  1. Refrigerator

Finally decided on the Hitachi R-Z480AMS as it is large enough yet energy saving.

We bought the same one. Does Everjoint have stock of the fridge?

This is a very popular fridge, we been waiting for the shipment since early march. We ask at GAB, Hong Liang, Aik Leong and Tai Sing, both were sold out. Initially shipment was suppose to come mid march, then delay to end march, then delay mid april.

When we heard shipment came in, my FH rush down to Tai Sing and try to order. But Tai Ship told him allocation all ordered already!:dribble: He made noise at the shop told them how long they made us wait for the fridge etc etc etc then left the shop asking the guy to call him when next shipment come. Was walking away resign to waiting again, when the shop owner called him back. Shop owner started calling distributor and try to squeeze one out for us. Finally after long discussiong found us one :help: Think the guy felt bad about it

We got ours at $699 at TaiSing. The price was $689 actually when we first asked in early march :help:

  2. Need some help with my Cuizino Hob

Just got my final gas connection done last weekend, so went to test my Cuizino PV5.3 Hob that comes with a auto ignition and a safety valve for auto cut off of gass I guess

I read the manual, it says turn on the flame for 10 seconds on HIGH and it will err charge up the thermocouple to activate the safety valve. So thats what i did. Press down the knob, turn it to HIGH, flame lights up, nice abd big. Then i count to 20 second and release the knob. Flame goes out :D Tried it a few times, held the knob down the knob a bout a min and it still goes out once i release the knob. Flame basically goes out once i release the knob

Anyone know is this the norm? Is this how it suppose to work? Do I have to place a wok or pot on the burner to keep the flame going?

Not sure how this safety valve thing work.

Anyone using a Cuizino Oven? Where do the put the serial number? I am trying to send in the warranty card but the oven mounted into my cabinet, so I cannot see the back of it. Is the serial number inside the oven somewhere?

    Thanks

    -Celest

  3. wah! why? i'm using my irobot like 2 times a week..

hehe. now weekends we only wipe the tables/countertops and wash the clothes.. no more vacuuming!! yippee

:dunno: guess they are not used to having to charge the machine every now & then. plus too much things lying around, the robot will probably get stuck most of the time :P

for those who wants to buy the iRobot, might want to consider calling the distributor and ask for group discount. my parents got it at around 400 if i didn't recall wrongly

  4. Think I'll just buy any one I like since HDB doesnt enforce the rules. Looking at the bigger KDK one...

When we called KDK distributor, they mentioned there are ppl installing the non HDB approved models, as there are no enforcement on this regulations. However, they probably need to remove it when they want to sell house as HDB ppl will come down for inspection. So this could be one point you need to note if you intend to sell the house in future.

Another thing to note is height of the ceiling. Our place ceiling is rather low, so it could be quite dangerous to have the ceiling fan with long "stem". Which is why we decided to follow HDB regulation eventually

  5. Do they have other KDK models? I tot there're many approved models? What about those crestar etc??

U fixed this in the living area? Powerful enough?

They have other KDK model but this is the only one approved. This was told to us by Capital Group (KDK distributor) when we called them cause we actually wanted the Yuragi model. So we checked the HDB website it says for ceiling fan

    * Weight of fan should not exceed 6kg.

    * Clear height from finished floor level to fan blades should be at least 2.4m.

    * Harden steel expanding bolt should not exceed 8 mm in diameter and penetration depth of steel plug should not exceed 40 mm.

When we were fan hunting the shop showed us the PSB Tested sticker and say its HDB approved. But my FH found that PSB Tested Sticker means approved to us in Singapore but for HDB you need to follow the above 3 guideline. This KDK fan was the only one that met them

The Crestar one was also recommened to us by Chelsea lighting but the fan weights 8kg. So we decided to just stick to this. The fan so far quite good. When we turn it on to 3 we can feel it on our feet furtherest corner of the living/dining room.

  6. Kajua,

I saw that u bought a KDK fan from Chelsea lightings. Is that a ceiling fan? Which model and how much? Cos when I was there I didnt see KDK ones, only crestar and some other brands.

yup yup ours is a KDK ceiling fan

    A11YS_p_200.jpg

The model is A11YS, only one we could find that was approved for HDB use. Price was $185.

  7. eh... that i am not sure.

