I don't know leh.. Hopefully, everything will look fine lor. The $$ spent is quite abit, but it's all on the basic things nia.. Yup.. My friend also told me that I got quite a great deal for my carpentry.. Somemore, bigger floor area. I just console myself that the $$ is well-spent lor. And yes, if you count in the lightings, furniture and the appliances that wr had got, about 70K liao. You never mention, I won't know we had already spent so much... Come to think of it, I think my house looks pretty empty leh. Cham ar. Without carpentry, even worse! Maybe you can try getting a quote? Perhaps, the quote will be within your budget? Can't judge a home by its floor area.. At least it's easier to maintain right? I don't dare to think about the cleaning chores to be done in future. Aiyo... If your husband sees this, he gonna cry his heart out.. You so naughty.. But I can't help but laugh out loud...

Nothing much to buy liao.. We got the important appliances covered months back.. Now just need to concentrate on how much carpentry we doing.. After that, I will be able to move in at the end of this month! Ya lor.. Super hard to come down.. Unless you forgo alot of things.. I also super scared that my wedding dinner will 'kui' like siao.. Keeping fingers crossed that we can break even lor. It's so stressed to live in Singapore.

Ya lor..The bigger the area, the higher is the bill. Mine is 148sqm.. About the same.. Even if we do the basic things like tiling, flooring, electrical works, carpentry etc, it will still come to 40K. My budget was about 40K.. Now approaching 50K liao, of course my heart is now stuck in my throat. Can hardly breathe now.. But hor, my boy and I thought it over liao.. Once we get passed this stage of renovation and the wedding in Feb next month, we will be able to 'breathe' freely again.. Just gonna tide over this period. Think for my house warming, will just treat everyone mantou and tea.

Not exactly swee swee lar.. But I guess, my floor area is quite big.. That's why everything is more expensive.. The flooring alone cost us quite a bit liao. I got many hacking of walls and rebuilding of walls too.. All these added to the bill. My renovation actually quite basic stuffs. Intend to keep it simple.. But the bill hard to keep it low. Partially, we opted not to use compressed wood at all. Not for the kitchen, not for the WIW or any carpentry.. Guess the material also caused the higher bill overall. We also had loads of lighting points. Be it contractor or ID, I think, most important, you gonna feel comfortable with them 1st..

Comments please! True also.. He is quite close to my boy.. But again, you will never know.. The good thing is, I need not go down and supervise the renovation.. Till date, there isn't much problems and the workmanship is fantastic. Yup. Mine is a resale flat. But I bought direct from HDB during the bi-monthly balloting exercise.. The original floor tiles is those plain white which we find it too boring.. Glossy never mind leh.. But it's those matt white.. Looks dull. So, we hacked up the whole house and re-do the flooring and kitchen and toilet tiles.. Till date, the whole renovation should be coming up to about 48k, inclusive of aircon, excludes furniture and appliances..

Ya lor.. We also thought about it too.. But we did cut out 3 small carpentry items.. !! Hmm.. Special price ar? I really don't know leh.. I know carpentry is measured by the length etc.. I also never really go into details. My boy is the one negotiating the prices. Maybe you can advise me? I got the following : - Feature wall for 37" TV for living room. (able to turn 360 degrees) - Platform for cosy corner, veneer(is this how you spell??) finishing. - Kitchen cabinets, 10 feet on the right side, a full height cabinet of about 4 feet on the left. - WIW of 2 rows that occupy half of original MBR. - Vanity top with build in sink (corian top - is this how you spell?) for WIW's wet area. - 2 MTM wooden doors for my WIW and my kitchen. - Feature wall for my 32" TV for MBR, 7 feet using veneer. Based on your understanding, how much should all these cost? Comments are welcomed. I am also curious to know whether I got a good price or not..

