Bad Experience With After Sales Service Ariston Thermo

Recommended Posts

So,

let me intro myself, I am not competitor of Ariston thermo whatsoever. I am a homeowner, previously on Renotalk under userid Nin's since 2007 when we first bought our new place and did the first reno. I got (at that time) good reno recommendation from the members here, Kevin GPlan in 2007. Since I haven't login for very long time, I cant remember my password here so re-register with new email :)

to come to my experience Ariston:

in our current place, in 2011 we installed 2 x Inox 80L, 1 to share between 2 common bathroom and 1 at MBR. Since then every year must replace thermostat. Since it's not under warranty after 1 year, ok-lah we paid n paid. but each time we have service report to ensure the new thermostat receive 1 year warranty.

in 2014, 2 years before warranty expired, the one at the common BR leaking so we called the distributor at that time was CASA , and it got replaced with a workmanship fee of about S$350 (maybe 380 ish) including additional cut on the false ceiling. all in all from reporting to replacement took abt 1 week. Each time they came for a visit / repair, there was service report.

Last week, we had the one in MBR leaking. I thought it was just another thermostat, so I called the usual Ariston guy, he came and saw it was leaking. He said to replace it would cost S$780 for exactly same model. It is still under warranty until March 2016 so I called the new company, Ariston THermo. They sent their contractor to assess which costs S$60, deductible from the service if done. Contractor told us verbally it would cost S$280 to replace and cut additional portion of the false ceiling, so since we paid $60, only balance S$220 so we agreed verbally (they didn't produce any service report). Since Tuesday I have not received any call from Ariston regarding the new schedule, so I called. Guess what.. this new company wants to charge S$280 (- S$60) for the workmanship, and their own contractor will charge us additional for the cutting of ceiling etc, and total they will bill us S$500+. We never did hear about this extra charge when the contractor told us abt the fees, he only said S$280. - S$60 so we need to pay $220 if we decide to replace it with Ariston. When I asked Ariston how come this bill is so big compared to the previous year CASA billed us (1 bill) they said that's the way. Basically they said take it or leave it. The CS told me to go find cheaper contractor to do the cutting. But their contractor never marked where to cut, so how to cut correctly?? Different technician deals with movement slightly different ways. If the cut done by external contractor does not fit their own appointed contractor, then how?

So hubby and I discussed, and we decided to not deal anymore with Ariston since even if we get new ariston, next year when it leaks again (it doesn't last long) we have to deal with this issue again, get a Rheem instead! This new Ariston co is definitely not the same as before. I think they want to charge the S$280 so they don't have to absorb the replacement heater as much! we had Ariston WH in the kitchen before, abt 25L, which leaked every year or so. The repair costs under CASA was not so bad, but our false ceiling was damaged due to the multiple leakages, so we gave up and replaced it with a Rheem.

Ok Enough ranting from me! For anyone who wanna hear abt Ariston WH, there is no way I can recommend anymore now! I am usually OK with companies making mistakes but sincere in making things right. but this company definitely not one of those as they have the take it or leave it style, so we are cutting them off!
