  1. i struck arts and thots off my list when this guy frm A&T De**k did not bother to revert. We sat thru for 30-40min with him during a exhibition held in expo. we were also rather excited and felt good with his service.

maybe we duno the correct budget for our requirements cuz we still newbie back then. but we feel shld at least reply or tell me on the spot that its not possible lah.. i even email to ask him for status of quote but no reply. wait and wait. so...self-elimination there.

tink u can search thru renotalk and sgbride for arts n thots to see if this ID has got good reviews.

its not really advisable to sign up with one that is pushy when u are unsure. better get few more quotes to compare then commit.

  2. That bit is for excess water to flow off. For Poh Joo's sinks, there will a hose that is connected to the opening.

Agreed, I think Poh Joo's quality is pretty assured since they have been around for a long time.

Ooohh..but why do we still need the holes since it will flow off from the bottom sink?

Is it to prevent overflowing of water in the sink?

  3. i think u can consider trying poh joo since they can give discounts and alot of ppl also agree. they have quite a number of sink selection. Go to the bigger n newer store that doesnt close on sunday.

hoe kee also have good selection but no discount. unless u buy alot. and discount also like $10 dollar oni..

sim siang choon i find the sinks not very deep dish type leh..

adamas - not very ex $260+. got some deep dish type too. duno abt quality though..

anyone know why some of the sinks has got what seemed like vent openings at the sides?

  4. 1 set mean one hinge and one soft closing mechanism.

i buy and install myself... :o

    yup..drawer uses runner.

They are not called hinges. If i am not wrong, it is hydraulic plunger.

Frm what i think there shouldn't be extra charges for installing BLUM. Because BLUM hinges are just like normal hinges. And the soft closing mechanism is just a clip on to the hinge.

Extra info..BLUM is one of the cheapest option. The better ones are Hafele where the soft closing mechanism are incorporate together with the hinges. :yamseng:

    ooh now i know..

means if the clip on spoilt can buy another one to replace. but if the whole hinge spoilt gotta change the whole thing rite?

my ID told me its ard $10+ per set. or a pair i cant rem..still waiting for him to quote me then i see if i wanna do all softshut or take afew. i think for drawers runner i will prefer a much stronger one. cuz i have 2 big drawers set. my bf told me ikea got sell those soft shut hinge too? maybe can buy there also.

any comment on ikea stuff? :)

  5. Hi all,

If you call up BLUM, they will tell you their authorised seller is at Upper Bukit Timah Road(Near Ten Mile Junction), Kiang Sing Hong Hardware. I got my hinges plus soft closing(1 set) for ard $3.00.

My ID wanted to charge me $16 for one set of BLUM Hinges. But i refused to be a carrot. However i do understand that they do include installation charges. But the amount is just too muCh..

can i know 1 set means what? both side? so did u buy urself and get the ID to install FOC for u?

btw, doors that open and close is hinge. so drawers type is runner?

what abt those hydralic type like what hihihi has posted? are those called hinges?

  6. For clear glass doors between the Kitchen and Living, it is best to put some opaque design stickers or something to avoid someone smacking into it :)

hee u mean even one big stripe in the middle also wil have people smack into the door? :P

then i must research more designs now.

  7. sealy bed really very comfy and good! I bought the polarville, plush n comfy, can't wait to sleep on it!

lxiul, was told backsaver series doesn't come with posturepedic coil.

wow.. i just went thru the sealy website then found out it is true. it says only triple offset coils and no posturepedic coil for durability.

that sales guy didnt tell us the bed we chose doesnt have the Posturepedic Innerspring. 8|

we went according to our comfort and even more attracted to the price cuz its much cheaper than apollo.

felt equally comfy.. hmm...we slpt on too many beds that day cant really tell one apart frm another.

hopefully it can still last us well for 10yrs. :yamseng:

    how much was ur polarville?

  8. anyone any comment on ariston oven? the Fz61.1X or FB51.2X ? after discount is 749 and 629 respectively now got some promo i think.

i read alot of review brandt ovens are good and reasonably priced but i cant seem to find alot of place displaying the ovens or catalogs. the one harvey normal display is ex! any recommendation which brandt model is good?

me kinda newbie to oven but very interesting to start baking/roasting/grilling etc. so i was thinking of a averagely good oven. can u guys recommend?

    wat abt techno/uno/technogas/turbo/rinnai ovens?

  9. I just bough a Sealy Appollo from Harvey Noram. 1.7K after disount. Shiok man, very comfy.

we almost wanted to get apollo at millenia harvey norman too! but it wasnt 1.7K leh.. over the weekend it was $1991. how come ur offer so good?

in the end we settled for heritage backsaver for $1693 with 8%($135) gift voucher rebate at courts.

felt nice too! shouldav try bargaining for bolster too..hee..

  10. my quote for glass door already include sandblast design. Just that he few wks ago then tell me he is gg to use sticker designs instead. so now i duno where to find nice designs so that he can make for me..

his design is to split the door into 3 big sections.big stripee across the centre of the sliding door and 2 stripes one at the top and one at bottom of the fix panel. so when door is open the whole piece looks frosted.

  11. cuz i actually saw some defects on the floor tiles during reno which i had overlooked. so now thinkin of asking for spare tiles to get my contractor help me fix. or i can always can HDB back to fix.

u mean i must pay>? wow.. i always tot they can give me some spare tiles. hee..

which leads me to another question. i just removed the plastic hooks that connect pvc pipings in toilets. i'm going to replace my pipings to stainless steel. not replacing any toilet tiles.

So now i see many ugly holes in the toilet wall tiles. normally wat would it done to it?

So should my contractor be take up the fixing/beautifing and costs? or should i get free tiles? duno if my contractor still able to buy the tiles. the tiles pattern is 6yr old liao.

  12. ya at first i got it was quite cheap to choose sticker..

even though me no kids now..hee..but after weighing on pros of maintenance on sticker..maybe i may go for it afterall.

i'll ask to paste sticker on the outside door. inside exposed more to oil and grime. smooth surface should be easier to wipe and clean.

    thanks for ur advice! :)

  13. hi hi me trying to find out what are the pros and cons and maintenance of doing sandblast sliding door for kitchen.

my ID told me he'll be using frosted sticker instead of actual sandblast as he said its easier to wipe.

which i also not sure why..is it becuz sandblast one side is rough and dirt sticks like crazy?

but one thing he mention which i agree was i can change design if i dun like next time as the sticker can remove.unlike sandblast which is permanent. which quite true...

can you guys share with me how is the maintenance of ur glass doors?

  14. fridge_domo.jpg

Yep, the kerb is not necessary. As mentioned above, some people like the kitchen area to be demarcated with a kerb but I think that's quite old-fashioned? The above pic is taken from my kitchen out to the main area. There is a glass door behind the wall (which you can see slightly). No kerb :sport-smiley-003:

hee yes yes i also think so..and further more i dun like to kick kerb.its not a drop down level for my house.so i like to level it. my ID say no problem can remove. :D

  15. i also think there might be chance it wont be level cuz different tiles. but i dun really mind it cuz the kerb seem to be an even more obvious bump on the floor then any unevenness.

If its required for the fix panel then its fine with me but must get that part that i walk in and out removed and retiled cuz me dun really like the feel. also the reason why i want to do top sliding track mah.. so shldnt have any kerb..

i think i wont be splashing water in the kitchen to wash hee.. my fridge and washing machine is not sitting on kerb so cannot do that at all.

gotta tell my ID hee.. thanks for all the advices!
