchen works so I can start some work on my balcony...

Heh. Hopefully I sell it! :sport-smiley-003:

  8. Condo/HDB?

Karang guni now also quite selective one.

I heard it's quite hard to dispose of bulky refuse in Condo. Even some of the delivery people who used to do it for kopi $ are not keen now. They will only remove the pre-existing item that they are replacing...

my sis had to pay quite a bit of kopi $ to remove old fridge/washing machine from the house.

Actually the Fisher and Paykel guys will remove it for me FOC when they do delivery but very sayang to throw it away because it is still in fantastic condition. Partly cos I just hiao, want to change new fridges. Also, my hubby has a lot of things to store in fridge so rather consolidate into 2 side by side and more importantly, matching fridges than to let him keep in the bar fridges...

Already have friend taking over my smaller Panasonic so just left this big one.

Borrow the popularity of Kim's thread and add the photos here, just in case got people want. :) Tks tks!

  10. Dear Mrs Ng,

How do u know I'm not your hubby? :notti::notti:

Actually, this is the real me. I may appear stern and cool at home but I actually love internet shopping!

I always feel a rush whenever I click the "Place Order" button

I love the feeling of receiving parcels from DHL guys.

I love the smell of the Amazon boxes.

I love the excitement of ripping the label off the boxes, slowly opening the 2 flaps of the box, lusting the treasure within,,, :dribble::dribble:

I had to specially set up a private Amazon account so that you cannot trace me.

I even specially bought this house to store my shopping so that you will not discover...

But u still manage to track me down... :bangwall::bangwall:

Guess I will have to sleep in the living room tonight.... 8|

    Haaa..... :dancingqueen:

    Best regards

    Kim

Wah, kee siao already lah.... :drunk: Haha.

I need to get rid of my 4.5 y/o LG side by side fridge which is still in working condition. Any ideas anyone? Sell/ Karung Guni better?

  11. Hi Kim,

Have you ordered or tried to bring in Borax (controlled item here in Singapore) from Amazon before? I read and researched in the internet that Borax is an effective stain remover (for laundry and tiles)? But direct shipping from Amazon US to Singapore is super crazily expensive! Need to go through 3rd party. Thanks & have a nice weekend. :)

I did it thru Borderlinx before! It is apparently good for killing ants etc. Got it about 2 years back. Can't say it worked fantastically on the pest.

If it's for pest control, then I suggest call professional pest controllers better.... Have not tried it on laundry or tiles. I think there is some pink acidic liquid (can be found in hardware shops) that can do the stain removal.

  12. Hey Kim

Yes, can do but I am not in town at the moment.

    Will do it asap!!!:)

    Hi,
Here are the pics. Couple of points to note:
    1. I don't have a water heater
    2. There are some extra piping for the under counter alkaline water filter.
    HTH!

  13. Hi mad4bags,

Can I request 1 thing from u? Since you are the first to install the Kraus kitchen faucet and now you had aroused some interest. :P

Can you take some photos of the faucet's fittings and connections? It will roughly give an idea what need to be done to future Kraus faucet owner (Maybe myself included :notti: )

The more the merrier... Thanks!:bow:

  14. Hmm...I get a discount at ToTT cos i teach there....maybe i really should walk ard the store...LOL. thanks for the tip! As for the tap....just got approval from our ID...going to see it drawn into the plans before clicking BUY. :sport-smiley-018:

Yes, you should walk around the store! They have some interesting things I feel, although sometimes ridiculously priced when compared to what Amazon offers it at. It is much more tolerable than trying to walk around Sia Huat.

eh, the faucet was not eligible for free shipping...not sure why, maybe box was oversized....the box it came in was almost half of the size of the sink's box!

The box is **** big so I am not surprised there is no free shipping. It is also quite heavy...

The free shipping normally falls under USPS or by chance, will be iParcel. AmazonGlobal Expedited Shipping will be shipped via iParcel. AmazonGlobal Priority Shipping will be via DHL & UPS. Sometimes, Amazon do upgrade to DHL or UPS.

Also, if your item is bulky, had been by packed by manufacturer, Ie; Vornado fan or Honeywell air purifiier, Amazon does not need to "pack" again. Hence, they might use DHL/UPS "standard shipping" & ship out. It will routed longer around USA before heading HK/Korea then to SG.

Normally, those items packed in Amazon boxes, will be via USPS/iParcel. Unless you cart out via priority status/upgraded by Amazon, iParcel will be usual suspect.

Last, Amazon has a few warehouses, different wareshouses might adopt different policy in handling the shipping & ship out accordingly.

Ya, **** heng. It has always been DHL for me and the same uncle too! :thumbs up: IMO, DHL is the best of the lot. Never any problems with them when I order from iHerb or Amazon.

  15. now i am tempted to get the kitchen sink faucet from Kraus/amazon too!!

Yea the faucet seems to be eligible for free shipping!!! Yea my concern with the pull out is whether it will start to bend after some time...think it is back to a conventional trash bin.

Heh, you should, especially if there is free shipping!

As for trash cans, I really wanted a Simple Human one and was going to ship it to the horror of my hubby who thinks the bin is overpriced. No free shipping for the 40 liter one and when all added up, it would have worked out to the price Homefix is selling it for.

Anyway, I went to browse around Tott and found a Simple Human wannabe machine with foot pedal and 2 sections so I can use one for recycling and another for food waste. Was less than SGD 70. Will post pics later when I get a chance.

You might want to check Tott, was surprised to find my bin there!

  16. I managed to get the half pint ones...think those are bigger...try!! LOVELY!

There are half gallon ones too but they are not sold by Amazon. Those are the largest, followed by quart, 1.5 pints and so on so forth.

I did some conversion before I bought. Think one quart is 943 ml and a pint is 473 ml. So one quart = 2 pints?

WTH, the US of A should just join the rest of us in the metric measurement thing. :bleah:

  17. HELP HELP!!!

I could not resist, so I took the plunge & placed order for the Kraus faucet (like yrs) last Friday with fingers crossed that it will arrive not too late....to my surprise, it arrived this morning with my sink shortly after I left for work!! Woo Hoo!!

BUT my heart sank when I opened the package and found the plastic cover at the tailpiece of the faucet broken into several pieces! I also noticed that the hot & cold water copper pipes drawn in the manual were straight, but my cold water pipe is angled/bent. :(

Do you still remember how your faucet looked when it arrived in the box, before it was installed? I scrolled back to your picture and noticed that your cold water pipe also looked angled/bent, and your faucet does not seem to have that plastic cover at the tailpiece. My packaging was not damaged and everything else looks good, so I'm not sure if my faucet is actually ok or if it's damaged. The pieces of broken plastic was alarming, but I'm not sure if the broken plastic cover serves any purpose and I'm hoping that it may be just some protective cover that's meant to be removed before installation...pardon my ignorance!

Will be terok if I have to do any exchanges :(

Wanted to post a pix so you can see what I'm talking about, but paiseh, could not figure out how to do that! Hee :P

Thankfully though, the sink is BEAUTIFUL!! No regrets at all for buying this, just wished it was my original purchase, the 32", since the faucet is so huge :)

    Good morning!

I did not watch the plumber work but he used everything except the flexible s/s hoses that came with it.

I did not have a plastic piece as well. Everything came as per my photo.

Anyway, don't panic. The plumber will probably be able to sort things out. Subscribe to my theory of positive thinking when I took the risk of buying the faucet. :sport-smiley-003:

Great job on getting the faucet and sink. Post pics when it's done. It will be beautifooooooooooo. :jammin:
