Ops Lawry, cant use ur design. Contractor said it'll cost me another $200. Told me not to waste my $. But she insisted that the S/S strip will be bulging out at the edge. Tat one quite funny cos explorere's house one nicely done. Anyway, dun spend the $ ba. Save for other stuff

Yes. Mine's a new flat. Guess no choice. Cant turn it off cos I have placed a wardrobe in front of the aircon ledge! My first home so dunnoe wats the utilies bill wil be like. But can still find some electricity and water savings tips to use just in case. I use Walch (Not Dettol cos cheaper haha) and water but then I guess the flat is vacant for say 2 years? The dirt really stuck there and cannot be washed or wiped off easily. I have to use my finger nails to slowly dig out. All those corners and screw edges so small! Possible that I pour some chemcials on these stubborn dirt and leave it for a while before I clean again?
-
Does tat mean air-con even when turn off the switch still running on electricity? Must turn off main power ah? Isn't tat very troublesome as the power outlet is outside the window ledge? (at least for my case) Talking about windows. Need advice. I am going to move over to my new place. The windows are full of dust and dirt that are embedded into the screws and corners of the windows. How do I get rid of these dirt?

oh dear, so i have to call my agent and changed to a bigger W/M then. Haiz I thot I got cheap bargain cos I onli got it for $259. I read tat the con for big w/m is tat there is a minimum load, so can't wash small quantity of clothes. But ur point tat we shouldn't over load the w/m oso true. Will reduce the lifespan of the machine. Another qn: Is it really more wasteful to wash 2 loads of clothes in a small w/m as compared to 1 load in a big w/m. In the sense of electricity and water consmption. LOL Lawry, I was expecting you to get the LG 6.5kg too! Wats the brand of ur washer? If oso LG, then I'll get 7.5kg too cos realize my w/m base too small for bigger w/m. Haiz. Mis-calculation on my side.
-
I'm gg to ask a silly question. Wats the correct size to buy for a family of 4? I have ordered a 6.5kg LG w/m, which is not delivered yet. However, I was told that in order to wash a queen-sized quilt, I need at least a 8kg w/m. Is tat true? I was told to even buy 10Kg but currently my MIL uses 7kg for a family of 6 adults and 2 kids oso like tat. Hence chose tat 6.5kg w/m (Currently we dun have comforters or quilt to wash - BUT for new house have ) Seriously need advice. Thanks!

Lawry, You are a GENIUS! You really should take designing instead. Cos you seem so good at those graphic design software! haha well, I guess can try to pyscho my contractor to give me another small balck glass and a matt S/S. Anyway the kitchen already dark, so no diff by adding another small piece . "Waterproof mirror"? Like those mirrors that are sutiable to be used in toilets? well black mirror oso may have the same problem of the edge not being able to hide nicely. YES! I agree, one more small piece will make no difference lol At least it's consistent as you had said. I din notice ur S/S sides carefully. So is the edge hidden nicely, in a way it won't cut by its sides?
-
yeah lawry, I saw how "RUSTY" ur IKEA products became. So gross! Well I guess I can onli wait until my S/S accessories rust then change too. Actuali I notice Song Cho oso sell glass shelf but too bad the glass is not fixed to to the clamps, so scared it will fall and break. But I guess they realli specialize in their metal items cos keep pushing me to buy their corner metal racks, saying it's easier to clean than glass. (I've decided to buy glass despite the danger lol)
-
I agree my toilet oso normal. Onli overlay toilet floors and not the walls, so cannot have nice nice hotel toilet look. lol well il think song cho has been proven to be the best S/S in the market. Hence no sales for years and still going strong. If I buy S/S, I am also considering this brand. (My common toilet's towel rack din get to buy Song Cho cos in a rush of time haiz. But the towl rack already cost me $45 when I saw similar ones for $30! It's like if buy cheap, buy the cheapest ma )
-
but glass shelf looks more class leh. so your children press hard hard on the shampoo bottles oso no problem la? tats y i oso headache scared they very rough then press too hard break the glass and hurt themselves. But hubby ask me to be the hardworking one. when the kids bathe, take the shampoo down for them lol
-
So can anyone advise whether should add another glass panel for this side of the wall? My contractor say not nice cos cannot hide the edge, which is true. Then it'll be very very dark ard the basin area. But is it nice with a sudden splash of white tiles there?
-
yup. I did one fixed panel shower screen for my MBR onli. Common toilet dun have as need more space to wash clothes? lol I have forgotten to buy the shampoo rack. Sld I get glass shelves or stainless steel ones? Both Tony dun recommend. He prefers I buy a S/S rack and place it on the floor cos he feels that when we keep pressing the shampoo on the glass shelves or S/S shelves, the screws will become loose and the shelves may fall. But he said that if I very 'good luck' take the shampoo down and press on the floor, then the shelves can last longer. lol

