  1. I see. Then the price is comparable to Ikea's allready. Hmm... seems we got to dig dig dig le. :(

Anyway, my capentry also delayed mahz. Coz carpenter no time for us for now. :bleah::bleah::bleah:

I got the Ikea Billy brochure with me now

Billy 80x28x237cm with full glass door cost $369

80cm width is about 2.5 feet. So ours it would be $738 for a 5ft

But their height is 237cm. Older HDB flat the ceiling height is 250cm, newer ones are about 260cm. So will have a gap between case height and ceiling, so must wipe :(:(

Also their depth is about half what we getting but Ikea comes with all glass doors so that is better i guess.

But pay extra so I dont have to wipe the top is worth it :notti::notti:

    Cheers

  2. Stainless steel pipes are much nicer then the copper ones!! Looks so much nicer!!

One thing you might want to watch out for is after the acid wash check the pipes. Ours after the acid wash, there was some brown like rust spots on the pipes , the gas pipes not the water pipes (not sure if they are stainless steel also but they look the same leh) :dunno:

Dont know why stainless steel can have rust. My FH say maybe its the fumes from the acid wash that caused it. We got the painter to help us painter over the paints so now we dont see any rust spots :notti:

Did you manage to find that stainless steel drain cover? I went to a hardware shop but couldnt find. Hubby not around..sigh must do my own hunting cannot ask him to do

    Cheers

    -Celest

  3. Did you get glass covers so tt you need not clean that often? I was intending to do top part w stuff toys with glass, then bottom normal doors for hubby's comics (he's a comic fan also)...

50cm just nice for 3 row deep? Per shelf? Or 3 row and then can stack 1 more 3-rows on the top? 'Unlimited' shelves in quote? :notti::notti:

Yeah our bookcase is with doors. Half glass. Bottom half is wooden doors while upper half is glass doors with wooden frame I think. Cannot really remember the exact design as Steven was the one sketching it out to my FH. Anyway half glass is same price as no glass. Full glass doors will cost much more

Steven said he will make the shelves adjustable, so I guess it depends on how high we do the shelves. I think the normal height will allow 2 rows

Heard from Steven, our bookcase has actually been fabricated and ready to install. But the carpenter is so busy he has no one to send over to install the bookcase in our house :jawdrop::jawdrop:

    Cheers

  4. Enough space bo? :notti::notti:

Aiyo, dun remind me of that 2 series. I have 1 set. But my hubby also got 1 set. :bangwall::bangwall: That time we were not together yet, so now we have 2 sets. :jawdrop:

I think not enough for me to have 1 row niah. I have a full ht cabinet thats full of the stuff toys. And they are not properly lined in 1 row. It's all squeeze and squeeze till 3-4 rows per row. :jawdrop::jawdrop:

I think Steven will 8| us too if we got him to do. :bleah::bleah: Haha!

    :jawdrop::jawdrop: you got so many!!!!!!

Actually when you ask Steven to make you can ask him to make till the depth is about 1 feet. Normal already made bookcase outside are about 40cm in depth. Initially Steven ask us if we wanted to make 60 cm(1ft) depth. We were emmm ahhh..cant decide then finally decide go middle...50 cm :notti:

So my hubby can put his comics 3 row deep!!!

Think if you ask Steven make, ask him make a super deep one..then you can squeeze all into 1 row

  5. Har? You got locked out? :o:o

Their number locks are very seasoned so sometimes you really must align nicely then can open

Anyway for me, I blur so I never open always get my FH to open . Sometime can see him struggle with the lock also :notti:

  6. ya, we also waited till after reno then decide on custom-making the bookshelf. dig here and there for the additional 1k. maybe after that go dig money make shoe cabinet :notti: steven gonna 8| us liao

talk about stuff toy, my FH say will allocate the highest level of the bookshelf for me to place all the hello kitty and winnie the pooh stuff toy i collected from macdonald :dancingqueen:

  7. steven quote us $200 per ft run, we make a 5ft bookshelf which cost $1k.

at first we were looking at ikea billly bookshelf too but my FH says billy wood not good, will sag in the center. his colleague use it, now she regret

then we also look at some other furniture shops. my FH has a lot of books and he wanted a deeper depth bookshelf which we can't seem to find outside. furthermore, most better quality bookshelf cost about $800 for 5ft and yet it does not cover up to ceiling height. so we thought might as well custom-made one.

  8. My hubby while washing the IKea knife accidentally dropped one tip first onto the solid top!!!! :( Now there is a hole on it :curse:

That day Steven called to say our bookcase was almost ready so I ke ke asked him if he can help us patch the hole. He said YES!! :dribble: he will get his guys to do it when they bring in the bookcase :notti::notti:

My hubby quite paiseh cause he say this not in the warranty leh so he dare not ask..but I asked anyway :notti:

  9. :P i think we were lucky, also maybe the fact we the 1st one to start our reno after the long CNY holiday lor. Actually our deliveries , sink and stuff, also came during the tiling, they put it in the middle of the room and also put the things on top, but I think cause the boxes were sealed so not that bad. Anyway after the reno they will wash it. I think Steven got his guys to wash acid + normal wash about 3 or 4 times for us, so eventhough after they install the stuff it was dusty but they really washed it clean for us. So no complains on that

Maybe they will wash your shower panel after reno for you.

