Renovation Budget

Hi everyone!

Hubby and I will be going to engage an ID (still figuring out the list of firms to meet up...) to renovate our new 4-rm hdb flat. The last time (also our first time) talking to an ID, he kept asking us to "increase your budget a little higher, so that I can do more for you". However, as a first timer (and 1st time talking to an ID), we do not know how much higher we should go.. So we just laughed it off.

Went home, did more research, we saw that some ppl can do their reno at $20K+ for a simple renovation work to a more designer style renovation work at $35k+. So I was just pondering, how many ppl has exceeded their renovation budget (i would think most of us here would have exceeded though) and how badly is the unexpected damage?

I understand that the budget/price varies from each individual due to the different scope of works involved in each renovation, but am juz curious Dun wanna to too much when i start receiving quotations. hee
