  1. We are good with that and birds will be a non issue since the windows are inside of the void space in the service balcony in unit versus windows which are at the front :)

So risk of birds thru the windows will be much higher :)

Actually, not only birds... there might be lizards, cockroaches etc... You can consider placing those mosquito mesh to prevent those crawlies while having fresh air circulation.

  2. How small is small @Troublemaker? :o How many m2?

Btw. which area is your place at? I'm quite curious about the newer 3-room flats... When I was looking for my place, all the ones in the West I viewed were like 20 years old at least. So I wonder where all the newer 3-rooms are. Haha.

Its only 64sqm. It is in Taman Jurong area. I think i only have an extra common room and bathroom niah...

Oh well... i just don't have as much luck as you guys! 😢

  3. These are the final photos!

This is a picture of my MBR bathroom. The bathrooms are really small! I have since changed the bathroom doors because the quality really sucks... The previous doors are aluminium but they started to give way and are slanted until they touched the floor! Very unacceptable and the contractor was making excuses to change them for me. So, I decided to change to UPVC doors from SiongDoor. It has been 6 months and no slanting of the doors at all!

I managed to find a shelving unit besides my slim fridge!

Due to the limited space, this is the best that I can do! :P

  4. just finish reading your t-blog, very information but lack of Pictures! lol!

How r u staying in your new home for 1 yr now?

Those interested can read here: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/64578-bachelorette-on-budget/

I tried buying a shoe rack from fortytwo for my parents' home few months back and is satisfied with their service and quality so far.

Wah! You managed to find my blog!

I did some stuff around the house myself... it was pretty fun though... :P

  5. You guys are so lucky to get a 2rm bto! I have been trying for a year and gave up.

Anyways, just an idea. Even though i have a 3rm flat, my living room is really small. Hence, i did not buy a dining table and chairs. Instead, i bought a small table of 55cm height and place it in front of my sofa. Hence, i eat at my sofa. I free up the dining area space for other uses.

    Hope this info helps.

  6. Hi,

Love your nyatoh doors. Did you paint them white or they came in stain white?

I'm doing my kitchen door with nyatoh door, but they only come in wooden colors.

I think they come in wooden colors. However, i requested to Siong Doors to help me paint them into white color for a fee of abt ($20-30).

No regrets on the nyatoh doors. Its so good until that i can't hear the doorbell ringing when i am in the bedroom with door closed.

  7. For the 3-bulbs light, you should be able to adjust the direction of the bulbs to a particular direction, if you get what i mean. I tried different ways of fixing the direction of the 3-bulbs light. My common bedroom light is more "spread out" as compared to the master bedroom. However, if you are getting the 5-bulbs light, then you will not be able to change the direction.

Hmm... but with a kid, I guess its much safer to stick to the usual ceiling lights!

    Hope this helps! ;)

  8. Hi Angellim,

The 5-bulbs lighting is 40cm from the ceiling and the 3-bulbs lighting is 30cm from the ceiling.

You can get the Philips E27 bulbs in Singapore. I have changed the light bulbs to Philips E27 as it is only 14 watts per bulb whereas the bulbs I bought from the same shop as the lighting (taobao) is 40 watts per bulb!

    Hope this helps.

  9. Possible to share the drop height of the beautiful white light in the living room? From ceiling to the lowest point.

I hv order similar light, it's beautiful. I may hv problem as my boy bed platform is 75cm high, so worry that it may hit his head

    The 5 bulbs lighting?

  10. :o I see. Thanks for sharing. 65Daigou has just returned me the payment as the seller did not response. Think I will try getting it through Peeka.

I normally uses Peeka because my shipment contains lightings etc. Peeka will help its customers to check their items first to make sure the items are in good condition before repacking them to save on volume. So far, I am pretty pleased with Peeka's service! :)

  11. My fridge is black in color. I would say, so far so good.

When the fridge door (not the pull-out cabinet) is opened for too long, there will be a sound coming from the fridge.

If you need to freeze something in a short period of time (ice cream which has melted), you can lower the temp of the freezer and your ice cream will become hard again.

The fridge is slim which is a plus too.

Overall, i am pretty pleased with my purchase.

Maybe you can try Harvey Norman? I got it at $999. ;)

  12. Finally bought my first item from Taobao!!!

spent a whole 8 hours surfing taobao website to select my lights, chatting with the sellers, exploring how to buy and how to make payment... I am so glad that it is done and I really felt a sense of satisfaction after it has been done. :P

These are what I have bought

The above purchases are bought by myself, with Amcon as my forwarding agent.

I also bought a basin cabinet with a greece feel through 65daigou because the seller can only do 物流, ie. they only deliver item to a specific point. I am not sure if 65daigou is able to purchase for me but I just try my luck.

Why not use Peeka for the basin cabinet? Your basin cabinet will most likely be packed flat. Peeka charges by the volume whereas 65Daigou charges by weight... hence i think Peeka is a better choice than 65Daigou in this sense.
