Hi all Sorry i HAVE to clear all perceptions on BOSE. One dont need a premium brand to sound better than Bose. In fact am entry level $2.5K Definitive Technology speakers sounds 200 times better than Bose. The only minus point for ADAPTIQ (whatever that is) is that they dont decode HD audio format eg True HD & DTS master Audio. In fact, Bose are still selling jurassic technology with future premium prices. If you decide to get a bluray player, I can 100% guarantee that you have to upgrade your system coz Bose cant decode HD formats. A basic $1K receiver (Yamaha, Onkyo, Denon) would suffie for the job here. So think twice before getting Bose. Its expensive, its old tech & it doesnt sound any greater tahn a HTiB. Cheers

I would rate B&W's PV-1 sub the best amongst the lot. It has a very high WAF & performance is solid. As for the other subs, I always look up to fellow-HTS who are adventurous, you wont go wrong with either the SVS or Velodyne. The Velodyne SPL-800i (proud owner) delivers a hefty 2000watts dynamic power. Its also **** heavy at 30kg. Alternatively grab the CHT 12Q model. Its a 12" forward firing sub. Cheers

Quoted from KEC SVS subs SB10 NSD - $800++ SB12 NSD - $1,350 Both are small box sub. Dont be deceived by its size. Its the best so far. And if you dont liked it, I'll buy it from you. Expect to wait as theyre low on stock, i think. Velodyne - 8Q or 10Q series. Both are performance packers. Neighbor will call you to check if there's an earthquake cheers

Bro, Read the manual. Onkyo has Audyssey calibration. Use that, its superb. I understand if you couldnt get that OMMph feel as it may due to the subwoofer's capability or the lack of it. Im not sure whats the technical & performance specs for KEF's sub, but most of the time, a sub will play a big part in giving the owner the difference needed. SVS or Velodyne sub are 2 brands I'll recommend & proud owners of these brands in this forum will vouch for them. Since youve already bought KEF, just enjoy them until the next upgrade but do consider changing the sub. cheers

Hi Take note Onkyo 608 do not have Multi EQ Audyssey. You may consider the 708. The Yammy 667 is a good entry level receiver. KEF shop do not have exclusive for Yamaha or Onkyo amps, thus they can only pair it up with Pioneer amps. KEF is a good set with a dedicated centre speaker. Do be wary of the sub though. cheers

Hi Have u wondered why 6 Ohm rated receivers need a internal cooling fan? Thats becoz the blardy thing heats up easily!! Same goes for some Onkyo receivers. Yes, on both counts on your queries, 6 ohm rated requires more power to drive 8 Ohm rated speakers. And yes, receiver with more power can handle in proper speakers with the corresponding power or less. I do suggest you audition Yamaha or Onkyo receivers. Pioneer amp may be good but Im not at all impressed. cheers

MT30 may be around a long time & tats becoz of its popularity & demand! And yes, no other sat speakers has managed to dethrone this beauty. But of coz, the BOSE owners would say otherwise as their prices are effectively more expensive. Yes, the 708 has more edge over the 608 (multi EQ calibration, Faroudja upscaling) Its all in the question of budget. At this time being, the dealers cables would suffice. You may consider using Belden only for your LCR speakers. Hope this info helps. You getting black or white. cheers

Was a DefTech user before & yes, for watching movies, the audio is rather crisp but slight hollowed. I prefer audio which is more full bodied. You may consider upgrading your sub. I rate B&W better because it has more "character" in its audio. DefTech`s weak link is evident when it comes to music listening. I would advise one to get a more balanced HTS. cheers

Scott hi Thks for the update. Im atcually inquiring about the Yamaha Aventage RX-A1000, A2000 & A3000. Is it in Spore yet? Whats the price for the Onkyo 707 now. You have stock for black color model? For everyone's info - the 708 is $1,280-00. Best price ah Scott? Im used to dealing with either Alan or your boss Clarence. Cheers -
To get your speakers & sub to have a proper workout, these bluray titles below are recommended- 1) Knowing (the plane crash & the train accident scenes) 2) Sherlock Holmes (good visual esp on plasma, excellent crisp dialogue) 3) King Kong-most of the action scenes 4) Master & Commander - a good reference movie for tight bass 5) Toy Story 1 & 2- fantastic pix & audio is brilliant 6) 2012 cheers

Scott Hi Good to have someone from KEC in this forum. Ok price inquiries - Onkyo 708 The new Yamaha advantaeus models. cant remember the model. cheers -
What about LG's speakers? Those that are "specially tuned by Mark Levinson". Has very nice exterior features & curves but that cant be said about the sound quality. Its not easy to have "nice looking" speakers without compromising audio quality. You can take a look at Tannoy Arena speakers. That'll set u back about $4K without receiver & stands. Glad u quitted BOSE. Theyre IMHO, the worst & overpriced HTS ever.

Not unless youre watching in HD format though..... cheers
