  1. Hi all, My MIL suggested the following sequence to me (the groom) due to the time constraint on the actual day. 1. Go to my wife's house, 2. me and the wife serve tea to her and the dad-in-law and elders 3. bring the bride home to my place to serve tea to my mom and my elders. 4. then proceed to temple If I am not mistaken, is the normal sequence 1-3-2-4? Is the one suggested my MIL commonly done as in 1-2-3-4? I do not want to offend my mom by suggesting it to my mom if not common. Rather offend the MIL. Touchy issue. . Please advise. Thanks. Vic
  2. Hi, is this after the legal subsidy or before. i.e. Actual amount paid = $1150+$800- Legal subsidy = less than $1950? Thanks.
  3. We just got a bank loan from one of the local banks to buy a re-sale HBD bank. We will use the lawyer from the bank's panel of lawyers. 1. We were told by the law firm that the lawyer will act for us in both (1) Bank loan- for sure, (2) HDB Conveyancing- is this necessary? We were told that both (1) and (2) ae 'packaged' and cannot be separated. Correct statement? HDB told me they can also act for us instead of using lawyer on the Conveyancing. I will call HDB again to reconfirm. I am confused man! 2. Approximately how much will the fees be? We were quoted that the fees will be about 2.5K less 500 for our legal subsidy. So it's about 2k. Excuding the stamp fees, etc, etc. Can someone please share breakdown of fees is you have info? Is 2k a bit high? Thanks and regards.
  4. Since we wanted to know more, did some websurfing, and found: http://astro.unl.edu/naap/motion3/animations/sunmotions.swf Good to see how the sun would move, at different times of the day and different times of the year. Can imagine being in the room and looking at the sun. . .
  5. Hi all, Thanks for the replies. For an update: I did do a quick poll among friends, the general consensus is that it'll be hotter than a N-S house. Most of them are surprised that we are considering a E-W flat- hotter, difficult to re-sell, higher electricity bills etc. But the up-side are: 1. house overall should be brighter, 2. Good for gardening, 3. rooms should be less musty due to sunlight penetrating, 4. house is warmer (for those who like warm houses). Flimflam- you are right about staying somewhere else for the cooler weather. But some temperate countries are really too cold in the winter. I prefer warmer to cold. Because with heaters in the winter there are too many cold spots that can be uncomfortable. Any forum members have long term experience in staying in E-W house would like to share experience?
  6. Hello, All We are looking to buy a HBD apartment where 1 common room and the living room faces the west. It will definately see the setting sun. Beautiful sunset aside, will it be very, very hot in the evening? It is an old style flat 20+ years old, so probably it does not have the new HDB insulation, etc. Can members please share their (hot) experience, please? To buy or not to buy- will we fry. . . ?? So
