hi dino! yup..met ur hubby yesterday and my reno started yesterday as well. i must say the progress is super fast (or maybe we think it's fast la)..hahaha! yesterday they motar screed the walls and floor and layed tiles on half the living rm. today, they've completed 90% of the living rm (10% is near the area where we'll be hacking wall), 90% of common toilet wall tiles, 30% tv feature wall..very impressed with just 2-3 workers speed!! now hoping the MBR toilet wall tiles stock will arrive soon.. i thought u've chosen your both toilet wall tiles already...?? ur mum changed her mind?

wow..alister, u sure bought a lot of items at a go.. dun mind me asking how much was it u spent in all? wat's a bottle trap? hi TPCRC2, really appreciate ur initiative to get everyone together. just wondering, why do we need so many house warming or get-together sessions? if it's about knowing-your-neighbours, what plans do u have installed for us?
-
hi alister..where's indulge? sounds familiar..wat did u buy and how much u spent? HDB contractor haven't do my cement screeding yet.. =( ..but my tiles are going up already..

LOL!!

need not worry..u only need to check with leonard on the haulage payment then u listen to what he says lor. whether included in quotation or not, still need to pay de. =)
-
fixed by town council..the contact persons list is pasted at Blk C lift lobby. sand price goes up, consumers blood pressure also go up. it shld be stated in ur quotation, otherwise u pay to the haulage ppl separately cos the $$ doesn't go to ur ID. =)
-
hur hur...sadly, no...
-
hi tension_z..for ur own safety, it's best to engage an ID or contractor who's licensed. and i believe the haulage fee is fixed for 4rm @ $900...if u laminate/parquet ur rooms, it will be abt $700..unless ur ID absorbs partial of the haulage cost, like Alister's..then it'll be cheaper.
-
hi lifeisocrappy..a few of us in this forum have engaged substance. strawberry_pear & gadgetman are under id Leonard Poh. dino & myself are under Eesy Lim. zanie98 is probably taking up with Eesy Lim as well. comments are so far so good for both ids. if u're open in design ideas, Eesy has a lot of ideas to incorporate. Leonard has been very fair to both strawberry & gadgetman. They've been singing praises in the early replies. Both look into budget and needs of their customers. You may indeed consider.

hi joelex..welcome~ u can source in balestier, geylang or jalan besar. balestier has more fanciful lightings..whereas jalan besar is more normal..like flourescent..down lights..etc.. ultimately, it also depends on how powerful ur bargaining skills are. =p

The Posturepedic Imperial Award Queen size is @ $2199. He has been calling shay_d relentlessly..omg..but we told him we'll not go for it. We went to Furniture Mall Sealy's Gallery. The range is called Mayfair and it'll be displayed in 2wks time. The price is slightly cheaper than OM. They'll call us when the mattress is there..I'll let u know if you wanna go down. The "get cheaper if price goes down" is also honoured at the gallery and Courts. Courts mainly sells Backsaver range. If you're looking at Posturepedic, Courts will not be ideal. Nevertheless, I've written down the prices offered at Courts..you can do a comparison. Sealy Heritage Firm: Q$966 K$1068 Sealy Heritage Pillowtop: Q$1497, K$1693 Sealy Heritage Plush: Q$1293, K$1494 It comes with 2 free Sealy pillows and mattress protector as well. We asked for further discounts and were given vouchers. Enough to buy a good rice cooker or toaster. Check with you ah..your living room main wall has any cut in? I dunno how to describe leh..it's like there's a "hole" in the wall which will likely fit the feature wall..can't think of the word... hi gadgetgal, i won't be going for the bulk purchase. AllBest doesn't have bulk purchase specials too. though sad to read that there're negative comments on AllBest but it doesn't happen on everybody, i hope. we've already committed with them so we'll just hope for the best..counting on our lucky stars~

gadgetman, so happy to know ur carpentry is on the way! i'm still struggling with which wall to hack and how to incorporate the design into my limited space! tiles will be in tomorrow..and they'll be uploading the sand on wednesday..so hopefully all will go with minimal hiccups... like wat alister said, i also suspect the floor plan is bigger than the actual space. and there's difference in the layout as well. wonder if hdb cheat my space and $$ or not...
-
hi jo..not yet..so far only ventured the west..soon to be the east..hehe. been doing a lot of walking..dun think i've ever walked so much for my clothes..

Yes, we did ask him for 1/2" but 1/2" goes with Class 1 (probably as in your case). He said 3/8" with Class 0 is good enough cos Class 0's density is better already. But if we insist on 1/2", top up lor. So we stood with what will be given. Anyway, he said he can't cheat us or CaseTrust will look for them. I'm sorry. I mean the division is normally e.g. for sys 3 is standard (3 x 9BTU) or (3 x 10BTU) right? We're able to get (12BTU) for MBR, whereas the other 2 rooms remain at (9BTU) at the given price. Which also means our MBR will cool faster too but it won't affect the other rooms. Ideally, piping should also run as short as possible to minimise condensation. Ours from AllBest, 3rd floor. Sales person is uncle Bernard Was also told by him...dunno how true lah...that Mitsubishi & Toshiba only gave them 1 mth to promote the "not standard" BTU config..so last day, if you want, is Wed. Afterwhich, it's back to standard (3 x 9BTU) etc (no change in the prices, so don't worry )..and to change BTU config, must add $$.
-
hi alister, we've checked on Mitsubishi & Toshiba. Mitsubishi system 3 & 4 inverter @ $2738 & $3538 respectively (incl GST) (12BTU, 2 x 9BTU) & (18BTU, 13 BTU, 2 x 9BTU) - if we don't recall wrongly, Armaflex Class 0, 3/8" insulation, Grade 23 SWG Totalline copper pipe, drainage pipe 16mm, compressor 5yr warranty, repair & parts 1yr warranty, 2 trips, unlimited piping length, only Mitsubishi COMPRESSOR is made in Japan. All else is assembled in Thailand. Toshiba system 3 & 4 inverter @ $2456 & $3456 respectively (incl GST) (12BTU, 2 x 9BTU) & (22BTU, 13 BTU, 2 x 9BTU), all else same as Mitsubishi but fully imported and made from Japan. From next year onwards, no brands will be "Made in Japan". Next year onwards, there won't be any air-con with above 30,000 BTU as well as it will be controlled by NEA. The sales person, Bernard did mention that his prices will go no lower as they're certified under CaseTrust. He did caution that we might be able to get even cheaper prices outside but the quality and parts/material used for installation might not be what we'll be looking for. Even if we top up for it, as consumers we won't know if they've really given us what we paid for. He said something about Best T**h promoting highly on Mitsubishi Heavy as it cools the room faster and it's cheaper cos it's catered more for industrial market. However, Mitsubishi Heavy is managed by another company. Therefore, if your a/c fails or requires attention, Mitsubishi Electric won't be responsible. Oh..erm..before I forget, was told we won't be able to change the BTU division e.g. 12BTU (MBR), 2 x 9BTU (BR2 & 3) unless you top up. Otherwise, it's standard 3 x 9BTU (also known as 10BTU to some). Hope my info is efficient.
