  1. Guys, I just have another serious problem. There are bubbles of paint formed near the floor skirting. I touched and found them to be damp. Does anyone here has any issues on damp walls or bubbles formed near the floor skirting? I need to gather as much info as possible and get Jovi to get the "specialists" to my unit to check.
  2. I just called Jovi to arrange for the bomb shelter guy to come this Sat & she said OK. Can post the pic of your after welding hinges?
  3. Your appt to repair the bomb shelter rubber still on Friday? Mine repaired a portion of it but now another portion torn again by itself this morning. Pretty strange.....cos yesterday afternoon I see still ok....
  4. I think there is one @ Bedok Central near the Poh Heng Jewellery & NTUC, but using Konica paper
  5. Guys, any idea what's the difference between a composite audio cable and a composite video cable? I need to buy 1 composite cable for my HTS but unsure which to buy. Pls advise. Thanks.
  6. The blocks are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 19, 20, & 21. It's just across the main road. I'm staying at Block 2 now. Well, fire-proof door is only against fire mah, not against force or impact.
  7. I would prefer it to be like my current place just across the road whereby only pple with access card can enter the HDB block. Of cos, visitors can call upstairs for us to grant them access. Also got CCTV too. Well, if this is a common problem, then it should be a public good instead.
  8. If you just latch up the top slots, it's as good as you don't latch up any slots at all. You can easily pull out the portion of the door connected to the'bottom hinge'. Try looking at your door hinges & you will know what I meant.
  9. Yup, both me & my wife saw. Just very simple to whack the studs. But I do not know my strength is as powerful as Mr Kor. Ha Ha. Anyway I'll give Jovi a call tomorrow to see if I can help her out in any ways lor.
  10. I think becos they are leaving on 17th, that's why they are taking their own sweet time lor. Cos beyond 17th, no longer their problem liao mah....
  11. Good idea...but who wana sacrifice their hinges?
  12. No no...the 2 ends do not join to one another at all. Put it this way, the bottom stud is just like a stopper. Ha Ha.....ask him also if can reimburse us who had paid for the welding service by Mr Kor.....
  13. Managed to google up some pics of the welding by Mr Kor, but the pictures of the hinges is not exactly the same as our LGs. Before Welding After Welding After Welding & Painting Hope it's good enough to explain how the Mr Kor's version works. LG not only got flasher...heard from my friend who is staying a few floors above me that she was "touched" in the butt. Gals got to really be careful and we really got to help one another to catch the robbers, flashers, & molesters.
  14. AIG & NTUC Income as another form of fire insurance which covers theft too, but up to $50K I think. However, if burglary lose about $22K of stuffs....hmm....we have a very rich neighbour....Ha Ha. Anyway, I just called Jovi too. However, she "acts" blur when I ask her if she is providing the welding service. Anyway, she explained that the welding by her is just to "reinforce" the existing bottom stud to the hinge. Perhaps Darcbleu can take some pictures of how that is being done than we can compare whether it is the same process or theory as that Mr Kor. Believe it or not, Jovi said the few robbers actually saw away the gates to break into the house. For me, I find it hard to believe.
  15. Both opened & also closed. The gate is closed wen he demonstrate how to whack off the bottom stud of my choice. Subsequently, the remaining opened. I think I know what you wana ask. The gate provided by the HDB is supposed to have interlocking slots which people cannot open the gate even though they are locked. These interlock slots are the silver latches @ the side of the gates. With these 2 slots locked (1 to the top of the metal gate frame & 1 to your floor tile or kerb), even if the hinges are whacked, they prevent the gate from being pulled out of the frame. If there 2 slots are not locked, once the hinges are whacked, even an Abloy lock cannot prevent the gate from being pulled out of the frame. As for how the hinges are being whacked, it's very simple. If you can remember the 2 round marble size metal thing at the hinges, the top round is the longer stud, & the bottom round is the shorter stud. You just need to use your hammer to knock at 45 degrees at the bottom stud & it will drop off immediately. Thereafter, you can just pull the longer stud out of the hinge. As for how Mr Kor's welding does the magic, a long bolt is replacing the longer stud & the nut replaces the bottom stud. Only difference now is that the nut is screwed upwards by the screw threads of the long bolt. After it reaches the maximum of the hinges & cannot be screwed further upwards, the nut is being welded to the bolt, 'melting' the two separate items into one. Hope it's not too technical for you all. I'll try to take pictures later this evening when I drop by my place. Else, hope someone else can post the pics of the before & after of the hinges.
  16. Last Sat afternoon I heard that my Indian neighbour complained and called police to come when my sub-con was smoking outside my door while waiting for me to come. I feel so bad for my sub-con. On the other contrary, I caught him playing cricket ball with his son last Friday night as well his son likes to throw a lot of his big toys outside the common area of our house. Looks like I got an "irritating" neighbour who likes to complain about others & not leading by example himself. Think I better watch my back (or rather my house!)....Ha Ha Ha!!!
  17. Wah...if Jovi is providing the welding service and is the same as that Mr Kor, then I shld have waited......sob sob.....
  18. I was thinking.....will there be a chance that even the hinges are welded, it still does not prevent burglars from breaking the hinges & into the house......
  19. The existing joints cannot be welded. Cos one end is just a stud blocking the hole, and the other one is a longer stud connecting the 2 hinges internally. I don't even think you can weld the 2 studs to the hinges. As for the Mr Kor's version, it uses a bolt and nut system whereby the nut is screwed into the long bolt and then it is welded together. Of cos unless you can find the exact size & length of the bolt and nut for our hinges, than you can "try" welding them together. My suggestion is for you to try Sungei Road area to source for the bolts and nuts which I would expect probably $2 or lesser per set. Hope that helps.
  20. He also told me the same story too on Sat. But he charge me $20/joint.
  21. ****!!!! I was cheated!!!! Actually, if the Princess wasn't so outdated and backward, I would have seen all my late nights there. But since they are so backward and the seats are so uncomfortable, I might as well make my ticket price more worth it right?
  22. Total Reno amount is $37K (including 1 System 3) + $1.3K (Electrical), excluding lightings and non-built-in items and electrical appliances. I'm having a 4 room 94sqm. Not too sure about the overlaying cost, but kitchen & bomb shelter I only overlaid the floor. Entertainment room is becos thinking to use my wife's current TV console, sofa, & 29 inch TV till spoilt then throw away. Moreover, cannot think of what to do with the spare room now anyway too mah.....Also got 2 TVs in he house then don't have to fight over it lor....hee hee
  23. IKEA also custom-made curtains too. My Service Yard Washing Machine kerb My MBR toilet Cabinet My Built-in Wardrobe in MBR My Study Room with Built-in book cabinets (left), Custom-made Study table (Centre) and Built-in L-shaped wardrobe (right) My Pending Entertainment Room
  24. I notice that one of the curtain seller that come to our place has a showroom @ Telok Kurau, near to Hotel 81 Changi. Not too sure if it's the same one. For me, I chose to use IKEA roller blinds (partial block) due to low replacement cost. Moreover, the quality is about the same as those sold by the curtain makers but pice much cheaper. Only thing is you have to drill yourself or get someone to drill for me. If you are looking into DIY drilling, PM or MSN me and I will let you know more about my method.
  25. Anybody got any solution for torn bomb shelter door rubber gasket, as in where to buy replacement and how much? My painters painted the door frame and think they forgot to let the frame to be completely dry before they close the door and hence the rubber gasket got stucked to the door frame and was torn in the process.
