Appreciate advice/ experience on following issues related to false ceilings

1. Is it possible to construct a false ceiling of 5 inches height? Will most of the modern day lights & holders fit in 5 inches height?

2. Over the period, will gaps form between the false ceiling and the light fittings/ fan rod etc?

2. Has anyone experienced insects or lizards creeping into the gaps between light fitting or the fan rod? Or is it not an issue to be worried about?
