  1. To hijack my thread a little.. My brother's new place (resale flat) is under-going renovation now.. with an ID we had previously shortlisted but is obviously off our list now.. It's been a looooong renovation with much frustration.. Our family is close so we kaypoh on one another's matters.. but as much as we would like to help, we have very little experience / ability to visualise / understand the technicalities associated with the issues.. so for most of it, they had no choice but to go along with the ID's recommendations and do more work and top up $$ along the way.. I'm posting the two issues they are currently facing and the ID's explanations.. we are honestly feeling quite skeptical about the explanations.. Having busted their budget for what the ID sold to them as "may be pricier than some others but very quality" renovation, I don't think that they should have to feel shortchanged on what seems to be quality issues to us.. but they have also quite run out of stamina and patience to try to clarify / rectify / argue it out with the ID and just wish for handover asap.. and to be fair, it might be that the explanations are valid.. if fellow forummers have any input / comments / solution which could help, it would be most most appreciated! thank you in advance! Issue no. 1: Floor trap / drainage When we dropped by last weekend, we noticed that there was nowhere for water to flow to if they decide to have a more intensive wash of the kitchen.. When my brother asked the ID about it, the ID said that usually don't have one.. Ok........ But a few days later, my brother went back to the place and he was shocked to see this floor trap added without their knowledge or confirmation.. quite in the middle of nowhere.. in front of the fridge base.. quite unsightly rite..? we were just admiring the flooring when we last visited.. when they asked the ID about it, they were told that the positioning cannot be changed cos it's the same for the whole block so it has to be in that position... 1) does anyone else have this floor trap in the middle of the kitchen? My parents' home and my hubby's parents' home have a drainage hole under one of the kitchen cabinets.. this is the first time we see this in a kitchen, it looks like it belongs in the bathroom lehhhh... 2) could the positioning have been changed if it was planned from the start? the ID we met today gave a shocked "aiyoh" when we showed him this and said generally they plan the positioning before they lay the tiles.. 3) is there actually a choice not to do this drainage / floor trap thingy? The ID only added it after my brother asked him about having a hole for drainage.. Issue no. 2: Wardrobe The sliding door of the wardrobe is warped / bent.. Not sure if it is the correct term but here's a picture.. (it's much more obvious in real life and it's not the only wardrobe with this problem but so sorry I don't have a good picture..) and the doors felt thin and flimsy to us.. so much about having quality as a selling point.. As a layman whose ignorance got laughed off by that ID before (for something else), I imagined that the warping was because the door was too thin / the measurement of the door was off.. aniwae, when we asked about the warping, the ID said something about gravity and that it's about the quality of the tracks - if it's a more expensive one whereby the doors are not touching the floor.. Then the warping probably won't occur but the expensive tracks will cost a few thousand dollars.. Again.. could people with some experience let us know if this is a genuine explanation? If anyone has a wardobe with sliding door, it would be great if you could take a quick look at confirm this (and for those who don't have such an issue, did you pay thousands for the tracks??) That's all for now! Thanks!

  3. Whee~! We finally get to start our own t-blog! Here is our floor plan.. We thought floor plans for BTOs were pretty standard.. Until we got around to planning the layout for ours.. Our main headache now.. We are planning to combine BR 2 with MBR to open up the space.. And we are kinda restricted by the beam between these two rooms to align our TV console there... our ID thks that we shld do up a feature wall to hide the wirings and the back of the TV.. which seems to defeat our objective of having a spacious MBR leh....... A smaller headache is the placement of the dining table.. Aniwae.. we are getting our keys next week.. so hopefully the headaches will become smaller when we see the real house..
