  1. I will think the sofa colour is matching with the console..fabric after some time will stink and have stains coz our legs sweat and the fabric absorbs it unless u wear long pants everyday and on the aircon 24hrs. In addition, a light coloured sofa will make the living room brighter in the day unless U wanna turn on your ceiling lights throughout the day.

I support your wife's sofa choice, as watching TV with a comfy sofa is so shioK afterall a house is about comfort. Although gel well is impt but i will quote u, nice shoes are not comfy and comfy shoes are not nice. high heels vs sport shoes

On the kitchen area, cannot expect island to be clean and sleek all the time, otherwise the use of island only limit to food only. Island can be use to prepare food mah..For microwave oven, if u do not need to use it often then can forget it. I will suggest KIV on selling the sofa, who knows it might slowly grow on you.

Haha Stralph, my colleagues also say the same thing. Everyone tell me the sofa ok what.. But I cannot sleep because of it ...

  2. Brand new, just delivered to me on 06 Sep 2014. I haven't moved in yet. But found it incompatible with my house.

Bought this at $1800, micro-fiber engineered leather. Fire retardant, scratch resistant, no need to oil it regularly like normal leather, maintenance free and colour fast.

2.2m wide. Headrest is foldable and seat rest can be slide out to suit different thigh lengths. The construction is using top quality wood, as such the sofa is very heavy. Even when you slide out the seat rest to the max and sit right at the edge, the sofa doesn't tip forward unlike many others I tested.

Selling at $1400, collect at Jurong West. For those who are moving house, can get your movers to quote in this piece and move for you as well.

    Please contact Dylan 97990213.

  3. Updated pics. So far I think the only place I like best is the kitchen whereby I had 3D drawing from Ronald to make accurate decisions. For the living room, the TV console was outsourced separately and sofa chosen by myself. If I had used the 3D drawing as a guide, I wouldn't be trying to sell off the sofa now :(

  4. Hi OceanEleven, the 3D does make things seem tight. But in actual, there is enough space for two person to walk by between the cabinets and island.

I also have a double 13A point at the back wall corner (imagine if you are sitting on bar stool facing cabinets, it will be at 5 O'clock), there I intend to buy a Ikea kitchen stand/mini-island to place a rice cooker. I don't have any applications where I will use a microwave.

  5. The sofa is made of microfibre engineered leather, very durable as the salesman actually used a key to scratch and show us. The 2 seats can slide out, and all 3 headrests are foldable. The specs and comfort are very good, which my wife like. Problem is, the look doesn't gel with our small living room!

I wanted those fabric, squarish type with wooden legs from Ikea, but she insisted sofa must be comfortable, no need look good as we won't have much guests in the house. Its true, but if something doesn't gel, i cannot come home everyday and see it everyday.

  6. Sorry have not been updating this thread. Made some wrong colour choices on sofa and tv console... It's disheartening that after 2 months of doing so much, its the final details that killed the whole look. It's like doing a 10,000 pcs jigsaw puzzle for months, and finally discover you have 2 pieces missing. Will take more pics as I try to sell off the sofa or something.

Throughout the process, my wife let me choose almost everything till the sofa. She said at least one thing let her choose. This was our mistake. Both our taste are very different, so straightway the sofa stuck out like a sore thumb. If both parties have different taste, then the choices should be 100% of one person, should not have any mix at all. Not even one piece of coffee table or something, as one small piece can destroy one whole look.

  7. Thanks GMC! :) But I found the aunty i was looking for from my neighbour, cause she also did her curtains with the aunty. The company called E-curtains, but their website is super old and untouched, never even update the website...

Turns out they actually had a new factory down at Bishan. She came my house to measure the windows and gave suggestion on many matters, but I had to go down to her factory to select the fabrics! But worthwhile cause there's so much more at the factory and she give me quotes as I chose, the china ones are usually bad but cheap, however she introduced me to this china fabric which is of really high quality, but the point is I thought it was europe fabric when i compared the fabric! But she told me it was from china and cheaper compared to the europe one :X

She's like the cheapest and harsh curtain maker i know, cause she nag at me that the curtain i had is the expensive one and less than 2 years old still can alter and save fabric cost if i really like them ): But I gave them away ):

    But anyway! NEW CURTAINSSS!

Do head down to her factory if you're interested! Lip Hing Industrial Building, level 6, pink colour door one, very obvious. :good:

Hi may I know how many rooms did you do curtains and the cost?

  8. Midway in my renovation now. I have 3 contractors, one for general renovation, one for aircon and one for electrical.

Already 3 contractors is too much to handle, so I didn't further outsource for things like grilles, doors and ceiling fan as I don't have so much annual leave to go to the house and wait for these contractors separately.

My 4 ceiling fans, I had allowed the electrical contractor to install together with my lightings which I bought from Tampoi. My living room Alpha fan, Tampoi had asked me to buy a shorter rod which I did. Last week, at work, the electrical contractor sms me saying everything installed, but the ceiling fan, the short rod cannot be used, so they used the original one. I replied ok.

Then after work, I went to see. The ceiling fan was so low that if I raise my hands, they will get chopped off. Previously, I already have some issues with the way the trunkings are installed, so I know no point talking to him. So I arranged with my colleague to help me today to try and install the short rod ourselves, as I need an extra pair of hands to hold the fan.

We managed to install the rod in just 15 mins. I admit with the shorter rod, it is abit difficult to maneuver your tools to install due to the shorter gap between the top cap and ceiling, but it is possible. Yet, the bangla workers just take the easy way out and say cannot be done, and the boss also never check just relay the same message and defend his workers.

Then I went to check the empty box holding my warranty card and remote. They had thrown away all the boxes, except for one, and put all the remotes and warranty cards for all 4 fans inside. To my horror, i found extra screws and washers inside! After installation can have extra screw one meh?? And the worse....

The ceiling fans were wobbling after on, so I sms him asking him where is the balancing kit that came with the fans. The tampoi salesman had gone through each box with me before loading in my car, so I know that each fan came with one kit. He called me back and told me its normal for ceiling fans to wobble, and he say even if there is a kit, he can't balance it as they are not fan professionals.

I am shocked, if the banglas can't do it, you as boss can't do it, as least save the kit for me to do myself right??? The bloody banglas just throw away anything they don't recognise. Anything they have not seen before is rubbish? And after install still have extra screws!

I understand perfectly sometimes workers will screw up, but if the boss willing to correct the situation, I also believe no point "tear open face", but its this type of "its like that" attitude that boils me up!

I'm thinking of getting another person to come in and relook at the installation for me, but seems that most only willing to install if I bought the fans from them.

Does anyone have a contact for a installer which is willing to:

    1) check why out of 4 fans, 2 fans is slanted. The fans are dangling by a swivel, so it is suppose to hang straight by its own weight. I don't understand why 2 is slanted to one side, even when stationary.

    2) balance the fans for me

  9. For Aircon you will need to be present to discuss on the trunking how it should be run.

For electrical, its best to go through the point with the electrician.

    Hope this help.

I agree. Aircon trunking day, I actually applied half day leave already. But boss gave me black face so I cancelled my leave and just gave fan coil locations over the phone. I've already decided to spend extra money to box up the trunking instead of waiting forever for them to rectify it.

Electrical I actually already made 3 joint site visits with the electrician. It's not the error of placement, but the shoddy way it's installed that I am upset.
