  1. A 2½-storey detached house at 17 Coral Island, in Sentosa Cove in District 4, will be put up for auction on May 22 with a guide price of $11.3 million ($1,495 psf). The property has been available for sale since last year, with an initial guide price of $$11.5 million, shares Joy Tan, head of auction and sales at Edmund Tie and Co (ET&Co), which is marketing the property. Sitting on a rectangular plot of 7,557 sq ft, with a frontage of about 12.7 metres wide, the property has four bedrooms and a helper’s room. The home has a north-south orientation, with views of the waterway, offering a tranquil environment for its residents, says Tan. The home also comes with a swimming pool, private yacht berth, jacuzzi and barbeque pit, and the car porch can fit three to four luxury cars, she adds. https://www.edgeprop.sg/property-news/detached-house-coral-island-going-113-mil
  2. Japanese property developer, Kajima Development and Singapore Press Holdings sold 70 units at The Woodleigh Residences as at 10pm on Sunday, May 12. “We are very pleased with the enthusiastic response received,” says Kazunori Ichihashi, project director of Kajima Development. “The sales gallery opened to an invite-only event on the evenings of Wednesday (May 8 and 9), an industry first, and saw many guests vying for their preferred units in the ballot held on Saturday (May 11) morning.” Many units sold were two- and three-bedroom units along with three four-bedroom apartments that achieved $2,331 psf. The majority of the buyers are locals who live across various parts of Singapore. https://www.edgeprop.sg/property-news/seventy-units-sold-woodleigh-residences
  3. Globe-trotting British designer Katharine Pooley talks about how her move into luxury interior design was sparked in Singapore, and how her years in banking gave her the discipline and skills to build an international business. (Apr 15): Award-winning British designer Katharine Pooley has travelled to almost every country on the planet. She has a thirst for adventure while on holiday, having crossed the Sahara on horseback and ridden a dog-sled to the North Pole. However, it is tiny Singapore, where she lived for three years, that is among her favourite places in the world. Pooley loves the city state’s greenery and gastronomy, but what makes it special is the fact that it was here that she made the leap from banking to interior design (ID). Since then, she has built up a portfolio that ranges from villas in the Middle East to a boutique hotel in China. Her client list includes the super rich and celebrities such as Janet Jackson and Richard Branson. Today, Pooley runs a 47-strong design studio out of London but still travels extensively as she has no less than 42 projects at the moment, mostly in locations far from the UK such as Qatar and Hong Kong. She was in Singapore at end-March as part of a working visit in Asia that included Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Shanghai. https://www.edgeprop.sg/property-news/travel-inspired-design
  4. This is the third consecutive quarterly decline in HDB resale prices, but the cumulative decrease over the past nine months is about 0.5%, lower than the 0.8% fall that was recorded just in 1Q2018, says Christine Sun, head of research and consultancy at OrangeTee & Tie. “This may indicate that HDB resale prices have largely stabilised and buying sentiment has remained resilient.” As close to 30,000 HDB and Design, Build and Sell Scheme (DBSS) flats reach their Minimum Occupancy Period (MOP) this year, coupled with fewer Build-To-Order (BTO) flats coming onto the market, “we can expect demand to be invigorated in the next three quarters of 2019”, says Ismail Gafoor, CEO of PropNex Realty. “Furthermore, without the cash over value (COV), HDB resale flats will continue to serve as a desirable option as a matrimonial home for newly-wed couples.” https://www.edgeprop.sg/property-news/hdb-resale-prices-fall-03-third-consecutive-decline
