  1. So did anyone use silestone at all?

Do you know what is the price range for those plain (not granite looking) ones? Does the local vendor have all that is on the usa website?

I am very tempted to splurge for it, a mid range Corian can be already $130 psf.

For Silestone Price range will be from $180 to $300 psf.

  2. my bto in sengkang

my quartz kitchen top of 10.5 feet straight line was installed in 2 pieces instead of 1 piece, and the splash back was also installed in 3 pieces for the 10.5 feet.

my question, is this normal, because im expecting a solid 1 piece installation.

    Hi rosks,

For quartz and granite will have jointline. Please note.

For solid surface will be one piece as its able to join seamless line with special glue.

    Hope it explained?

    :)

    Hi,

Solid surface can have a big range from $80 - $150 ( depending on Branding )

Granite usually around $100 - $150. Black Galaxy Granite would be recommended @ $120

Silesstone and Caesarstone are both high quality quartz top from Europe, price will be around $180 - $300

There is Iquartz.. Price Around $150 - $200

Samsung Staron is a Solid Surface, price in the same range as Solid surface ( $120 - $150 )

  4. So we decided to swop the dining room and the study/helper room. This enables us to have an open kitchen/dining and makes better use of space. We also incorporate a bench for wearing shoes. The new study/helper room is smaller though.

    Revised floor plan:

    Some new renderings:

The new idea with bench sitting is a good idea. Below it if possible can add a shoe cabinet drawer. When you pull it out. the bottom for you to place your shoes.

  5. I'm about to redo my flat's kitchen and would like to know how the kitchen countertop's area is calculated. Basically, my current countertop is a 13x2 (26 square tiles) long rectangular configuration. Each square tile as I measured, is exactly 1ft x 1ft, i.e. 1 sq ft.

The part that confuses me are the cut out areas where you put the sink and stove. Will these areas which will eventually be cut out, be still included within a contractor's material cost calculation?

They will recommended you by using their calculation method. So no need to worry about this unless you doing it diy.

  7. how to maintain solid top to avoid dull look.. my solid top is just 6 months and it become like that.. using wet cloth to wipe, the solid top look new and shiny but once its dry, it become dull (abit whitish look)..

    Hi,

To maintain the shine of the solid surface is using 3m stainless steel spray. but yours is after. Can try also. If can share the result here?

If use samsung staron acrylic countertops will be better as it will maintain the shine even after 10 years.

Silestone also can but this is the more expensive range.

  8. Hi friends,

I have 2 questions related to granite countertops:

    1. Can you recommend a few firms where I can get reasonable priced granite?

    2. What is the current market price?

    3. Is it easy to coordinate this with the carpenter who will be doing my cabinets?

    Thanks in advance friends. Cheers!

To recommend would be black galaxy granite. market going at 120 per foot run. china not recommended personally.

It's better to let the carpenter to coordinate. So they know what you want.

    This is my suggestion.

Hi, what's the bad things about iquartz?

What did you learn about iquartz?

  9. Hi all, it has been 6 weeks since the renovation started. Our flat is a 4 room resale flat, sadly COV is very high :( which left us only a little to do renovation.

Basically we hacked everything, do homogenous tiling, parquet for bedrooms, plumbing, painting, change doors, carpentry work include kitchen cabinet, shoe cabinet, wardrobe and feature wall, Didn't do window grills yet as we prefer unblocked window for now (no kids yet). So far the renovation is going very smoothly, my contractor is very reliable. His workmanship is good and he delivers what he has promised. The price is reasonable and his quotation is very clear stating all the work details, no hidden charge. We hope to move in very soon, settle everything include furniture and have a house warming near Christmas time. You can PM me if you want my contractor contact.

Does anyone know a reliable mover?

Care to post his workmanship here?

I don't know many suppliers, you can check this company Lian Hin for pricing. In regards to coordination, basically just get the carpenter to finish the cabinet, then the supplier will come in and measure the top. Give the granite supplier a call and ask them how you should arrange things and when to inform them, or you can try asking the carpenter to liaise with them directly if you are paranoid you might make a boo boo.
