How do you set up affiliate marketing?

I've got an App that has a premium/subscription section. I'm hoping to work with Influencers to promote it and hopefully increase revenue. The 2 options I seem to have are

1: Pay them a set fee to post about the App

 

Or

 

2: Have them share a link and give them a % of the resulting subscriptions.

 

If I was going for the 2nd option, how do I go about setting it up? Is there a software to track everything? Can it be done externally or do I need to add a plugin to the App?

If anybody has any experience of this at all (I'm completely new to it so any knowledge much appreciated!) I'd love to hear it.

I’ve been in a similar spot, and getting a fresh outside view helped me get unstuck. I ended up working with a marketing agency that handled everything from SEO tweaks to tightening up my overall strategy, and the mix of consulting and hands-on fixes made a big difference for me.
