Renovation Payment Advise

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Can anyone advise on renovation payment:

e.g 10% deposit

40% completion wet work ( What does it mean? )

40% Material Delivery

10% after 2 weeks after reno.

Base on the sequence payment it seems like 90% has already paid up but has yet to see the workmanship and quality. Hope someone can advise on how to deal with the Sale or ID?

Hi,

Sounds like installment and paying loanshark

Renovation usually takes 5-6 weeks, it's like paying 20% per week for the interest... lol

Important thing is that you are comfortable with your ID/contractor then you will feel comfortable letting him have the money.

Most important is that you should hold a sum of money (eg 10%) until you are satisfied with everything, but not two weeks after renovation.

What if you are not happy with the rectification even after two weeks?

it sometimes relies on the confidence between you and your contractor. If through recommendations, most of them will keep to they standards and promises because they also dont want to tarnish their reputations. Advertisement thru mouth is far more stronger than thru any other source.Payment wise i believe that you pay them good, they will work better, sometimes may also do extra without charging, ( my carpenter/contractor like that lor, :P), thanks to tplittey recommendation, he is really accomdating like you say... I agreed that there are also people that spoilt the reputation, so cannot blam owner like us so wary of contractors
