  1. common bathroom work in progress: i like what i see so far..... very exciting!! :fire: :fire: :fire:
  2. contractor K manage to find guys who are experienced with mosiac tiles... in fact we had to kinda book them..... LOL gotta give the tilers drawings....
  3. the tiles are here! contractor K was nice enough to help fetch the paranakan tiles from the shop: he was complaining about the strong petroleum smell coming from these tiles..... love the way they look
  4. while waiting for PE approval, contractor K got his guys to start working on the bathrooms.... decided to do an overlay instead of hacking to cut our costs. the wife was against spending money on the bathrooms.... but I manged to convinced her that since we will be here for the next 10 - 15 years at least, we might as well do it once and do it good: chemical bath on the wall to create "gripping" surfaces:
  5. kitchen that is leads to the service yard: yard area:
  6. master bedroom..... its definitely smaller compare to my mom's 4room sengkang master... you know the minister who said that the new houses are the same size as older houses.... i think he is high when he made that comment.... haha...
  7. second bedroom with a bay window.... apparantly HDB considers bay window area as part of floor area ... its much smaller than the old sengkang 4 rooms.... its going to be tight....
  8. study with planter outside.... we are facing west so we will be getting ample sunlight! tiny planter that we plan to cover up:
  9. basically the first 2 rooms walls will be hacked to create a larger commual space:
  10. dining area beside kitchen, will be hacking away the walls:
  11. initially we wanted the Haiku fans but we realised that it did not fit in with our theme.... anyway it was simply too expensive at $1100 - $1200 so we went budget and got the relite petit in black..... fits in perfectly with our black lighting fixtures... its 80% cheaper... great savings which we can use for the kitchen's blum system
  12. couch from Whitewood with adjustable headrest. but we chose distress brown fargo leather instead of black:
  13. dining area funiture: bludot table from Grafunkt. solid weather oak table top. very robust despite its seemingly hunble appearance and livioni piuma chairs from Grafunkt. Surprisingly light and well constructed. made in italy.
  14. more inspirations.... most likely will be using this football mosiac: our mirror will probably look like this as well
  15. some bathroom concepts: perhaps peranakan tiles?: you can get this from an old tile shop at Whampoa near the Boon Keng mrt:
  16. simulation to help us determine height and position:
  17. ok.... so for dining area lighting, we decided to go for the Vessel Lamp + Plumen light bulb design by Samuel Wilkinson.... an up and coming British designer.... you can get this from Grafunkt and Blackhole.... the damage is about $600++ each. another consideration was the shadow lighting but its was way more expensive for a cluster of 5:
  18. ....as the saying goes..... the kitchen is the heart and soul of the house! .... and the wife likes to cook.... so the kitchen island is probably the most expensive piece of furniture we will have in the house..... we spent more time debating its design compare to other items in the house.... i am just glad we finally agree on something that makes her happy.... the sink on the left, hob on the right, fridge/oven behind.... to form the chef's triangle: We have a raised step infront where the other storages are.... its a pretty common feature which hides the mess from the guests in the dining area will put a small pull out rack for condiments beside the hob: stove and fridge behind..... and a smaller counter top for rice cooker and maybe a coffee machine
  19. ok.... so next comes lighting..... we will be using mainly track lights and downlights. so the dinning room (bottom center) seems a bit dark at the moment.... need a track light there:
