Repair False Ceiling Light Box

Recommended Posts

Pardon me for this newbie qn.

Basically i tried to open the light box cover to change a bulb but discovered that the cover is partly silicone glued to the false ceiling. I had to use a screw driver to try and force open the cover and to my dismay the whole light box came loose (not falling out but dropped down slightly). My question is how do i secure back the light box? Silicone? If so which type?

The light box is still pretty secured at this moment, i am more worried about the whole thing just falling down, how are these light boxes usually secured to the false ceiling?

Thanks for the reply siddle.

I think i have used the wrong description, did a search on google and it is call downlight (not light box, pardon me on that).

It is one of my downlights coming loose, everything else is fine and i can still switch it on and off. Mine is those square type downlights, does anyone know how are these downlights normally secured to the ceiling? Is it with screws, latches at the sides or something else?
