    I have to agree on the LUCKY part...still cant believe that I got a flat at Membina through Balloting. When I read the papers on the difficulty some couples have in getting a new flat and hear from my friends that their queue number is in the thousands range... :( , still cant believe my first time applying for a Ballot and my queue number was smaller than 100!

    I was shocked too when I saw my queue number... Then I realised that Jalan Membina is meant to be my new home liao..

    this was my 2nd time balloting

    This was my first time in balloting exercise so called.. previously took part in a few build to order ballot.. not sure counted or not.. but always get 1000+ queue number.. or rejected..

    Oh ya.. did one WIS before just before this.. got 500+ queue.. coz didnt stay overnight.. went in morning.. then did not have any units we liked.. so didnt get..

    Then tried Jalan Membina.. had no expectations.. coz so many ballots... then when saw the queue number was.. ;) .. Anyway we very happy to be able to get this place.. and so many of frenly pple like all of u there.. :(

    Nowaday, I will tabao the food from the downstair kopitiam and bring home to eat. In this way, we save $2.40 of drinks cost.

    Cooking at home will also help me to save some $$ and keep our meal healthy since I NEVER use MSG.

    Hehe.. yup.. healthy meal is the best 8|

    Ate a lot from the kopitiam liao.. so far so good 8|

    Shall we organise a cooking lesson??

    Anyway at night weekday shld be fine usually unless I go home late after work :(

    Weekends depends on whether I going out or not.. for eg. this weekend I will be out both Sat and Sun except Sat morn and Sun night bah keke

    haha my hubby and i must be the chin chai type...we choose our living room and kitchen tiles in 30 mins...

    we r buying our tiles direct from Hafary and hiring a tiler to do our tiling...

    My wife and I also anything one... chose the living room tiles at Hafary quite fast.. probably around 20 min or less.. :(

    Hi all,

    Need to check with you all, for the painting of whole hse, wat type of paint does ur ID/contractor use??? Heard some type of paint no good, pain liao once scratch will leave a mark there.

    My ID/contractor used ICI Dulux.. Wash and Wear.. actually we chose it.. the space colours have to add in cost so we didnt choose... Also can choose Nippon hmm..

    The paint so far quite ok.. think normal.. but only stayed there less than a month.. so cant tell how long it can last :bangwall:

    Hi SIM

    That is really the scary part especially all the payment bill coming in fast and promt!

    To cut down and save, suggest having coffee at the coffee shop or packet and sit at our downstair benches looking at children playing at the playground.

    That is what I will do when I shift over in another 3 to 4 months time.

    Just bring my kids downstair and buy coffee O and sit and enjoy the breeze and laugher from the kids.

    Going shopping and eating out will be keep to a minimal.

    HAPPY

    Yup.. coz now also go to NTUC and buy stuffs often too.. spend money there too :P

    Probably cant go out and play too much :bangwall:

    Only the fridge, PC , hifi and cordless phone are on 24/7 with one 40W light(energy saving) switched on till 3am ++ daily . hehe! Maybe, that is the reason.

    Although need time to load when on again

    That time TV forgot to turn off coz fell asleep.. now under repair :lol:

    Guys dunno how to iron the clothes but on last week he did help me to hang the clothes when I was out for class. I hope this will continue when I starts to work.

    My last electricity bill is $120. Sight ! What happen ? Is it because of my PC, cordless phone and frezzer.

    Hehe.. my wifey do the ironing of clothes.. I help to hang and wash the clothes :notti:

    And also sweep and mop floor... but we getting lazier too.. frequency less and less :sport-smiley-004:

    Havent receive actual bill after staying yet.. the one we received not much coz Jan havent moved in yet.. but yup.. have to take note of the electricity used etc.. so can save more :)

    hm... windy at our neighborhood is a good news. Save on electricity = save $$$ after reno n all other stuff, saving not much liao. so tis is a bonus to us :)

    Yup, we try to save as much electricity as possible.. even at night our house dark dark one.. only turn on one small light each time.. coz right now big money problem.. instalments.. and bills etc.. so have to save as much as we can :P

    At night also open windows for wind.. our room no fan too, only air con but dun turn on :)

    Hehe.. tot most guys will help out.. coz otherwise the other half will be so tired.. esp if she is working..

