There should not be any such contractor. These are not generic equipments or materials like cement, bricks & the likes.

This is the gist of free market economy. If you invent or is a manufacturer of something proprietary, you can basically charge anything & be rich!!!

    Think logically!!

A branded equipment usually has proprietary parts made by that particular brand.

If there indeed were third party contractor, how would these company be able to earn any profit if they can only buy the parts from the brand.

It is also likely the schematics are proprietary & you risk messing up the system, along with any software safety features, which renders the lift unsafe to use.

This is applicable as with all mechanical equipment.

Even if there are such "authorized" contractor, the price; logically, would not deviates a lot.

Think PROPRIETARY then you'll hopefully understand.

Also, let this be a fair warning to all future potential lift owner. Don't just look at the installation cost & buy the cheapest. Ask about the maintenance aspects.

Your posts always sound like lecturing.

    hi guys,

was wondering if anyone has considered or implemented a mezzanine floor before?

it will compress the height of the rooms a fair bit which i think we can still accept (living room down to 3.1m) but our only concern is car porch will be dropped to 3.1m as well which will inhibit light and lack of spaciousness feel. any thoughts?

I had one, but my living room height is 5.6m. My mezzanine and below it is about 2.6m.

What kind of defects should we look out for in a project like that?

Common ones like cracked tiles, uneven paint, scratches on timber flooring, dirty and stained glass railing. Many more, it will surface one by one when you have moved in. Good thing is main con is responsive whenever I feedback to them, the hassle is got to clean up everytime when they rectify it.

  4. Faced with a small hiccup but nevertheless all settled and moved in after some delay. Expect defects here and there, its a hassle whenever workers come and rectify it. It will take sometime for some other defects to surface especially when I rushed to move in and didn't really inspect the property properly.

Meantime had to bare with it and enjoy my new hobby, happy gardening.

    Hi all,

My land 300sqm has a very slight split level on the ground floor, a 40cm step up from front to back of house.  The ceiling height is 3.2m at the front vs 2.8m at the back. I'm considering doing A&A and leveling the entire floor. Has anyone done this before and have an approximation of the cost? My intention is to utilize the existing structure ceiling height of 3.2m all the way on the ground floor.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

That means your ceiling height would be 2.8m after leveling, that's very low.

When my QP submitted for mine previously, we got a reply immediately the next day with written directions. Subsequent submission took more than 1 week as the BCA officer who processed our application had to route it up to the superior for approval for issue of TOP

hope your case is due to waiting for TOP approval hence the no updates.

Hopefully no news is good news for my case. Thanks Snoozee

still waiting for TOP? BCA requires all agencies to give clearance before issuing TOP. Also because of COVID-19 situation, BCA doesn't really go down to perform physical inspection. They just get the QP to take a lot of photos and submit to them and do self-declaration. if agencies all cleared and everything submitted to BCA (without issues), should be able to get TOP in about 1 week or so after submission to BCA.

Yes, QP has submitted the photographs last week, still no news yet.