Hey, when can we see your furnished home?

hehehe.... we stopped taking pics of the house for the time being... waiting for the furniture to be in place then won't look so bare :yamseng:

tomorrow starting our search for sofa, dining table, tv console and shoe cabinet!:horse::notti:

  8. Has anyone bought furniture back from BKK?

My friends say they have very nice ones there. Cheap!! Very tempted to go and buy but dont know how to ship back and the price if still cheap after shipping cost

  9. No haven't seen the guy u mention leh. Eh, from my understanding Steven does not drive. Keke....

    Eh... Eh...

    Yah.

    Haha!!

    :jawdrop: really ah?

cause last time when he brought us to Jurong West to see his project and then went to our house, we saw him driving his white hatchback leh....unless we see wrong and it was Max driving

dotn tell me Max got 2 car?!?!?! :bangwall::bangwall:

  10. yeah yeah they very surprise we share quotes and even tiny details like freebies :bath:8|

also our reno progress we tell each other they also know they cannot luan luan lai zz

We always ask them about others reno when i meet them, started already? etc etc

but Steven/Max should be quite happy , since we started this thread I think they got quite a far bit of new business from the publicity. Otherwise they were never mentioned in any where, like when we first started looking for ID, there was zero reviews or mention of them in anywhere, whether this forum or any other forum

Got so much business, now got a new guy follow them 2 around :D Anyone know what the new guy is called, bigger size then steven, smaller size then Max hair golden one?

Steven drives a white hatch back I think, dont know is it a Colt or a Fit . Max is a silver gray Honda

  11. eh... today when i told them i want to go down to select tiles again tmr and will let him know the code so that he can go and take a look on Sat when he is there. Steven is like, "How do you know I will be at Hafary on Sat?"

    Wahaha!:bath:

hahaha... maybe i shall sms steven and disturb him also... our final pub connection will be on sat 4 to 6pm.... so maybe he will go over after skywolf's tile selection :D

Think they really scared that we tell each other ours quotes too zz

good mah, then they cannot anyhow quote cos they know we sharing the information 8|

  12. Handover next week!:D Suppose to be this Sunday but we have a wedding so cannot :P

Final gas connection this Saturday....touching up of defect this week and 1 more cleaning...our 3rd ...

Steven machiam like do 1 touch up clean once. They did 2nd cleaning on Sunday, when I brought my parents up to the house to take a look. They really clean the grills and Windows well. I am amazed.

Yesterday when we went up, we saw small pieces masking tape all over the walls. Evidently Steven checked and use the tape to tag where his painter should touch up today. Even tiny little speck of dirts or a bit uneven surface Steven also tag. My FH say he more niao then me tongue.gif cause usually I am very particular about all these.

Also our kitchen cabinet, the laminates got 1 piece a bit yellowish, I told my FH, he said never mind lah minor nia we choose white eventually also like that. So we never highlight to Steven, next day he called us, he say he checked the kitchen cabinet, then saw a yellowing piece, so he is going to get his supplier tochange it. True enough yesterday we go down to our flat, they already took back the peice of the cabinet to go change. Even other places, at the cabinet we never notice (those on the higher levels) they also check and take back to change bowdown.gif

Our solid top, yesterday was just installed. Very nice and white. Then i notice 1 tiny hole on it, I think about the size of a pencil lead, just 1 one only and told my FH. He laughed say waliao so small hole tell people for what, can barely see..only i so niao can notice!! So okay lor, we never highlight to Steven again. Today Steven called say he check the solid top. He saw a tiny hole, so going to get it fixed bowdown.gif bowdown.gif

Once everything done, can take picture and post :good:

  13. Next week hand over liao!:( !!

Then can write a review on Steven/Max team of Ideal House

But hor my FH impression of Steven just went up a few notches these few days when checking for defects

Yesterday when we went up, we saw small pieces masking tape all over the walls. Evidently Steven checked and use the tape to tag where his painter should touch up today. Even tiny little speck of dirts or a bit uneven surface Steven also tag. My FH say he more niao then me :curse: cause usually I am very particular about all these.

My FH really impress how detailed he checked for defects.