    I not gd at doing.. but have to do it too.. maintain the hse, want a clean hse :P

    Hi,

    Are you giving a set of your keys to the workers that is doing your defects? my view is to use a separate lock or get a lock from your id if yu had already confirmed yours. you would not want any of the workers to duplicata a set of your keys rite ?

    The lock you can change anytime but house key more troublesome to change mah.. this is just my view lar :yamseng:

    Yup, it's better to give them a separate key to a lock etc..

    Number lock is probably the easiest too.. I guess :P

    just to seek advice-

    i called HDB to check on my defects for 2 weeks, the lady said she cant give me a confirmed date as to when the defects can be rectified.

    She asked me to go ahead and do my flooring and they will rectify my defects after the flooring is done.

    She said they will go according to my defect list even if my reno starts in advanced...

    any advice?

    Hi,

    My defects also done during my reno.. coz they very slow.. cannot possibly wait for them to finish before doing my reno..

    So I just gave them the number for my reno lock.. they come in anytime.. the prob is some defects solved by the reno people already like the kitchen flooring etc..

    But ya.. they can still come and do the defects as long as dun affect each other etc :)

    Maybe u can talk to your hubby and tell him about wat u going thru and ur stress etc?

    Also house reno is a two person thing.. coz the house belongs to both of them.. so decisions are best made together :)

    This is how we decide etc..

    Dun be too stressed too.. just relax and tell urself everything will go well.. :)

    Help needed , I just go and check my sink , the sink button is it can take out(is not attach/stick on the sink easily taken out )

    Normally is attach to the sink one right . My one can take in and out leh . Is it spoilt as both toilet the same .

    hi neighbours,

    haven't logon for a long time. busy with work, CNY, ROM shopping, reno shopping etc. this thread is defintely moving fast. :P

    just came back from JM after meeting with my ID. i'll be starting my reno coming tuesday. the wall between my bedrooms will be the first to go. :D

    our neighbourhood is getting more n more happening. ate at the coffee shop just now. they were having lion and dragon dance. :sport-smiley-004: there will be another coffee shop at the other corner, opening mid march. there will be the famous ex blk 29 tze char stall. more choices for all of us. yummy.

    btw gong xi fa cai to all. :P

    Wow.. didnt see the lion and dragon dance just now... was at home.. didnt hear anything also hmm :P

    Anyway.. also ate dinner there just now.. ate the Western..

    Found it a bit salty.. and also theres some insect on the salad.. :)

    Waiting for the other coffee shop to open.. then can eat tze char keke :)

    - if u had eaten Bao Gong XO fish bee hoon before, this one @ our estate is rubbish!

    2. $2.70 Char Siew rice - 8/10

    - Good, no burnt meat

    3. $2.50 Carrot cake - m8/10

    - Lots of egg, hopefully it continues to be so "eggy"

    Tot i missed out zz

    Anyway there will be another coffee shop opening at the other corner.. now renovating right? :)

    Just now went to try too.. ate from the roast meat store and the teochew noodles store.. but not bad :)

    Nope, didnt have such problems before... but yup.. have to check periodically even if not started reno yet..

    by the way there's a very bad mosquito problem I encountered since living here.. everyday I come home to be savaged by mosquitoes!!Hope errant contractors get fined for putting rubbish everywhere..I wrote a feedback to town council, hope they'll do their regular fogging.. it's really very bad.

    I didnt have any mosquitoes at my home so far.. at least didnt see any.. but got those small flies.. dunno wat to call them but only a few 1 or 2 etc.. so not too bad :(

    Anyway, yup its gd to tell them to do the fogging regularly.. coz we want our estate mosquitoes free!:deal::)

    Btw ur curtain is nice :P
