Central Water Heater - Do You Turn On Whole Day?

Recommended Posts

Hi i have installed a central water heater at my home and i am not sure whether there will be more cost savings to turn on the heater the whole day, or only turn on when i want to use?

For those who have a central water heater, do you turn on whole day? I read some articles that the central water heater has a built in thermostat to control temp of water and does not matter if turn on whole day. Some ppl tell me the heater will take up more electricity if turn on/off as need to reboil the water. Some ppl think otherwise.

I am confused. can advice? Thanks

I do not turn it on the whole day. It will be waste of electricity for the water to keep boiling on and off just to maintain a certain temperature when no one is using it. Not to mention, electrical tariffs are forever going up. Don't want to pay extra $$$ for nothing. For our family, 5-10 mins prior to bath time, the heater will be switched on. Once bath time is over, the heater is switched off. HTHs.
