  1. sorry to off topic...

Anyone know where to find food delivery to home... where we pay a monthly fee and they will deliver the cooked food to ur house...

last time when i stay at Bukit Panjang i used to have those pamplets at my doorstep providing such services....

currently at TPY never see this kind of pamplets le lae..... its very convenient here but i would prefer somthing like home cook food... which got like 2 meat 1 veg and a soup with rice.... which i seriously dun have time to cook....

    Tks !

Hehe.. maybe can ask some good neighbour to cook and you can pay them for home cook food. We tried doing some cooking, but ended up washing tons of plates, bowls and utensils.... eat outside would be cheaper but not so healthy ah.

I know Meowie cooks. Oops.... :P

    Hey Jacky,

Dun look local?? Must be one of those so called "Foreign Talents". Mai tuz liao..... Call Police the next time you see them....Tell them if they don't do something, we will complaint.

We should not let these "FT" foreigners treat our world class neighbourhood like their 3rd world country.

I have seen him too.... without fail will always be there... anyway i feel that the benches placed there is the stupidest idea anyone can come up with... is it for ppl to sit and wait for the lift or for ppl to study or wat is it for? does not seem to be for a reason except for them to sleep for the night in a nice cosy hidden corner of the block.

Erm.... when you say world class neighbourhood, i hope you not saying its Sink-a-poor ah.... its really a disgrace telling ppl we are a world class country when our service sector are worst then some 3rd world country... Recently went for some shopping and it seems that the foreign talents have a better and friendlier service then locals in many areas. One of the worst was at Changi Airport.... when they stare at you like u gonna steal something and start to run, did not even bother to service you if they know u are local. WTF???

When i was in Taiwan, wow.... even the road side shops staff have better service and will even greet you regardless if you wanna purchase any thing from them.... Their service is really very good. Wonder when will locals start to wake up their idea... no wonder jobs are being given to our neighbouring citizens.

Well thats all for the complaint... Hehehe... :D

  2. Hi Alister,

Why dun you ask them to put speed regulating strips instead of humps? Put more strips both before and after the traffic light along Central ah.

    Can give it another shot.

    :D

Thought I would like to share the reply from LTA regarding my suggestion....

    Our Ref: LTA/TM/T44.020.146/2104/1Date : 20.04.09Tel : 63962308Fax : 63961163

    Dear Mr Lau Resident Feedback-

Noise from the motorcycles along Toa Payoh Central Mainroad (C - Toa Payoh Central )FEEDBACK NUMBER: 812080

We refer to your feedback to Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council which has been referred to us. We share your concern regarding the noise generated by speeding vehicles along Toa Payoh Central, especially late at night. However, providing roadhumps to reduce noise pollution may not be effective and may even aggravate the situation. Please allow us to explain further.

Vehicles plying along Toa Payoh Central will need to slow down and then pick-up speed when going over the humps. These actions will generate as much noise, especially for heavy vehicles/ buses as they will generate alot of noise when slowing down (engine braking) and when accelerating. For goods vehicles carrying loose cargo, the sound of rattling cargo will also be a nuisance. With road humps, every vehicle will create noises instead of the occassional speedsters.

In addition, Toa Payoh Central is a bus route. We do not recommend introducing road humps along bus routes as it can be uncomfortable for seated passengers and pose safety hazards for standing passengers. Hence, due to the above reasons, we do not recommend humps to be introduced along Toa Payoh Central.

Nevertheless, we will inform the Traffic Police to step up enforcement actions against speedsters at the said location. We thank you for writing in.

    Yours sincerely

  3. Hi stormcontrol,

    Welcome to blk 79 :D

I am living in a 75sqm home, my reno cost is different as i did custom built for everything including the bed frame and wardrobe. Anyway for a nice and affordable cost, my guess is @$20,000 to S$25,000. If budget, can go all the way to S$15,000. Depends what flooring type you choose, ceiling, lights, any special bed you wanna buy, sofa cost, TV size, etc.

Regarding your household shelter question, I did a feature wall to conceal the whole door as I dislike the look of it.