Yes i understand. I think all old flats are like tat. My marital home at Clementi and in-laws house at Jurong oso have exposed pipes. But luckily old folks dun have modern concept or zen design. So they don't mind. I'm not sure whether pipings really cannot be concealed cos HDB oso did tat for new flats. So why not old ones? Maybe you wanna check with HDB? Tis time choose reliable contractor. You can choose manygood ones from RT.
-
well all the pipes are concealed. NO ugly pipings.
-
Common toilet: Simple with only the towel rack, glass shelf and mirror. PS. Wanna thank Henry from Royal Fanco for allowing me to exchange my original toilet accessories set (7pcs set) to these simple items. (though I have to top up - 7 pcs for 3 pcs haha) MBR toilet Actuali are the positions ok? Any other accessories that I miss out? Aiyo headache haha

hee one of the drawers is retarded. My carpenter explained that the drawer is shallow. Hence, even when they use shorter runners, the drawer still cannot open and close smoothly. Haiz. But I guess no choice. He already came a few times so dun trouble him le if he tried his best. Today contractor gg to mop and clean the place up. I plan to clean up again on Friday (Labor Day not relax day for me ) Use feather duster to clear right? haha Any better ways to get rid of the dust? lol
-
My rainshower and toilet accessories oso installed.

Thank you gongkia. Here's more updates of my reno. My glass backing is up It's really dark as neighbours had warned. So waste elecrtricity on the lights lo. Even during day time, it's also so dark haha Need your opinions. Do i need to add another glass panel at the basin area? It'll be very very dark but then tat patch of white is it ugly?

All Tanglin Halt Road Neighbours! Report In Here!
Kari replied to zirhk3355's topic in District 01, 02 ,03, 04, 05
How you cap their utilities fees? I mean the electricity bill comes for the whole house. (pardon my ignorance) Still thanks for offering to help. Yup will find you when we want to rent Yes. We are currently staying in Jurong. The wind was really much stronger than usual. When we opened the window to peek (a small opening), all the tiny leaflets just blew straight into our living room! Luckily no car alarms going off or trees falling at our side. At the most just random items like plastic bags flying everywhere. lol -

Hee thanks zirhk3355. Mine's the normal type, so I guess I'm An Wei le. Not a wrong buy. A neighbour who is an estate agent pop by and told me onli $500 to $600 with aircon and internet services plus a fully furnished room of course. LOL She wants us to rent out a room immediately when reno is completed cos people will like everything brand new and will get higher rental. True? I thot location matters? haha Next time we want to rent, I PM you for help can? -
yup overall, not so bad. Reno may not be smooth all the way, but at least retifications or solutions were provided eventually. There's no complaints or black face given. She's not very calculative over certain items and services provided. Like my addition of the plank of wood, she's onli charging me for the workmanship. $100 plus for the laminate wood. She oso help me to mount my TV and Home Theatre system for free. She's not obliged to but she offered without me asking. So yes again, I'm pleased.
-
And this is the final product ! The TV points and power points nicely done, making use of the exisitng points from the bedroom next door Can you see the original TV point besides the door? Tats how far my TV will be initially. Now it's gotta be right in front of my bed. Hurray!
-
Lastly, I want to thank my contractor for saving my life! haha This is the disaster I caused cos the TV point is already there and hubby was angry with me being so brainless to place the TV so far (He's blind ) So we initially thot just have to live w/ the ugly wiring since the laminated flooring N platform already done N wiring cant be concealed underneath the floor anymore But my smart contractor din blur blur agree with us. He made use of the TV point from my duaghter's room. Wa La! No ugly wiring !

My painter, Pang Tai (A Myanmar worker) oso very nice. As I'm using dark colors for my living room and MBR walls, it is impossible for him to do touch up. There will definitely be different patches of color tones. It is time consuming to repaint the walls but my contractor kept her words. It really wasn't a touch up. It was repainting the whole wall at no additional cost. Dunnoe whether you can see the different color tone on the same wall. but I'm really pleased with my contractor. I understand normal is 2 days of painting, 1 day for touch up. Mine is 2 days of paitning and 2 days of touch up (whereby the 2 days of touch up means re-painitng the whole wall so almost the same as 4 days of paitning!) Those that can be done, like patching up the holes and trying his best to smoothen HDB wavy walls are done carefully. The only thing I'm upset is why wasn't plastering inside my quote! If I had known that plastering is needed to make the walls smooth and for paint to look nicer, i will have requested for it. But heard it's not cheap haha. Next time ba I guess.

I oso want to praise the workers who did the granite top. Very neat work. this one is the granite ard the sink area. Cut nicely to the wall. This pic is the granite besides my tall cabinet. There's no problem with the granite not being aligned with the wall or cabinets.
-
My carpenter oso very nice. He knows I'm putting heavy items in the drawers, so we all know the runners may support 100kg but can the drawer base last so long? So from the original 2 plank of wood, he added another 2 to make 4 planks of wood as support. . ALL FOUR DRAWERS
