  1. My house is gg to be completed soon. Will post pics of the 'completed' product by next week so stay tuned!!

However, have something that Iwould like to seek advice from fellow reno-talkers...

My MBR wall as well as my Guest room Wall seem to have a serious water seepage problem from the outside. Mine is corner unit and the flat is like 23-25 years old already. Hence, I think the condition of the exterior is quite bad.

I had my whole house plastered and painted. However, after about 1 week from the plastering and the painting, I noticed that my wall in the MBR and Guestroom has lots of air bubbles!!

    wall3gb9.th.jpg

This is definitely not my ID's faut and it was nice of him to help me mark those very obvious spots and told me that he will get the painter to paint some oil sealant over them before repainting. However, this is definitely not a long term solution as I suspect after a week or so, the bubbles will return again :(

Does anyone have such experience and know how to tackle it? I was thinking of getting HDB to rectify but I highly doubt they will bother with only 1 unit on the 10th floor. :(

air bubbles on wall normally is the paint cannot stick well to the cement.

so if just air bubbles, what i do is to scrape off all the paint that can be scraped, then apply wall putty. if not flushed with the wall, then apply another coat of wall putty. after it dry, sand it smooth. then apply a few coats of paint to cover up. if bubble contains water, means outside the cement got cracks liao so water seeps in when rain. if that happens, call up ur town council to patch up the crack, den scrape off the paint and apply wall putty.

  2. so big a scratch sure can see la... let him do his stuffs..he never rectify den dun agree to the handover loh. think most prob the tile got to change, but no problem with that as tilers can change tiles quite professionally. i have a few tiles oso retile, cant even tell the difference.

  3. My house is super noisy too... I'm living next to an S11 coffeeshop so it's open 24-7... a Community Club, a food centre and a wet market...plus it's also next to a road junction....and....not to mention the fighter jets that zoom past at least once or twice a week.... :bangwall:

My current solution?... close the main windows that face the coffeeshop and road, leave the small window open and turn on the fan to cool down the room... no choice... as the others have said, just have to live with it... for me, it's a trade-off I guess for the convenience of all the amenities around me... :dunno:

Yes i agree. i live in the same area but on Yung An road opp CC. i think the killer for me is the CC, my god the events they had all goes well into the night on the weekends. Dunno why this CC very happening.

  7. Wooden door or Steel door?

unless u use air brush, it is common to see brittles lines.

u need to paint several coats, using good brushes and gently brush without heavy forces onto the surface.

Quick dry paint is thinner base which is use on steel surface. Remember to use the same thinner base surface coat. (if u add thinner as a solvent on those turpentine base paint, u get 'jellies', the paint curdle.

    thks for the reply.

    its a wooden door.

i already gave up, so i just sand down the base coat to make the bristle lines less obvious, and cover up with 1 coat of oil-base type glossy paint. although still a little "liney", but i already very sianz doing that stupid door already. :curse::curse:

  8. Plumber just fixed the PVC pipe to join chrome bottle-trap to concealed wall drainage pipe under my two wash basins. Don't have a vanity top/cabinet, so these pipes below can be seen clearly. Yellow marks are so obvious between PVC and drainage pipe too.

I've asked him a few times already if there's another way to improve on this connection and was told this is the best and only way.

Is this true? Would appreciate any advice or info. Thanks!

why not PVC all the way? looks strange like that with metal joining plastic.

  10. Mkt carnage...need to save on reno...is hdb optional items like flooring and doors cheap?

HDB charging $360 per door for bedrooms and kitchen doors....

For living room, bedrooms flooring it $3900 for 5 room.......

Anyone here can advise me? Thanks.

shld be cheaper, but not necessary to your liking.

  11. hi

i've stripped away a layer of paint from the door, and applied this "quick dry base coat" (paint shop auntie recommend) on the door. but i applied using paint brush and i can see the base coat not even, with lines (like the brush bristles) running all over on the door surface. applying paint on this liney surface can still see these lines, so what should i do now?
