  1. I have to agree with you. i also engaged Melvyn to help me managed my home renovation. He always provide up to date status of the house renovation, and he is quick to rectify any defects. Worry free. Will definitely recommend him to others.
  2. 24. This is the frame with mirror and cabinet for master bedroom. That is all for my home renovation done up by Mr K. Really like his service that he is patience with us and giving us guidance. He tried to cater to our needs whenever we suddenly wanted to add or change things. Even after everything is done, he helped us to arrange his people to come down to touchup and fix things. We do not have to worry about the progression during renovation as he will be there to overlook and give us updates time to time.
  3. 18. The cabinet with storage shelves behind, it is everything done up by the carpenter. MASTER BEDROOM 19. Opened the master bedroom can see the L-shaped wardrobe. 20. Our queen size bed and customized bedframe and headboard fit nicely. There ae also drawers underneath the bed. 21. The curtains and bay window. 22. We also install our aircon and mount TV in our master bedroom. Aircon was installed there because air circulation is better and will cool down the whole room faster. 23. One panel shower screen with a swing door in master bedroom.
  4. SERVICE YARD 12. We are using city gas for our water heater, dryer and stove. We have the water heater and dryer installed at one end. The water heater is linked to both toilet shower as well as hand wash basin. 13. The other end of the service yard is for washing machine with the kerb. Some people will prefer to have dryer stack ontop of washing machine that the service yard is neater. But we prefer top load washer as it cleans more effectively and we do not have to buy special detergent. 14. Just to say, we have installed magnetic insect net screen for our service yard and one of the bedroom and going to install more. This can help to deter lizards and unwanted pest. I do believe it helps in a certain extent as I have seen complaints from my neighbours they are infested by houseflies, fruitflies etc. as of so far, we only encounter one or two very tiny midges. BEDROOM 1 15. Just simple painting, lights, curtain, wall fan and magnetic net so that we can open the window and allow ventilation for my dog. BEDROOM 2 and BOMB SHELTER Didn’t do much in both places, just lights and painting. In the bomb shelter we have installed the metal type boltless rack, I didn’t snap any pics because its too messy inside. Wood material is cheaper but we are afraid of termites in long run so we choose metal, and once it happen it hard to get rid of. However, our project is near the sea, high in salt content and will rust easily. Its up to you to decide. 16. just a simple 3 downlights with 2 way control for the walkway COMMON TOILET 17. A space suit concept for the shower screen. In honest opinion, I think it eats up quite a fair bit of space and the edges are sharp on the edge of the floor tiles if one is not careful might get hurt. We overlayed the floortiles and it looks nicer and its rougher in surface for extra safety for kids and elderly.
  5. 7. Another view of the dining tablet, simply love the lights we bought from Ikea, we can alternate the shape and the amount of light. And also the see through glass to the kitchen and living room KITCHEN 8. For this end we did a top and bottom cabinet and a full height cabinets to accommodate our oven, microwave and water purifier. 9. there is a glass plank in between the bottom and top cabinet, behind the sink.. there are two types of sink out there, stainless steel and ceramic type. Stainless steel is cheaper but was warned that if thaw stuff, the condensation might hurt the carpentry in long run. Ceramic is more expensive and more heavy, it can be undermount/top mount. But undermount would require more materials to hold it in place. So we did a top mount. The tap we bought is a pull out type, the nozzle is flexible. Apparently the water quality in punggol aren’t that clean, so we bought a 3M water purifier dispenser. It has a filter and UV ray function, on top, it has hot, cold and normal water too. Just to say those intending to buy one dispenser too, remember to have your contractor to ask them drill a hole on the countertop and carpentry so that the tubings can run through. Otherwise it will be super troublesome. And drill a hole on the glass plank if you intend to buy those magnetic knife holder. The dish tray below remember to clear it once a while as it will trap water and ideal place for mosquito breeding. For this I’m thankful that Mr K is very understanding and kind to help me drill a hole etc as I only inform him after all of them are up. Because the countertop drilling would require special equipment that only can be done in the factory. 10. The other side of the kitchen we have the bottom cabinet installed from end to end.with a white color glass plank half height behind the stove to prevent splitter and easy cleaning. From what we know there are different quality for the white color, for the normal white plank will carry a tinge of green as it is made of glass. So we upgraded it to be using the crystal type so that it doesn’t have the tinge of green. 11. overview of the kitchen. For some reason the kitchen lights appear to be purplish/blue totally have no idea why it is so. We have totally given up hopes on the kitchen lights, initially bought one from taobao but its too big and its malfunctioning. So we bought it in Singapore’s LED shop, but it appeared to be different tone for the light and according to them it is the brightest already.