Hmm... Maybe I should hiong hiong just spend the $$ on my carpentry.. Carpentry very hard to save.. Especially if they are meant to be the highlight of my home. I don't want to skip certain carpentry now and do it later on.. Will be a mess right? All the dirt flying around.. Just discussed with my boy. Decided to go ahead with the carpentry. At least 90% of it. Our remaining savings should be enough to last us for some time. As for my contractor/ID, we engaged my boy's uncle who is in this line. !!

No need to envy me lar.. You can reno your house nicely in time to come. I am lucky that my boy had savings, thus we need not get any loan for renovation or for the furniture.. As for not buying furniture that we need, we already bought whatever we need liao. Haha!! Long before we started our renovation. The only outstanding $$ we got to fork out is for our carpentry. Still thinking whether we should dig further into savings to splurge on the carpentry or keep our savings intact.. Very tempting.. If only I can strike lottery or Toto.. But the only problem is, I don't even buy..

Ya lor...Really got to take it slow. Maybe my 1st time doing up a house. That's why abit excited over everything. 1st time, just want the best for all stuffs. Sigh. Got way to include them in.. Just that my boy and I will be near to depleting our savings.. Must stash some cash for rainy days mah.. Nope.. The 4k is a discount we managed to squeeze off the original quote. After the 4k discount, we are still overbudget by a few thousands.. We also thought the same like you said. Reno is for years. But on the other hand, we can add on the missing items, maybe after our wedding.. But just that the price will not be as low as what we had been offered now. Seriously, for the amount of carpentry we had, the price quoted to us was pretty reasonable. Just that we blew the budget previously for other stuffs.

Thanks Diva79. At least I am smiling over something else. Sigh. I also dunno what happened lar. Very pissed off with myself also. We missed out some stuffs here and there. All add together, comes up to be quite a huge sum. Got quite some carpentry.. Now, thinking what to do away with.. It is a super tough call... We already did our false ceilings.. Everything is up, only carpentry is not yet done. Just hope that everything will go on smoothly and we can move in by the end of this month lor.. I am so depressed that I did not bother taking photos to update my T-blog. My case different.. I already cleared all the payment for the tiling, painting, electrical etc... Only left the carpentry $$ not cleared.. So, I cannot take out whatever I had already done coz it had already been paid off.. I am just worried about the carpentry now. Taking a few items out is not really a big issue. Just that, the whole look will be incomplete.. Felt sian just by thinking about it..

Already cut away with 3 items.. Still over our initial budget.. Yup.. Actually, quite some changes.. But the changes can't be avoided.. Sigh.. Now, still thinking of means and ways to cut down on other areas..Just that it's going to be hard..

Yup..I did that for the whole of 3 hours. Had a long talk. From 2pm to 5plus.. Managed to save about 4k. But still need to fork out a considerable sum of $$. !! Gonna eat bread for the next 6 months.

Hi Gers, thanks for all the concern. Took urgent half day to discuss my carpentry thingy. Met some hicups when they were taking measurements for my WIW. Also need to top up some $$ for some additional items. Was bargaining for better prices. Need to fork out extra $$. Now feel like crap. !!

Hi Xinyi, thanks for your compliments. Yup.. I know normally, people only use 1 gown for outdoor. But I really can't resist taking another 1 more.. Otherwise, the photos will look very similar.. Bride not pretty, that's why need to rely on gowns to make myself more desirable.. But lucky that I can change in the yacht, otherwise my BS also won't allow me to bring out so many gowns.. When are you getting your pics? I want to see your complete pics!!

Hi vysweetapple! I am getting married in early Feb and my renovation started in early Nov. Had scheduled 3 months for the renovation and things were going pretty well till date. I am keeping my fingers crossed for no major hiccups. If you start renovation after Christmas, it means you will start in Jan 08. There is a whole of 3 months till your wedding date. If your house is not undergoing super massive overhaul, 3 months will be sufficent if your ID don't delay you. Fifi, I got my PS pics liao... You cannot run anymore.. Thanks Applefreak. We burst our budget. That's why we chose to do cement screed for the foyer area, thus need to choose a matching dark black or grey tiles to match it. Hopefully, the combination will turn out fine.
