Renovation Changes Without Notice To Owner!

Recommended Posts

Hi Tiler Seng

Thanks for your guidance.

Here's the picture of my custom made bedframe with round edge.

I have not taken the picture of my TV console but will do so tonight when I go down to visit the site.

Question, What does the owner of the house need to do during handover of the project from the reno contractor?

My Reno ID somehow removed my opennet fibre Broadband box from the existing flat.

Can reno contractor fix them back by buying the cable and box themselves to install in my flat or I have to get opennet to come install it?

For your tv console and bed-frame, the laminate can be bend by postforming.

That will be more costly and also may affect the work schedule, as the postform parts need to be outsource to a specialist postforming company.

The hinges shown are standard with 3-way adjustment, and the brands are OEM, likely made in China.

Your issue of the hinge is more likely from the alignments, as can be seen from the pix exposed drilled hole, the mounting-plate was re-fixed.

Hi Gettome

How much is a standard 3-way adjustment hinges cost?

Made in China price and those mid range price?

Would like to compare the price to understand better in case if the hinges break down in future I can change to a better one to last longer.

Thanks.

Is there any restriction or requirement for PD Door?

My reno ID agreed to change the wrongly installed bifold doors to my required PD Door but they tell us that they can only change 2 out of 3 bifold toilet doors to PD door due to 1 of the door Size cannot change to PD door.

Sounds like a BS to me...

Need advice. Thanks.

Unlikely that the hinge will break down as even the MiC hinges are good for 30,000 opening cycles :)

The plating are not that good though, and rusting can happen early due to our tropical humidity.

Replacements will need to follow the current hinges cup-size and drilling-holes, and most of the MiC hinges should be replaceable with a DTC or the Italian-made FGV from our local hardware shops.

Hope you haven't made the full payment.

This co sounds like it's in financial trouble since it's trying it's darnest to cut costs...

Unfortunately if they are truly going bust, I think no amount of complaining will get them to rectify...

Really wish there were more consumer rights...

Thanks Gettome

Guess now my biggest challenge will be the drawers as they will stopped halfway when I try to close them with 1 push.

Must insist my reno ID to rectify this if not changing it will be a big headache as the runners will be expensive even for a DTC.

I don't know what brand they are using but it is black in color and the worker tell me it stopped halfway is due to too many dirt and dust blocking the runner.

So after cleaning it, it should work fine.

Wonder if this is also BS...???

The whole issue started when the ID gave me a discount before I sign and after few weeks later, his boss found out that he underquote.

In order to work within the budget he instructed the worker to use the most cost-effective materials which turn out to be like this.

Take note:

  • are the slides hidden at the bottom of the drawer or visible at the side of the drawers
  • the depth/length of the drawer box vs the length of the slides
  • roller or ball-bearing slides
