  1. Hi how are your fans doing? Is it noisy? Hows the wind generation?

sorry for the late reply. yeah they are going great... powers from 1-5... we hardly go more than power 2. power 3 and above and its spins really fast and does generate some noise.

even at power 2, its generates some noise but its acceptable.... its doing quite well for a fan that costs about $179 only.... haha

  2. I love ur vessel lights? Are 2 bright enough for the dining? And one cost $600 each???

thanks! they are call Vessel, designed by samuel wilkinson. You can get them at Grafunkt for 500 - 600++, can't rememeber the costs.

2 vessels light gives a very "romantic" lighting when we wanna chill at night.... its not enough if you have guest and need proper lighting.

but we also have a track with 3 downlights for proper lighting when we need it.

  3. May I know if there were any issues in laying your peranakan tiles? Were they handpainted and from Vietnam?

I heard that the tiles stain very easily, especially during the laying/renovation process.

sorry for the late reply, I have not logged in for more than a year. :)

we did not have any issues with peranaken tiles... but they are surprisingly thick, about 1 cm... so need to take that into cosiderations.

I am not sure if they are from vietnam, but i do not think they are hand painted. they do stain over time if you are not careful. but over all its ok :)

  4. super love this table and was almost tempted to buy it but unfortunately i can't have this as my patio dining table for practical reasons.

too costly a table to be placed outdoor even though the patio is sheltered :(

glad to see that you chose it as your dining table!

sorry for the late reply, I have not logged in for more than a year. :)

yeah too exp to put outdoor.

recenly we went to graunkt again and realise they have changed the wood tecture. its more refined now and less raw/industrial.... we prefered it more raw like what we have now.

  5. hmmm... how come all photos gone? I can't see your lovely place..

i am so sorry..... it turns out photobucket provides only 10GB bandwidth a month..... and with so many people browsing the photos.... all 10GB were used up in 2 weeks!

the photos should show themselves again on 20th July when photobucket allocates another 10GB.... nothing I can do..... :bangwall:

  6. i have to admit while i am not exactly a fan of cement screed floors (reminded me too much of a typically classroom in sg), i am -totally- memorized by your duxton unit; and i am super swoon by the work area... its an ideal which i would like to have but unfortunately my current space does not have the lateral width to accommodate 2 pax side by side. Lovely way to hide the aircon and trunking too! haha

thanks man! glad you liked it!

  7. Hey Silvergorilla! I found this at Best Denki Bishan today but it was out of stock. The salesman said they only had the display set which they took out from the store about one week ago. I couldn't care so much and bought it right away ! This vintage model is always out of stock... So I'm really lucky today ! :)

wah you so heng ah..... got the last display set... another piece of the puzzle to complete your vintage style home. :good:

......I hope they gave you additional 10% off for display set..... :notti:

  8. Can i know the damage for the Blum drawers?

Just one side. The side close to the walls. Just a rough gauge will do. Thanks! :)

And so far, are the drawers good?

its very hard for me to give you the damage as my contractor go by per foot run..... he did not break down the costs of the blum fixtures...

they are smooth... German brand afterall... should be quite reliable.....

  9. Very nice place you got there!!!:good::good:

Can share where you got the bad stand at the right side of the photo? My wife got so many bags... :dunno:

bad stand? its not that bad la... I got it at Muji, but I am not sure if its still in production. you can check it out there :good:

  10. Hi, noticed you have a wall-hung WC in MBR toilet. Do check with you is it by default wall-hung type or you changed to wall-hung?

I want to shift my WC in MBR for around 1.5 feet to the right, so far two contractor tell me cannot be done... However one ID say it can be done but need to build a low-wall and change to wall-hung WC..Not sure how true is it.. Is it the case for you?

ours by default wall hung, so quite lucky in that sense, easier to wash the floor.....

shifting toilet bowl seem quite massive... think need a low wall cum built in water reservoir....

  11. Hi, the kitchen island look great! care to share how much is the dimension and damage done?

    Thanks!

the island kitchen is 335cm long, 60cm deep on the kitchen side and 40cm deep on the raised dining area side.... i can't remember the damage..... and I do not wanna remember :D

  12. The "cheaper", lesser known design pieces you have are lovely! I particularly like the Plumen energy savings bulb and the lamps by the young british designer.

I had a debate with myself regarding the ceiling lamps at the dining area and the coffeetable 5-6 mths ago. I saw three interesting ceiling lamps at a boutique near a yoga centre I frequent which I thought I might want to get hold of. I only realised the three lamps are the popular trios by a designer named Tom Dixon after I googled them. I saw the replicas at a lighting shop that has the signature hammered effect on the inner brass and was still considering getting them but settled for an unused FLY pendant lamp I bought from a french woman from craigslist instead. I remember reading a comment on this forum that FLY pendant lamp is not in fashion anymore but it doesnt bother me. It matches my 10 year old dining table and the 2 meter long ink painting I handcarry back from Bali pretty well. For the coffeetable I was deciding between a modern classic replica from Picket n Rail and the Iman coffeetable from the Lifeshop. Decided to go for Iman coz I like the design and I like the philosophy of this local brand. But too bad I didnt know that Lifeshop has closed down their retail outlets in Singapore and only does online sales now. I went to their showroom/office at Balestier hoping to see the coffeetable but it wasnt on display. Bought a coffeetable and a Tulip side table from Picket and Rail in the end, and sold away the coffeetable two months later.

    Still thinking about Iman :)

yeah Tom Dixon is really famous... i guess the most important thing is you like them... does not really matter what others say.... design is very subjective. :D
