  1. Thanks! So far I kinda like the spacious feeling so do not want to get anything to fill that part. That's why I hacked one of the rooms so that the living room will be bigger and be less longish. As we have only just finished the reno, there are many white patches on the black tiles, which need alot of cleaning to remove them. Our ID has also told us beforehand that we will face this problem. I don't regret getting these tiles cos i really like the color and soothing feel as compared to the glossy ones but gotta pay a small price to mop the floor regularly. My friend whose house are off white homogeneous faces staining yellowish problems or stickyness feeling.. so i guess no tile is perfect. Erm... Furniture Mall... I cant remember the name of the shop... -___- I think is species something... Anyway they brought a table that doesnt look the same as the one in the picture. Although it is almost the same. So I am waiting to see if they will bring a replacement. It costs $1900 before discount Yeap... it is very cosy with the proper furnishing and lighting. Both my htb and i just like to linger in the living room. Forgot where I got the lights..muz check again.. It costs $380 which i feel quite cheap for a simple chandelier,
  2. Thanks! haha.. black hse a lot problems... think Danny want to faint when we keep changing wall colors... Royal Franco..great place to buy toilet/kitchen stuff. Dun expect designer stuff tho.
  3. My Black-turn-grey Theme House (the camera makes the pictures look greenish. the actual wall color is v grey and not greeny)
  4. haizzzzzz ya lor........... quite upset... but my ID is responsive n the works are good so far so no complains...
  5. Wow. its been sooooo long since I last update. Has been so busy with work and renovation ... cant wait for the handover to come to pass soon (tentatively in 2-3weeks time) Renovations have been really slow....ZzzzzzzZZZzzzzzzz... no pictures for now as it is simply too messy for any decent shots at the moment. Some Updates and Thoughts... 1) Black is beautiful. My first coat is up and I must say it is very surreal. BUT it is also really very dark. Hence I asked for some parts of the wall color to be in dark grey instead. The effect of dark grey and black together is quite nice and does not gives u a moody feeling. 2) Black is troublesome. Because maybe my ID do not have much experience with renovating a house with a black theme, he did not foresee the possible problems that black theme will face. Problem 1: Lights become too glaring as the contrast is too great, plus HDB flats do not have high ceilings so it is very uncomfortable for my eyes (my hubby okay with it tho, so maybe its juz my sensitive eyes). Still trying to solve this problem. Problem 2: Very dark. So really need to play around with mixing with other colors and furniture. 3) Aircon in Living Room. As it is not appropriate to put a ceiling fan anywhere in the living room, the only alternative is aircon as we do not believe in blowing fans. This is an ultra cost increase for us as it takes 2 units in the living room. So in total we spent $7000+ on aircon and trunking. Thankfully the trunking is quite well done and hidden. ZzzZZz. 4) No more nice sliding glass doors at balcony area Thanks to HDB not approving my req to hack that stupid pillar and extend my small balcony, it is not feasible to install expensive glass doors. So we only level the balcony. ------------ After so long.... - Black Matte Homogeneous Tiles + Skirting up (very nice) - Walls hacked and plastered smooth - Aircon piping up - Electrical works done - False ceiling up - Toilet wall + floor tiles up - Downlights up Pending works - Installation of switches - Carpentry: Feature walls (Bomb Shelter, TV), Kitchen Cabinet/Bar Counter, Master Bedroom Wardrobe - Installation of Toilet + Kitchen Accessories - Installation of Mirror Feature at Dining - Laminate Flooring at Bedrooms (x2) - Installation of Casement Windows + Grills - Iron Gate and 2 Bedroom Doors - Aircon Unit x4 - Toilet Glass Doors - Installation of Curtains ZZZZzz.. dunno if they can really handover in 2 weeks. $$$ no enough. Pictures of some of our purchases Fabric Sofa (exact same color) This sofa feels very different from other fabric sofa we sat on, and manage to won us over despite us favoring leather sofa from the start. This is not cheap too, despite being a non-leather sofa but we just go with our feelings. (sigh) Dining Table I didnt like how typical tempered glass dining look like - thin with visible round metal thingy. So we immediately fell in love with this simple black dining set. No Visible Metal thingy! Smooth and Thick! Comes with 4 of these comfortable velvet Dining Chairs. For my small kitchen counter/bar counter, we bought the following: These are all in metal black and the smallest we can find. $$$$$$$$ All in all... Lights: $1260 Toilets/Kitchen Accessories: $2600 Sofa+Dining: $4300 Donations pls...........................................................o_______O
  6. I also spam chop! Welcome!! Picturesssss!!
  7. Thanks! Not many people will dare to venture into such a dark theme. Took me lots of research and guts to do so. LOL
  8. $3.80 ah... then is it the same I recommend? (see above - sorry a bit pinkish becos of the light shining thru my pink curtains) But mine i saw it at Soon Bee Huat. (i think everywhere also ard the same la) I cant tell from your picture of your white tile, is it matte or glossy? I vote for matte cos looks very soothing in the longer run (imho) Go for it if you really like. I really really like but in the end I chose the black counterpart as I am more comfortable with dark colors as whole
  9. A Picture of some of the tiles I have chosen (and not chosen) Not seen are the toilet wall tiles (which I forgot to take the samples...zzz) I took the picture without considering the very yellowish night lamp besides me and so the picture turns out to be quite yellowish. =P This is white equivilent of my black tile. Also $3.80.... very very white and nice. (sorry the picture is a bit pinky because of my pink curtains.)