Yeah the knocking of the tiles you gotta do. Eventhough we trust the tilers but safe then sorry. It is quite tiring to do all that

Actually I guess defects are common more important is whether your ID willing to rectify it. Worse those that give you excuse then dont do. Ours the glass shower screen no cut hole for pipe we also never notice :P till Steven told us he sending it back for a cutting . Ours the defect were so minor sometime we dont bother though in the end Steven during his own inspection fixed :notti: I quite blur then my hubby super bochup

But seems like your reno also quite smooth also not as much problems as some of the horror stories we read in the forum. Least you got the full reno experience!! :P

  10. Today is shopping day!!! Kitchen looks so empty so decided to fill it up :dancingqueen:

Since we wont be cooking as much, so decided not to buy too expensive stuff like WMF :P when Ikea and hopefully can find all we want there. Saw some on their website already, seems like good enough for us. Search on comments on IKea stuff, seems like comments are still okay, though I see more ang mo use it then locals. Oh well, give it a try

After 2 hours a Ikea heres what we ended up with

Bought this set of pots $16+ nia. Not too bad . Just a bit worried about the handles. But if metal handle it will be hot also...so now get rubber one scare it will melt.

    PE069910_ANNONS%20cookware%20set%20of%20

Says in the website include frying pan but dont have it in the set when we bought it :dunno: We asked the staff, they also said the set dont include the pan

So end up we had to buy one. Was deciding between wok or frying pan. Ended up getting this work

    pyra%20wok.jpg

Cause the pan was too small and this wok had a flat bottom instead of a normal rounded one. So can use as a pan also. Best part it has 2 handles!!! So easy to carry

Not forgetting pot stand as got pot how can have no pot stand :P

    PE114220_HEAT%20POT%20stand%20round%203-

Bought some knives but no chopper :( . Ikea dont sell choppers....

    PE101850_HAKE%20knife%20block%20w%204%20

Saw this utensil set....had everything ...so buy

    grunka.jpg

    Saw this cutlery set....buy

    PE105764_FORNUFT%20cutlery.jpg

    Love these colorful place mats....buy

    panna(2).jpg

    Bought some bathroom floor mats

    nackten_bathmat.jpg

Bought a water pitcher too cause like that it had this column of water inside the pitcher. So if you freeze that water, your ice water can stay colder longer...

    impuls%20jug.jpg

Bought hangers since wardrobe now empty empty...so buy to make it look less empty

    bumerang_clotheshang.jpg

There was a pasar malam at Toa Payoh Central so stop by there before heading to our house. In between munching on Taiwan Chicken Chop and other snacks found a really nice Japanese chopper!!! A bit small but heavy enough and loosk really nice!! . Also got a chopping board.

  11. I got a very basic KDK in my place so far no one has said its obiang. All said this is smart move in this weather...you be amaze how usefull it is at noon when your house gets hit by noon sun or when its one of those day its hot and humid

Get that fan that is close up but when you turn on it opens up like flower blooming..thats nice...and like skywolf says black fans are the in thing now..really nice

  12. isit ah keong work to patrick? and patrick is ho bee' s boss?

    please advise thanks

Currently Ah Keong is Patrick's carpenter. Or subcon I think. So Patrick is the main-con and subcons all the woodwork to Keong .

But some forumers are saying Ah Keong mention to them he will be setting up his own reno company soon. So thats why next time if you get Ho Bee, Ah Keong might not be the one doing the carpentry for your project. If you want Ah Keong you might have to call him directly

  13. WMF.

*runs off to avoid 8| *

    8| 8| 8| 8| 8|

Actually was looking at WMF at Robinsons since we have some vouchers. They having a 150 anniversary sale. Nice :dribble::dribble:

Then I saw Ikea Kitchen stuff flyers....at less then 10% of the WMF price....FH eyes lit up

  14. Sometimes I think different ppl follow different FS masters... coz some info that forummers post in blogs are differrent from what my FSM said. :P

I remembered I had asked my FSM abt the curve too, because i have one that is between living and MBR. He said no issues. He also said no issue abt color selection too. So sometimes, I'll just stick to what my FSM said... If I do not trust his judgement, why do I engage him then? :P

But do you guys believe in FS? If not, then need not follow just because someone said have to lor. :dunno:

We are more towards the rather to follow FS then to ignore it where possible type. :P as long as possible

Like one FS suggestion was that our sofa had to be against the wall. So if we followed that, our TV will be one end of the room, the sofa have to be the other. So we decided just not to do as its not practical

For the rounded dooryway, I guess we will just keep it as it is. Too many conflicting views. :dunno: So just leave it. What will be will be

Now we are hunting for utensils. Anyone has experience with Ikea pots and pans and knifes ...their kitchen range. Is it good?

  15. WAHHH you got pom pom in your house !!!! :dribble::dribble:

Will black sink scratch easy ? We wanted black solid top but everyone tells us black black easy see scratch...your black sink will it have same problem?

Your tiling very fast.... must be the same crew at ours, super on the ball and efficient. Also very good workmanship, we knock all the wall tiles and floor tiles. Not a single hollow one :bow:

End up feel a bit sad....check for defects then not much to complain about...like missing one portion of the renovation experience

  16. You can try going back to Chelsea Lighting for your fans, they carry some too...

hahaha we bought all our lights and our fan at Chelsea.

Really love how your house is turning out. We told Steven he should ask you to let him take pictures of your place so that he can use it to show his potential customer. Awesome looking