My bed head is also facing the window while feet is facing the wall, but mine is hacked wall of MBR and rm 2. My bed is in Rm 2 while wardrobe is in MBR with the toilet.

    Happy renovating.

    :D

Actually, i don't know which no. BE i'm under. Don't care lah, the price like dat already. Not as if I can bargain with HDB. =)

That's what I thought too, to combine MBR with Bdrom 2 by knocking down the wall. But wifey complained," Where got z-shaped room 1??!!"

She also say don't want to knock down wall cz after MOP may want to sell it off and upgrade to something bigger (hopefully within blk79 =p The location is **** good man...)

So think leave bdrm 2 as a study and wardrobe area bah. Our budget tight, maybe wont do build in wardrobes but buy ready made ones... But very weird right, imagine you working at the study table then your wife come in to change.... I have no idea how i'm going to remain focused on my work =p

Btw, did any of you guys do any thing to conceal the hsehold shelter door? I think it's very "outstanding" in a very bad way.... =S

yup. Thinking of making a platform against the back wall of the MBR to put our queen sized bed. think the head of the bed put against the window and the feet towards the blank wall. think of doing a little feature wall on the blank wall and mount a TV there. Both me and wifey need to watch TV before we can sleep. Maybe can setup some sort of small dressing table beside the platform hmm...

BTW, those of you who live in the 75sqm one, how much your reno cost ah?

  4. not a newbie but seldom post.. :notti: add some feedback to the prata stall below blke. tried the prata 2 days back. order 1 plain and 1 egg, cost me $3!!! i personal find the curry normal but the prata cannot make it lor.. so tasteless!!!! really not worth. :furious:

Have not tried the prata, but the mix vege rice is not too bad for a decent lunch.

  5. Gong Hei Fatt Choy!

I suspect it's more like condensation than leakage... any water droplets on the trunking boxes in your bedrooms? Maybe the air in the common toilet is much warmer/humid or the water running through the trunking is very very cold, causing the water droplets to form. What temperature did you set for the aircon in the room?

As long as there's no obvious water leakage or dripping water below the trunking along the room then should be quite safe... just condensation.

    hmm...

    Happy "牛" (Niu) Year 2009!

I think by right it is not suppose to have condensation even though you are using a freezer in your room. The "sponge" covering the aircon piping should have resistance against the condensations forming while ur freezer is switched on.

Tension, do you switch on your fan while ur "freezer" is on? If you do, try not to ah. Tats a suggestion from my aircon installer.

    :dancingqueen:

  6. Dear Neighbours...

Feeling frustrated with the illegally parking situation of motorcycles beside BLK 177 and the inaction of our local enforcement agencies, here's my contribution to STOMP............

I hope the media attention will get HDB and Toa Payoh NPC to take immediate preventive actions soon....

"I almost got ran down by this biker at Toa Payoh Central" - under Motoring Goondus

    http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singapor...id=51351#rating

Yeah.... same same. I was almost hit while walking on the pavement and the worse of it is they still can horn at me.... KNN! Was so furious, wanted to report to the police but after reading ur post I guess the mata can do nuts about it but play "Tai Chi" again.

    :furious:

  7. I have my WIW from Closet Design built just beside the toilet similar to the layout above with Laminate flooring and Ventilation fan in the toilet. For the past 6 months there is no problems except Booklice found in the WIW due to the moisture, so i added a few of those cheap non electrical dehumidifier's around the WIW to see how it will help.

Most important is to always open your sliding door when you are done and when you are out of the house to air the WIW, and always on the ventilation fan during and after ur bath for about 30mins before switching it off to remove as much moisture as possible. DO NOT close the toilet door to prevent moisture, ur toilet will stink when you wanna open the door and use it.

I attached a few pictures for u to see, may not help much too.

  8. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all neighbours as you can see, I am new to the neighbourhood having just moved in.

Talking about Xmas, to all neighbours with children, elderly folks or pregnant wives. Please be very careful when using the pedestrian walkway beside BLK 177, outside the furniture shop on the way to and fro the MRT / interchange. I was nearly run down by an idiotic motorcyclist on Xmas evening while walking back to Blk 79C. :furious: He was riding very fast on the pedestrian pavement and this made me very furious and I shouted at him to tell him to get off the pavement. The motorcyclist not only did not apologize, he challenged me to report him. Frustrated, I called the TPY NPC and feedback to the officer on the other end about this incident and the numerous motorbikes parked illegally there…..