  6. Part 3/3.. Renovation completed and moving in. Dear all, I can see quite a lot of neighbours are also in this t-blog chat too =) welcome everyone! I apologise for the late post as I just moved in last week and still in the midst of cleaning up etc. I believe some of you have seen some excellent job and pretty homes that Mr K have helped to designed and oversee. However, for my case those design is what we requested, it is simple nothing much fanciful. We just want a cosy and practical home that’s all. Hence, this is my last update for my house but please feel free to ask me any questions. Let me segregate this post parts by parts according to the house. PS: please pardon for the messy house as it contains our stuff, it is unlike those professional photos whereby everything is placed nicely. 1. This is the new furkid that just join our family. She is just 4 months old, but her size doesn’t make her look like one. And that tree we bought is apparently her next “best friend” when we are too busy to entertain her. LIVING ROOM 2. Sofa, coffeetable and carpet bought in star living, and the fan we bought is fanco with LED lights. Just a side note to those buying fanco brand type of fans, the package doesn’t come with bolts/nuts. Mr K’s electrician found it unsafe, so he went out to help us source the bolt out to tighten and secure it. I have seen cases in my FB group post that they found it wobbling for their home. The curtain is always drawn down due to some fengshui thingy and the windows cannot be opened at all times. We opt this option than creating a partition to block which will eat up quite a far bit of space. Just some suggestion for those who believe.. 3. Our customise TV console whereby we hide the plugs etc inside. The TV and soundbar are mount onto the wall. The quality is super thumbs up! For those taking my republic plan for their home network, you can ask the technician to fix the router up at tv console of course it looks abit unsightly, but I can say the signal is really good and fast even in my own master bedroom which is down the corridor. Alternatively, you can have both the router and modem all fixed up together in the DB board and buy another router and fix it somewhere in the house to have full coverage. I have tried starhub and singtel service back at my old place, the speed and signal is not as good. The only downside of this is that have to buy 2 cordless phone, one is to be fixed at the modem (DB board) and another outside. Because the home phone line must be fixed to the modem. We pretty much do a two way control for our lights (living room, walkway and master bedroom) that why you can see a long stretch of on/off switches. It is for easier accessibility. 4. This is the shoe cabinet that we had. The empty space became our deco area. 5. The small side cabinet to join the DB board and shoe cabinet, it is used to store umbrella and dog leash etc. There are small spaces under the DB board, the carpenter is nice enough to help use add a few planks to put our stuff. 6. Our dining place, table and chairs etc is bought from starliving as well. We purpose shifted our switch up so that easier access to have steamboat etc.
  7. Personally i feel that invisible grilles is more catered for those having balcony, so that it would look nicer overall.what i know is that invisible grille is like one thread all link together, one snap all need to change. But then again by right all these shouldnt be easy to snap. Window grilles have more flexibility? I mean you can slide them and open etc. And more secure in a sense. Just to say the window grilles installed is 2 track type. If u are thinking to do those mosquito net, i would advise u to tell your contractor/ID to do 3 tracks (of course more expensive). Is because i overlooked this minor details, and then my net have some problem to install. Haha. Our project seriously have alot of unwanted visitors. Lol.
  8. Hello Sunshinyg. Thank you for your compliment.. You staying on waterway banks/ridges project too? Haha.. the window grilles only and HDB submission for window work included, would be $1350.
  9. Hi Ha88yLife. My apology for late reply. Was busy recently with the final phase of renovation and moving in. Will update soon when all have been done. Mr K contact number is 90222321.
  10. Hi,I don't really recall the exact amount as it is handled by my husband and he is overseas now. Yes, they are all blum. The blum cabinets + caesarstone + glass backing lumpsum cost about $8700+,if i dont recall wrongly. This is a newer generation of Blum, so its more expensive. Probably, you might find it on the high side. But the materials we selected are good quality, hence we dont mind paying more since we are staying for long. For eg, caesarstone countertop we have 10years waranty. The duration I dont feel its will be accurate as my renovation was halt in between due to CNY. I believe if it is continuous might be able to do it within 6weeks or less? Hope this helps.
