ya, broke a big piece so that the cheaper tobshiba invert unit can go thru'... think mine will finish in early dec. i'm really taking my own sweet time. reno works will stop for this week coz my dad went hong kong for a tour. hahah living room tiles should complete next week. Kitchen cabinet/wardrobe probably end of nov. btw, i'm not from sers. i got the flat from balloting... no lah, i broke it on purpose so that i can fit the bigger toshiba invertor unit onto the aircon ledge. coz buying the smaller mitshibishi invertor unit will cost about $700 more. Replacing the broken window pane cost only about $220. -

think it's about $5psf or $5.50psf. but if you go with your contractor, it should be $3.50 psf. 800x800 is very nice, makes the living room more elegant... -

well, it boils down to the "by-right" & "by-left" argument. i'm not sure if this is not allowed. -

i did not manage to get the pic of the window pane tonight. but what i meant was that it's better to pay $200 to replace the window pane then to pay $700 more for the air-con. can be done, trust me... i manage to take pic of the original basin & toilet bowl but i do not know how to attach the pics. i'm willing to let go both items at $100. is this price special enough? -

hi all neighbours, i've changed my master bedroom toilet colour (due to feng shui). therefore i've laid other tiles over those supplied by hdb. i have now an extra toilet bowl & wahing basin. they're both un-used. they're grey in colour. can let go at cheap price... -

i bought the Toshiba unit. the price difference between Mit Electric & Toshiba is about $700. Ya, you're right, the compressor couldn't go thru the master bedroom window. guess what i did? i broke the window frame in the middle, and then change the window. it just cost me $200... -

ya, i have a schnauzer. he's used to pee & poo on grass patches but i've also paper-trained him since he's a pup. so i'll also put newspapers in the common bathroom, else will need to walk him every evening after work. there's a 2nd floor 4-room unit on 27b which has completed reno. i saw the flat with purple colour bedroom and green colour hall and white kitchen cabintets from downstairs. there're a lot of activites around that few blks...also saw gain city's vans downstairs the other day...someone must be installing their air-coin units liao... -

nemo, get your dog to pee on newspaper located in the bathroom or kitchen. you would not be using homo tiles on these areas right? -

hi all neighbours, i've gotten a toshiba 4-in-1 invertor from gain city (don't have the model number off-hand). just to share that other than the invertor/non-invertor affecting the prices, the btu (how powerful is the compressor) also plays a part. ie. if you get a cheaper unit with a lower btu, when you turn on the living room unit & master bedroom units at the sametime, you may not be able to experience cool/cold air in the bedroom. another factor is whether the quoted prices include extended warranty. normally the warranty period for parts is just 1 year (extendable to 5 years with a cost of about $400-$500) do take note. -

i'm going to install a bathtub in the master bedroom toilet. for a basic bathtub without jets (not jacuzzi), it'll cost about $350 (+/-), depending on the size (width & length). think the shortest length is 1200mm. if you're getting those with jets, it'll cost around $1k-$2k+. i may get a basic one from nam wah as they make bathtubs. -

you can install that in the common toilet. there's another point inside. go double check. one thing i hate is the bomb-shelter door situated in the living/dining area... -

guys, when i was going to my unit, i realised there're a number of showflats (both 4 & 5-room) at blk 27b. the unit numbers are all written on the walls of the lifts. you may want to drop by to see see look look... is it true? oh... let me go find out... -

for your signing of option to pruchase, hdb will only withdraw 10% of the flat's selling price. therefore your cpf monies will not be wiped out during that time. it'll only be wiped out on the day which you're collecting keys. you can buy private property anytime after you got the keys to your hdb flat...no guidelines on that... -

this is a safer way of investing your cpf monies. there're pros & cons. for my case, the bigger the investments, the bigger the returns !! however if the funds/shares are not doing well, then it'll also means higher losses our method are basically another form of 'gambling'...heheh -

you should get a 30 year loan first. if you clear the loan in 22years, the interest is pro-rated to 22 years instead of 30 years. for my case, i pay min. down-payment but at the same time make sure i do not need to top-up cash for my installment every month (even though can afford to put more down-payment). the 'excess' cpf will be invested as the return rates are much higher than the interest rates hdb charges you (2.6%). with that, the invested amount acts as an emergency fund for monthly repayments just in case you or your hubby lost your job (touchwood!!!). secondly, the higher returns means you'll be able to repay the hdb loan much faster and shorten the overall loan period...
