System 4 For A New 5 Room Flat Or System 3 Plus 1 Single Unit?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have gotten my new 5 Room flat in Punggol.

Currently, i am looking at either (1) a system 4 or (2) a system 3 plus 1 single unit.

Key considerations are:

MBR highest usage. 2 other rooms, expected light usage.

Biggest area is Living room which included the 5th area (Studying room) but also expected light usage. Main concern is the area.

Thus, want to know on which type of system will be better.

Appreciate any advice!

Thanks and regard.

I would suggest getting a bigger single split unit for your living room and a system 3 for all your rooms. You can ask your installer to configure a higher BTU for your MBR in your system 3. As your living room is huge...getting a system 4 would surely defeat your purpose of installing air con in your living room. This is my configuration currently in my 4 room flat and the living room is really cooling when turn on. Just my 2 cents advise.

Depends on how many people living in your house.

My case is a 115sqm 5 room flat, also dining merge with living room.

I have 2 person living in house. I chose system 4, because what are the chances that i use 2 bedrooms and living room air-con at the same time. At most, i only use MBR and Living room together, which is 9k + 18k respectively. Total 27k which is ok for a 28k BTU system 4 aircon.

Unless if i have frequent usage of 2 bedrooms and 1 living room together, then i need 3+1, because 9k +9k + 18k > my 28k BTU system 4, which will cause my aircon to overwork.

Do not forget that installing a split single unit got its cons, like having to install additional power point to my aircon bay, which is extra $$ and the trunking is ugly. (Although i can hide in false ceiling)

Also the cost of having 3+1 is more expensive then a system 4.

PS. I do not on aircon all the time when i am at home. I only on MBR at night for sleeping and occasional living room/guest room for guest/s. Must save electricity haha

Hi all, Heard this before and don't know whether is true anot? If you seldom turn on your living hall aircon , a 3+1 system will be able to save more electrical bills . This is because when you just turn on your bed room aircon, you will be running on a system 3 compressor whereas if you are using a system 4 , by turning on just one unit, you be running on your system 4 compressor which will used up more electricity.

if u get 2 compressor, u have to pay more for another set of warrantly plus servicing too. For me, i installed system 4. Living room we will on like during weekend if we are at home during the day.
