  1. Here's a picture of the rain shower. Take note of the rain shower height. I told my contractor one of us using it is more than 1.8m tall, so she should install it high enough in order for us to use it comfortably. Otherwise the rain shower is too close to the head.

I was disappointed when I saw that it was installed too low (only about 10cm above the tallest person using it). She explained that the mixer height is standard (1m), and that's the highest the shower head can go because the length of the rail is fixed. I thought they could have shifted the mixer higher (e.g. to 1.2m). The standard height is not a fixed rule.

Was thinking to hack the wall again to shift the mixer higher, or change to a different model of rain shower. Finally was lucky to find an extension tube for the rain shower from Amazon. Got to wait for plumber to be back from CNY break to fix it.

    Thank you :)

Will take note during the installation of bathroom accessories.

  2. Btw realised i missed this out in the above post.

For all the carpentry work, it comes with white internal PVC (unless otherwise stated), ABS trimming and soft closing hinges (non-branded).

So if looking for BLUM hinges, cost may differ quite a bit. Don't think they are registered company for BLUM system as well.

    HTH!

  3. Hello!

We have the same floor plan! Just that mine is turn right instead of left.. Are we in the same estate? :)

Anyway, sorry to hear about your experience, may you find a reliable ID soon..

Looking forward to more sharing of ideas. Cheers :)

  4. Though my keys are not here yet, there's helpful neighbours in our estate FB page who already uploaded pics. So took from theirs to share first ;)

I took HDB's tiles and doors (hope they don't make me regret). So my house should be 95% identical to what my neighbour uploaded.

Reason I say hope HDB don't make me regret getting the tiles and doors from them? My ID shared when checking the flooring for another neighbour who engaged him, a large number of tiles in the middle of the living room was jutting out pretty badly. In the end my neighbour had no choice but chose to overlay with new tiles, adding on another 5k on top of what was paid to HDB for the tiles. But again, he did mention that he seen another unit without such a problem. So we're crossing our fingers really tight that our unit is done swee swee!

  5. Hi, your quotation looks really reasonable especially including the sys 4 aircon and electrical works... don't mind sending me your detailed quotation with breakdown to shaowei14@gmail.com?

Would really appreciate it as my 5 room is also coming and I need to find a good package for my house. Thank you and have a smooth reno!

    Hi Shaowei,

    Just emailed you :)

  6. When is your expected key collection? so you actually chose and signed with an ID before collecting your keys.

    Hi cocobliss,

We are expecting to collect keys no later than March 14. Actually for our estate, blks A to D have already collected their keys. My blk is E. So it shouldn't be too far off.

Yup we chose and signed with an ID before collection of keys, but our ID did share that measurements may change and he will deduct or add according to the per ft cost he quoted us :)

  7. finally managed to take a photo of my floor plan. as below!

what i like about it is that it is blockish enough with no odd angles. easier to plan for furnitures and no wasted space as well. but then again, i know most new BTOs are also 99% the same floor plan la.

    floorplan-2.jpg

it's a 5 room apartment at 112m sq. Internal area is 110m sq.

Sharing our quotation which I hope is reasonable enough (after all the homework done, i am at least 90% sure). Will not be providing the breakdown though, so if keen, i think it's better to share via PM instead.

  8. Will be uploading my floor plan this evening. Can't seem to find it in my phone album but have sometime on the train so decided to blog. Too excited!

On choice of colours, as our theme is more modern minimalist, I've decided more towards white & silver for the carpentry work for the entire house. but not sure what r the matching paint colours for it though.. need to browse more websites / home design magazines etc for inspiration.

Can anyone share whether having the same design theme throughout the house (except my future baby room) be boring? Our idea was to have a uniform design so it's not changing from one room to the next. Thought it might be messy..

  9. Thank you for dropping by and reading my renovation blog from page 1

Just wanted to share that I've collated all the posts about my renovation journey to my personal blog. If you wish to cut through the clutter of people asking for PMs for my ID, do go direct to www.guojiawen.com and choose the tags "Dream Home / Renovation / Home Deco".

    Cheers!

    ____________

Have been reading renovation blogs for quite sometime and found the info all really useful. Hence decided to start my own reno blog to document our reno journey :)

Our dream home is a 5 room BTO at Woodlands Meadows. Currently awaiting for keys which should be ready by March (hopefully), since our block is the last one hanging. HDB, please release our keys soon!

As my hubby & I are will be shuttling back & forth from overseas, we were pretty eager to settle our choice of ID. Have done our research since Oct 2013, shortlisted about 15 firms, asked for quotations, met with 6 IDs and further shortlisted our choice.

Finally signed with our ID two days back. Overall we have good vibes and chemistry with Jason (our ID), who is working together with his brother (owner of the company). Price quoted was reasonable, Jason was really flexible in terms of our requests and after viewing a work in progress home, the workmanship was good as well. Everything is great so far. We are also really happy with the reno package!

The next step is to choose the colour & overall feel of what we like and update Jason before he helps come up with our 3D designs.

    Am really looking forward!

    Good Luck.

    Cheers.