  10. Nevermind about open concept kitchen then! It's harder to clean and I cant install Hood (cos it will be very ugly to) My kitchen originally is super small so no point not open concept... lol My reno process is vvvvvv slow...wanna zzz already. Now sourcing for aircon (2 system non inverter) any lobangs? Thanks! The floorplan is good for laying out your stuff and see what stuff you need to buy.. Visual aid not so much... =P Cos the colors not v accurate and variety is not alot. Mine is the glossy kind. There are alot of colors for me to choose from. And there are matte also. Laminate got many varieties, perhaps you want to check with your ID again? Virgo2829: Thanks! Let's hope the real thing is awesome. Have you source your aircon already? I am still looking. Well, the maintenance part is really on the dust. It will be quite obvious. As for watermarks, the person assured me that won't happen as many people used dark tiles for kitchen which is much exposed to water and oil. (but of coz dunno can trust the person anot)
  11. white homo matte tiles from soon bee huat may suit your theme perfectly. Its almost perfectly white with some shine. Abt $3.80 per tile so need to top up $$$. I will have got them if I have the courage to do a white theme. Off White homo tiles a bit passé but nonetheless safe choice. Black gloss homo tiles ain't that nice IMO. If you got $$$, black glaxy tiles really rocks. Any samples for us to comment? I dun think I saw a grey homo tile before I love your ceiling works btw, too bad mine was super simple despite bugging the ID.. LOL
  12. skywolf, greentea: my taste is quite eccentric in a way and I don't mind the dark theme as long it doesn't swing to sadistic or occultic kind of dark. Of cos having such a theme requires us to pay a high price for lights and bright classy furniture. Its all about making the right combinations in everything. Think for this theme, u either love it or hate it Simplyannes: Thanks! Hope the actual thing will turn out even greater! Yup, we hack bedroom 3 completely to let it be the dining area. Basically we hack quite a bit of walls. Like what you said, after hacking I only left the study room which will also be guestroom in any case we need. If you really want an open concept kitchen, I'm sure there's a way around it. But open concept like mine is more suitable for couples who doesn't really cook. This is more like a bar counter to me. actually my floorplan gives me alot of headache, with the slanted walk in master, long living which is ugly if you wanna clam dining there. gotta hack here hack there
  13. Darrenelle, hobbes and Diva: Thanks for your comments. I also too thought for very long before deciding on this. My first love is still white but I simply cannot stand yellowish stains and white wall/floor will result into that. Yes it will be dark, so we are going to play alot with lights and furniture to brighten up the place. Mirrors also will help but that will wait later cos no budget. LOL Also instead of gloss, I am getting matte black homogeneous tiles. Cos dun wan pple to zhao geng when they come, plus the gloss black ones do not look dark enough, i dont really like greyish black.. =P Any tips to maintain matte homo tiles?>
  14. The New and Final 3D Drawings (only minor changes will apply) Our Living Room (TV area) We add $$$ to the following: - Larger Drop Ceiling - Black Mirror as TV Feature Wall (instead of laminate) - Special "Stony" Looking Wall Tiles at the side Note: The red in real life will not look so bright as I prefer a darker shade of red. Open Concept Kitchen cum Bar Counter and Bomb Shelter with Shoe Cabinet Seatee I love my kitchen alot! The Bomb Shelter blend in very well with the red Shoe Cabinet Seatee (This is much better than the original layout. Besides we don't have much shoes) Back View of the Kitchen Master Bedroom We add $$$ to have a TV Feature Wall within the Build in Wardrobe. Both my HTB and I do not have alot of clothes and so combining the Wardrobe with the TV Feature is an awesome idea. The rest of the clothes will be kept in another wardrobe I like the red part, as it will be glass instead of laminate (cant wait to see the result!) Overall I am very happy with the design (I like to claim credit for that! lol) and happy that our ID can be able to be crazy with us and come up with what we want (and more) $$$ wise... hai... no choice... =P What to do? We plan to stay for long long...so it will be a good investment =)
  15. Thanks Haroldism, Monkey and blushwax!! To Blushwax: The only cabinets will be the one you see. We don't really cook so this will bodes well for us Long time no updates because not much happening. Up till now, we have just only CONFIRMED the 3D drawings... and yes... we are keeping the Black and Red Theme. Everything is going so slowly... cos I think ID is very busy plus HDB also very slow to approve the hacking ZzzZzz Love the alterated 3D Drawings our ID did for us! We also added about $6k+ of upgrading stuff O______O Can faintz... all the costs....