  11. 16. internal view and material for the cupboards 17. small space between the DB board and shoe cabinet is fully utilize and make it no unsightly gaps. 18. Washing machine kerb nicely done up, and my washing machine fit just nicely! 19. slide out tray to put the condiments
  12. 11. covered up the unsightly pipes 12. Blum drawers 13. more blum drawers 14. final look for the kitchen 15. dish tray. Love the cabinet, it can open very wide! Especially useful for family members whom are tall
  13. 6. customised TV console up 7. Quartz Caesarstone up 8. customized bedframe and bay window 9. Shoe cabinet 10. My wardrobe(L shaped)
  14. Part 2… 10/Apr/2015 1. Master bedroom toilet mirror and cabinet outlay 2. common toilet mirror and cabinet outlay 3. kitchen bottom cabinet outlay 4. another side of kitchen, top and bottom + full height 5. Shoe cabinet
  15. 12. We dislike the toilet tiles provided by the HDB, hence we chose our toilet tiles from Hafary and just need to provide the staff with the code given by Mr K, they will make the necessary arrangement. Before CNY, the toilet tiles were overlayed and done (unfortunately I did not take any pictures). We chose a dark coloured rough surface tiles, so that it is anti-slipped. of course I foresee and was warned that it is tough to clean. Shower kerb, kitchen kerb and washing machine kerb was done by the same person, done within a few days. As we are too busy to oversee the piping and trunking running of the aircon, Mr K had a discussion with us prior to making the first appointment for aircon installation. He gave us suggestion on how the aircon piping should run so that it wont compromised the overall "beauty" of the house while accommodating to our needs. We wanted to install 2 aircon compressors, 1x24k compressor for living room and another compressor 1x18k living room and 2x9k for the other 2 bedrooms. 13. as we could not go down to site and see the progress. Mr K actually drew out and took snapshot to ask us whether want to have it "boxed up" or not. living room trunking to be boxed 14. Electrical points were added and modified (drilled inside). We are doing a two way switch in the living room (when we first enter the house) and prior walking down the hall way to the rooms will have another switch. this picture contains the latter. 15. Initially my husband and I did not want to take any bank loans, but in the end we still went ahead. We took RHB loan which was recommended by our contractor, and was given a special rate. However, we encountered bad service from the bank officer which was an unpleasant experience. In all, I'm impressed by the amount of work and progression that Mr K managed to help us oversee for the short 5 week; every week we see new things being done up, a step closer to completion. Will make a 2nd entry after the carpentry is up.
  16. 7. Glass panel and glass door is up! 8. All window grilles are installed (this is for living room). We did full height window grilles, as most window installer outside is only doing the middle portion. We only sent the drawings and colours of the window grilles we wanted (based HDB approved designed), he made the arrangement. 9. service yard window and grilles installed. really pleased with the workmanship. 10. Our "space suit" shower screen in common toilet. nowadays, the BTO is quite small for the toilet, hence the only down side is this will obstruct the opening of the toilet small window, we were informed of this before they install, but we still went ahead. Because common toilet wont be used by us that often. 11. Glass shower screen (1 fixed panel + 1 swing door).
  17. Dear All! As I'm like all of you a new homeowner to the newly built 4 room BTO flat. I'm excited to post and share with you my experience during this process. First and foremost, my husband and I managed to get our keys at 31 Dec 2014 (best gift) to sum up our 2014. So we actually started to source out for contractor to do up our house since Nov 2014. Through some internet search and renotalk, we manage to find and secure ourselves with Mr K (H2O interior design). Just a side note, as our key collection is near the end of 2014 and start of 2015, chinese new year in Feb, we were told and inform that the work will be slightly slower. Since we are not in a rush for it to be done, so we understand and let Mr K to make arrangements that is the most suitable for us and his fellow subcons/workers. therefore this post will only contain work done before CNY. Planning and measurements were done before CNY, so that all these could be sent to factory for preparation and after CNY can start to install the items. In the first week of 2015, he came down to my new home and did the measurements for the windows/ kitchen carpentry and did some drawings for additional/modification of electrical points, he was also very kind to help us do a rough check for defects. As we are hacking half of the wall, he did the measurements and markings, and within the same week he sent it off for HDB approval. On the same day, he asked his carpenter and the false ceiling subcon to come down my place to do measurement and drawings and gave a rough quote; super efficient and i was surprised too. Here are some links for the drawings of carpentry: We have chose the materials/types for our carpentry and it is coded as such in the drawings. 1. high quality kitchen countertop (caesar stone) 2. Toilet design and layout with mirrors and cabinets 3. shoe cabinet and tv console drawings 4. master bedroom- bay window, L-shaped wardrobe & customised bedframe 5. kitchen cabinet's design I don't really recall the timeline but within 2 weeks all these following were done! 6. half wall was approved and hacked
