  1. Yes your are right.

And I am those who wash cloths every weekend until full load.

But the 3 metal stick (outside the window) not enough.

So, need some bomboo stick and just hang it up.

I need at least 5 bamboo post.

For the retractable stick (inside the window), I intend to take it out and maybe see whether any wall to drill into it.

But then keep looking at the floor plan, seem that no wall for me to drill!!!!

I also thought of buying a dryer, but then, space is the problem!!!

U're right ! I have been looking and drawing & drawing my kitchen cabinet to suit the holder. It's is a big headache. The contractor say needs to take it out and install another type of retractable holder from the celiling. BUT I have a low renovation budget so i cannot afford this.

U know there is a 2 in 1 washing machine cum dryer which cost $1000 + + + ,maybe it will solve your problem.

Hi Cindy, you already found your contractor?

    Already confirmed?

If you wont mind, how much he/she quote you?

  2. Talk to my neighbour today, (floor also granite), she told me she see how they do.

After they lay the granite, they use a machine (not big one), and grind the edges and sides to make it smooth.

    Is it true??

    Anybody can confirm??

  3. Hi.You seemed pretty stressed up with the search for a suitable ID/contractor to your new home.

Anw, maybe you would like to start off with going to a place like IMM since that is the place where most IDs are situated.

From there, you can 'cover' more IDs.

Tell them your expectations and let them get back to you.

As what REDBOTTLE said, then you can filter out the sincere for the non-sincere ones.

Pardon me for saying this. But i think the reason why Homemaker is doing all these fanciful stuff even after you repeatedly say that you want it as per move-in condition is just so that they can use ur unit as a showroom.

that's usually what these hard-core contractors do to poach more customers.

good luck for your search for a good ID !!

    Hi FEL

Thanks for your encouragement and moral support.

    Yes, I feel stress indeed.

Especially when I talked to my neighbour (already signed!!).

Pay 1st installment, and want to cancel 1 items from the list (cost about $1,400++).

But was told that it is the package, and can return only $1k.

Means you have to pay them some sort of penalty of $400+++.

My neighbour say no choice liao, what to do, already sign and ask them to do.

Yes, for showroom and that is why lots of designs and features to let new customers see.

But then, if everyday facing the design/features, I will feel bored. hehehehe...

Anyway I am going to draft out the letter and email to them saying I am dont want their service anymore.

    That will relieve my stress.

Really I feel very stress when talking to them.

  4. not to mention that there's only 3 metal grilles. unless u wash clothes everyday, it wont be enough to hang dry a week's load :)

    Yes your are right.

And I am those who wash cloths every weekend until full load.

But the 3 metal stick (outside the window) not enough.

So, need some bomboo stick and just hang it up.

But then keep looking at the floor plan, seem that no wall for me to drill!:dunno:!

I also thought of buying a dryer, but then, space is the problem!:curse:

  5. Yo, likely we won't remove the holder as it can be use for hanging cloths.

There's no bamboo holes outside the kitchen anymore, anyone notice it? It's the same metal holder sticking outside replacing the bamboo holes.

check it out before you decides to remove it.

Yes my mum decide to bring it down.

Buy those (I dont know the name) to hang bamboo stick.

  6. Last time when I source for quotes from them, they are also the cheapest. I mean really cheap cheap. So fishy until I realize, many things not included. Didn't use them bcos dun have much confidence. I prefer a reno contractor who is more open and detail about their pricing. Have to be more realistic with the budget and not fish ppl with initial cheap quote and later when everything finalise... the quote makes you faintz!

    Hi Lin,

From 1st Aug until now, about 2 week plus, I wil talk to the ids, some give quotation, some did not reply back, some give quotation too general....need to do comparision.

Going to meet another 4 id this weekend.

Yesterday rec' a call from them, he wanted me to go down and look at the materials and granites tiles.

I told him I will fax his quotation with the items I want. He seem to know and told me the design and material use is best one.

This evening, I am going to send email to him to cancel off his services.

I am now making a first rejection to the contractors.

More to come.....so that I can zoom down the shortlisted ids/contractors.

I think homemakers is my first contractors to be drop off from my list.

Reason is they emphasie on designs (which I am not fancy of), and quotation is roughy drafted out. And no measurement. Many loopholes. By talking with them and my neighours makes me feel that they are trying to close the deal asap.

So, I am going to drop them off my list.

  7. hv any1 tried pull out the laundry bar in kitchen to see the height? i tried last sunday.. probably only shortie like me n mama would appreciate it.. hahaha.. is really within our reach leh.. but any taller would :P right onto it..

    laundrybarheightbr9.jpg

My mum wanted to take away the rack as the basin is at the corner.

So, on top, she will want to have a top cabinet.

And to replace this, she need to buy those metal holder to bomboo stick.

So, means have extra in length for cabinet.

    How about that??

  8. :o wah... :o brother here got big budget leh! Granite for the whole house!! :P

From my previous research, lighter colored granite are mostly from China. In terms of porous density, it is not as good as the Indian granite. But indian granite are only good for dark colors.

I am not really sure about the codes for the different color tones. I know a shop in IMM that has a wide range of natural stones. Shop name is Awin. In a small corner of IMM.

You can go there to check out the stones to see if there are any on display that will suit your needs.

Point to note though... his prices are not all that cheap. But he has the best display of natural stones I have come across. So go there to get information is the best! :P

    Hello GnM

    Thanks!

For indian granite, I intend to use it as kitchen top and probably granite sink (I found it somewhere here).

And for flooring, I wanted to find one which is very light in colour and very less tiny black dot.