  14. I had high expectation of Ideal House after seeing all the good reviews here in this forum, but after more than 3 weeks of waiting for the quotation, I had already given the ID amiss. On the positive side, the ID who I met appear sincere but guess they must be very busy with many projects on hand or maybe my $40K budget for a 5 rm flat is too little for them. Anyway, those ID who promised to give me a quotation within 2-3 days but couldn't deliver will also likely give me problems if I really do engage them. So i crossed out those who can't even keep simple promises.

I am pretty sure 40k for 5rm flat is not too little for them given that ours was 30+ (less then 35k) for a 5rm resale. My friend who requested quote from my ID in Ideal got his quotation too, his was 15-20k for a condo

As for writing off ID who dont deliver the quotation on time, this might not be a good idea as most of the recommended IDs on the forum like Ho Bee, Ideal sometimes will have this problem. I had to chase Ho Bee for 2-3 weeks for the quote cause it was peak period for them. But we persisted because they are reputed to be good, eventhough in the end we went with another ID. Those that reply promptly sometimes are not necessary good, as in our early days of seeking out a ID someone in the forum wrote that if the ID is so free sitting in front of his desk reply to queries, business must be really bad.

But I think in your case 3 weeks of waiting is very extreme. Did you try calling the ID? If you called and he still does not respond, then you should drop him. If you still want to go with Ideal House, you might want to call Mr K, in his thread one of his client says he provided a quote in less then a day when he was told it was urgent. You can also try our ID Steven/Max . Our experience with them have been that they are very prompt and responsive to our requests. Even if they are late they will inform in advance.

If not, you might want to try Intradesign and Baroque. When we requested for quotes from a whole list of ID at one go via email, they are the 2 that reply to us fastest, though we also did not shortlist them eventually. These 2 are also reputed to be good from the forum . You can read up on them.

  15. Yippess...just went to our place to check it, waah....think we can do final touchup and check for defect next week

    Left solid top to install.

Yesterday went down to pay for aircon, then just nice mark the places to put the toilet accessories and was expecting them to do it next week. Today go down..every thing done!:P Today we even brought additional stuff to mount, so had to ask Steven if can mount, he say no problem . Sometime he too efficient also not that good, my FH still thinking if want to put more additional stuff, if he hand over on schedule we dont have much time!:)

Even my FH rain shower is up!8|

  16. Today we were out doing our photoshoot....so tiring!:good:! I had lots of fun but my poor FH was limping in pain with a twisted ankle

Anyway, Steven did his MMS update again. Today started carpentry work...he MMS us the picture of the carpentry

    Image015.jpg

Doesn't that worker look like an angel with our light above his head :notti:

Hope he doesnt bang his head on the light

Speaking of white transparent ones... my mum accidentally added dunno what solution to the white curtains (dirty so washed it), ended up became baby blue. :( Now matched the walls and relatives asked us where we bought it from. Dunno want to try or not. Haha!

Waahh.... self dye!:dunno: Will the color run if you wash it again?

  17. Thanks for all the advices and the contact, I went to the website to see immediately liao... but you never tell me how much you paid for the WC leh? I saw the simple American Standard WC at Hoe Kee, not bad and it is about $245. This Genova one looks even more simple and sleek so if around the same price or cheaper, then I will get this instead.

Ya KDK fans are the best, I'm using the standing one currently. But in terms of visual design it's not so nice leh. Nevermind I let HB decide, afterall he will be the one cleaning it and anything wrong also he's in charge! :dancingqueen:

opps sorry, forgot to indicate the price :bleah:

to ch0c0l4te as well, the WC we bought it at a discounted price of $138, usual price was about $236. you might want to call and ask if the promotion is still on. the model is WC-4007-WT.

  18. Yah. Want cheap cheap ones which looks decent. :yamseng: I'm not really a fan of them coz i see my mum wash the full length ones n i went :sport-smiley-018::sport-smiley-018:

You cut yr own curtains ah? No need to do the hem so that it wun fray mah? :dancingqueen:

we haven't got the curtains yet actually, only got the rod installed. but so far those we saw at ikea are those full length curtains. probably we will only use the full length one for living room. even then, we are thinking of getting those white, transparent type. those are lighter for washing. and romantic :dancingqueen:

as for the room, either get the full length type from ikea, go home cut and do the hem using my mother-in-law's sewing machine  or look around places like john little, robinson see if they have shorter length curtains. that one must wait for their sale. can go really cheap. :dancingqueen:
