  1. Welcome bRo!

Great hood you got... Maintenance free... too bad i did not have top cabinet hence have to buy chimney type. your kitchen sink tap look nice and cute!! haha~

Dun worry about the fan, when it is moving, u wun even know how it look like..... (take pic with the fan running =x) the remote seem cool~

Care to share how do we define a "maintenance free" hood? This hood doesn't need to replace any filters etc? Juz need to wipe clean? I'm also gonna get a chimney hood (becoz looks good), but hates the idea of cleaning and having the need to replace consumables

  2. Hi PTopaz!

We have no idea about that but the pipes in the white mesh thingy takes up quite a space. We were okay with the trunking because we placed LED strip light in the box for extra lighting. Maybe you can check out those people who took apart the mesh thingy and the box and did false ceiling instead for their bathroom. We chanced upon one or two of them but cannot recall who exactly they were. Hope this helps! :)

LEd strips in the box? interesting idea... do share photos of it when its done ok... cheers!

Juz worry...is it possible to hide the air con trunking inside the white mesh thing above it?

  4. hey PTopaz, how's your house coming along?

So far the blinds have been ok, I don't see alot of dust having accumulated, but that's also probably because we don't open all the windows in the house so less dust gets in. Cleaning wise, my wife swears by the Magiclean dusters as those attract and trap dust very well. However, the refills are pretty expensive at a couple dollars per piece (I think), but It should make your life cleaning the blinds alot easier though. If you clean it with a traditional feather duster, the dust may come off the blinds, but it will be transferred to your floor or walls instead as it dust does not stick to it.

At the end of the day, even if you opt for traditional curtains, my view is that fabric curtains trap alot of dust as well, but they may not be as visible or obvious. Of course, you always have the option of throwing your curtains in the washing machine, but you may not do the same for blinds.

One thing to note apart from the dirt/dust, is the ease of opening and closing of the blinds. IMO, blinds are more difficult to open because you have to pull up, pull down and louver the blinds to either close or open position. Traditional curtains are alot easier in the sense that you can just slide it open or close.

Conclusion - if you're willing to spend on Magiclean dusters and don't mind a bit of operational inconvenience, go for the blinds. Otherwise you can stick to roller blinds or traditional cloth curtains.

    Cheers :good:

    Hey thanks...

I'm shameful to say, i have not collected keys yet -_-'''

Now doing lots of research and shortlisting contractors...

    Thanks for the info bro...

  6. Craft Brick Wall

Been wondering for quite some time if wanna do brick wall.

Wanted to add a little something for the living hall, else look too bland.

Wall paper seems a good option but the future staining and peeling is a consideration.

So the brick wall idea surfaced and kept circling in my mind.

Some say brick wall collects dust, hard to maintain and not child safe.

Thinking the years I've been living in HDB, the number of times I clean the walls can be counted with one hand

I guess that dont bother me that much and a child is only safe when he/she is sleeping. :bleah:

Cost is a major factor, crafts bricks selling in Singapore aint cheap, SGD80 per box to begin with.

Covering approx. 1m2 per box and given average height of 2.8m, you will need 3boxes for 1m length.

Additional catered for wastage and crack bricks. So if you are doing 4m, means 12 boxes x $80 = $960.

So the alternative is to search overseas for supply and found one in Msia.

Price per box is 50% cheaper than local and makes me wonder the taxes, transport, GST, profit etc cost how much?

Buying is easy, make a call and arrange the deal but delivery cost is hefty, think is approx. $100 or $200 per trip from Msia

So I arrange a trip in and brought in all 22 packs of craft bricks and mind you, they are HEAVY!!!

Please, if anyone buying craft bricks without delivery, PLEASE prepare a trolley.

hey bro... i dont tink you need to wory abt the dust thing... i dont remember seeing any Fox or Hush Puppies staff feather dusting their brick walls....furthermore, the added advantage abt brick wall is that u dont need to paint it.... bagus rite~~

  7. harocarlos, may i know if ur contractor applied any sealant or any coat of something over the cement screed wall?

I've been asking around, and most people does.

I personally dont feel like applying anything cos i like the light grey unfinished look (just like the picture u posted with the "Welcome Home")

If yours is applied with any sealant at all, can let me know what type of sealant helps u retain that effect?

    thank you so much