No lah, not big budget. Only move in condition, no design/features wall.

So, intend to spend a little bit more on flooring.

I have been searching the web:

    For kitchen top;

Saphire Blue, Emerald Peral, Blue Pearl, Black galaxy, Steel grey or Verde Ubtuba.....

    For flooring:

    Kashmir White, Implerial White.....

I am still checking and hopefully the above will not cost a bomb.

My budget is around $4 to $8 per feet.

    Any suggestions???

  9. Hi Everybody

As I am choosing granite for my whole floor: living, bedroom, dinning room, any one can give me some suggestions on choosing the granite.

So far, I have learn that granites range from $3.50 to $50 per ft.

And is there any granite (I mean the code) for a lighter colour? Such as white with light pink or green or blue.

My neighbours took 801 code, then there is tys, white peal.

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

    HAPPY

  10. aiyoh... where got such things wans?

If there is, confirm will be posted in the papers liow.

we went thru >36 quotations, most of them with second appointments before we decided on the one that did our home.

    So no worries.

If everyone is like your friend, how in the world are you going to be sure that you got the best deal for your buck?

I would say Humbug to your friend. The money is yours, you have to do due diligence to ensure that you are satisfied with what you are paying for.

If you think that the current list of contractors/ID is not up to your mark, then go ahead and look some more. :yamseng:

    33?? That is amazing.....

    Yes money is ours.

We are the one who live in.

    Thanks.

  11. hee.. nope.. i living on the horrible hill top.. bet u r frm blk29 :notti:

    oic, maybe you meet before....heheheh...

I mean pass by each other in the market or ntuc.

So you are in blk 33 or 31?

Anyway, when I get my key, I let you know so that you n your family can come and take a look.

Btw, still searhing for reliable contractors with good worksmanship.

    You already have in mind??

  12. Happy... u got a flat in Commonwealth View hor? I am among the earliest batch who got my key. So can u imagine how badly swarmed I am when I first visited my new flat.

All of them offering to use my unit as show flat which I am not really keen at all. I ended up not engaging any of them. One of them actually always pop by my flat when I started renovation. Keep asking me who is doing reno. Now... that is really scary man.

But I always act blur and keep cool. Say my brother is the one who coordinate then try to be friendly lor. Ask them about business etc and whenever see these guys just smile at them and don't think too much.

I'm sure these ppl have connection. They always sit together so become fren fren already. You don't have to worry... lots of ppl move in already so they have better things to do right now and they can't remember who they quoted for.

    Hi LIN

NO I am not staying in commonwealth view.

    Mine is Jalan Membina.

I will take note of this when I get my keys and those pple follow you from behind.

And those pple ask you who reno your house.

Good idea as you said, my brother in charge, anything, call him.

    lol.

  13. Hi BRAINSTORM

I dont know if what my friend tell me is true or not.

He told me it is better not to approach those who always station below the new flats touting for customers.

They got link to each other.

And if you ask them quotation and then drop all of them, they will make things h..e..ll for your new flats.

    That really freak me out.

Now I have 3 appointment this weekend, I am not sure want to go or not.

  14. ...if.....

My friend told me not to call too many contractors.

    I ask why?

Cos' if some contractors give quotation to you and you decided to drop him,

he will do nasty thing to you such as spoilt your metal gate, open the water, etc..

to make **** to your new home.

He ask me better stop now.

    What should I do?

Is what he say is true?

So far, 4 id quoted for me.

The rest still waiting for their quote.

    I feel uneasy and scare.

  15. Hi RED

    Thanks for your info.

So far 3 id has quote me.

And I can say HomeMakers price is attractive.

But, but only cancel out all teh design/features wall, false & lbox lights...

    I dont need those.

But then when comparing against 4 & 5 room, aiyo, I think they do it in haste. Many things never type in.

So, I might call them tomorrow and send the quotation back to them with the items I dont want.

I am sure their face will drop.

    Why?

    Cos' no design/features involved!:)!

What I want is move in condition only.

Only then I can see their attitude!

  16. We signed with ***** to secure the package first.. Many stuffs not finalised yet, then the quotation also not received yet, so unable to share the cost with you guys first.. I will get the quotation and 3D drawings together.. :)

We signed with them cos we seen and like many of their designs and so far, we are quite comfortable with our ID also. If we decide not to go to them for the renovation after they had finalised the quotation and drawings, the deposit can be used to offset one of the item in their package within the value paid. So we feel that its quite a fair and reasonable deal, so we signed with them to secure the package price.. :dunno:

Mitsubishi brand better ar?? Haven't really evaluated which brand is good and energy saving..

I went there last sunday very late.

Manage to talk to 2 id.

1 is ***** & the other is Arts & Thots.

    Are they ok?

  17. Collect key in Sept in CCK Resale.

Currently sourcing for contractor/ ID to re-do the whole house.

Theme of desing will be Simple but Practical

Any recommendation for ID/ Contractor with good workmanship. Don't mind paying a bit more for good workmanship which is my wife number one criteria. :(

    Hi SMALL

Your theme is simple but practical.

So are you referring to 'Move In Condition'? or

    Design/Featuers included?

Just for info, I opt for move in condition and not fancy about design/features.

That will really cut cost alot.

  18. Hmmm, the package i signed with my ID comes with free system 3 air-con, but is Fuji brand. Not sure good anot.

Also, for information, there will be another 2 home and deco fairs in Expo, one in Sept and the other in Oct. :(

Which id you sign on with, care to share with us or pm me??

I am still searching high and low and undergroud.