The officer had the cheek to ask me to take pictures of the illegally parked motorcycles and email to Traffic police myself. This remark really pissed me off and I asked the officer sarcastically if he wanted to give me his month end salary since I was doing the police work for him. 8| I told him whether he knew that the problem poses a great danger to residents and pedestrians like myself and asked him whether they would wait till someone gets killed before they would act. Trying to get me off the phone fast, he said he would dispatch a patrol car down to take enforcement action on the motorbikes park illegally (up to 10).

As I needed to go down to popular to get something, I went back down towards the interchange after 20 mins. Guess what, the police never showed up. WTF…

Only then did I notice the full extend of the illegal parking problems by inconsiderate motorist….. almost everyday after that, I would notice at least 10 or more motorcycles parking at the pavement illegally and numerous zipping in and out on the pavement. Isn’t the pedestrian pavement supposed for only pedestrian? I’m wondering why HDB did not install barriers to prevent motorcycles from riding onto the pavement when it is so obvious so many people uses that pavement and why the police from TPY NPC is so lax in their enforcement on this problematic and dangerous area. :furious:

Does anyone know who or which department I should write to to get the problem rectified for the sake of all the children and elderly using that particular pavement?

The mentality of our local Matas are if nobody is injured, please DIY and write in to the other relevant authorities which will in-turn "Tai Chi" with u. If someone is injured and not too serious, please call 995 and wait for them to come, if someone is injured seriously or dead then call the Matas. Otherwise we juz got to be extra careful and look left and right whenever you walk on pavements, crossing the traffic lights or especially zebra crossing.

  9. Thanks for the reply, Dracula.

Yup, did request for early collection of keys on the selection day in Nov. That's why able to collect end of this month. Or else it'll take 3-4 mths to process, according to the HDB officers (issit true?).

Any thing that I must take note of during/after collection of keys?

The very most important thing is that if you have any CPF grants from them, take note that you need to be legally married before they will release the keys to you. Otherwise you will be making an empty trip on that day, if your ROM is anywhere after the key collection day do inform your officer in advance so that they can help in drafting an undertaking letter for you to sign on the day itself.

If no grants, then dun bother about the above.

Other then that, remember you can go earlier then your said appt time to get your keys earlier. It is base on first come first serve to whom ever is earlier unlike the 1st appt. Got to sign alot of "dunno wat is written on the letters" upon collection, like signing for autograph sessions. Hehe...

And welcome to the Free-fallers union block 79. Our motto: "Where everyone comes for a free falling time."

    Hehehe... oops! :notti:

    - Property Tax payment is here again.

    - after rebate, mine is $125 for yr 2009.

    - late payment penalty is 5% after due date.

    :o

Wah! so fast come again? or you never pay for your tax?

    Why got late payment?

The gahmen not enough money after lost in Lahmen Blooders ah..... blood suckers!

    :furious:

I'm at B, 90sqm!!! I was there yesterday to recce the place again =P... somehow I just find the void deck areas esp near the lift abit dark and ulu (at 6 plus in the evening before the lights on)...

How is the safety here in TPY central 79? From far the flats look okay.. when one enters, realize its abit overwhelming... ceilings high and all... I abit scared leh if next time go home alone ~~

Try to go home after 7.30pm should be alright. Sometimes the power will trip for the lobby area during night time, so do prepare for a dark feeling once in a while, there will still be minimal lights there.

Always look left and right and back and the stairways before walking towards your unit and opening the doors for precautions during the day and night.

Welcome to the 79 neighbourhood soon to be neighbour!

    :dancingqueen:

  11. Hi, unfortunately my friends are the one who told me not to go to theirs as their experience with them had not been pleasant. Seems like 8/10 of these BS are crooks. hahaha.

The wedding pics are a little significant for me (in a way) as my mum and dad did not had theirs when they were married. So they swear that I must have something to remember lor. I am more keen on the outdoor shoots thou.

Hi Ami, thanks for your reply. You mean there are wedding packages at $1K and below? And you need to top up soooooooooo much for additional? Faint sia. I am prepared to folk out 3.5K for the basic like studio/indoor/outdoor shoots and X amount of photos. The provision of gowns and make-up are essential of course. Will it be possible to share your pictures? Is it in your below mentioned blogs? Cheers and TIA.

Hi, our BS is Bridal Concept and the package starts from $3288 with everything u need from gowns, to MUA, to wedding cars. Their overall service was good and photography is fantastic. You can pop by and discuss with them, my photos is still in the process of laying out so am not able to show it to you.

    Anyway congrats and happy hunting

  12. Hey Dracula,

    - wow, u sell TV part-time? :dribble:

    - can i ask u 2 tack along wen i go buy tv?

    - think u explain more in-depth than e salesperson at Courts or Best Denki. :horse:

    - wat abt Philips? Heard its much cheaper but e yrly sales is in sept. :o

    :dunno:

    Hey Jacky,

I only did some homework before deciding on the suitable tv ah.

Anyway the few I would not personally recommend strongly is Philips, Sharp, Panasonic. But if you like the colors and vibrancy then just get it.

    :notti:

  13. - any other wk, e TPY Ctrl Amphitheatre sure got some functions in 1 form or another.

    - now econ dn, more job loses, more ppl got free time, more ppl klkk, more ppl looking 4 'things' 2 do.

    - got functions, ppl got work 2 do, relak ppl got better times 2 pass... :sport-smiley-003:

    - another noisy wkend 4 mi liao... :o

    - e pte development at lor 1A had started work.

    - e DBSS site at lor 1A had started 2 fence up olso. Judging frm e 'angle' & 'location' & 'height' of e yet-2b-built new flats, i think e magnificent view of Macritchie Reservoir frm blk 79 wil b blocked. :~

    - some stalls at e Foodpark had since changed tenants. Mayb business was not sustainable.

    - evening peak hrs olso not s crowded s b4, esp wkdays.

    - btw, those neighbours using Samsung LCD TV, got any comments?

    - i find e Samsung LCD TV not s clear & sharp interms of pixel clarity s compare 2 Sony lei. :dunno:

    :disturb:

Haha... too bad I cannot even see macritchie from my place loh, only can see the roof of the block at the back.

I using samsung LCD series 4 ah, overall not too bad ah. It actually depends on what series and model you are comparing Samsung with Sony, to me the only difference I can visually notice is the color vibrancy when watching DVD. If watching TV only, it is all the same....

If you compare a HD ready with a Full HDTV then the difference in resolution would be 720dpi and 1080dpi, unless you are watching HDTV programmes or Blu-ray disc the difference will not be that great. Another thing to notice is the bigger the TV, the more the pixels will be interpolated and stretched accordingly, thats why you will see the blurrness in certain areas of the TV programme.

If you compare directly a 32 inch LCD with a 40 inch LCD side by side playing the same TV programme, you will then notice that the 32 inch is much sharper and clearer (even the subtitles below).

Also take note of LCD vs Plasma, there is a difference in electrical consumption and heat emitted from the TV (including harmful UV's).

    Good luck in TV hunting...

Hope I did not get any of the explanation wrongly :notti:

  14. i have a valid HLE...it expires on jan 16.

i need to redo a new one cos i have some changes in it.

wife started to work ... need to add her details too to enhance the HLE.

Can i submit just 1 mth payslip and her appointment letter together with one cos i am afraid it might get rejected ?

    help me solve in this...

I think you better call HDB officer to check on this, as it involves a case by case basis on your situation. New job for the both of you would be a little more complicating and they may see your 2-3 years of CPF contribution for an average monthly sum for calculation of your loan.

  15. You can get a normal sized one from Spotlight at Plaza Sing, I just got mine from them few days ago.

Total is about S$100 to S$140 (+/-) each

DO take note that for very soft feeling, 2 bean fillings is enough.

For normal feeling, 3 bean fillings is enough.

For hard feeling, 4 bean fillings is maximum.

    Hope it helps :notti:
