Hi, I have just collected by keys to my resale 5 room design plus flat. We only realised that the living room/bedroom ceiling is strangely low (abt 2.45m) but the kitchen ceiling is normal at 2.6m. My seller commented that because it is design plus hence HDB has bulit slight false ceiling for concealed wiring. Is it true? And can we hack away the false ceiling slab? We are abit upset because this might affect our plans to install economical ceiling fans to cool the place down. Can someone helps us on this? Thanks!

Nesh, congrats! I don't think there is a problem coz im sure there will be drop-out. This batch includes 100plus flats that will only be completed in 2011. You ok with those? I'm going for resale already. Very disappointed with the whole hdb system. My friend, who is a 2-timer (=1 chance), gets a queue no. 3x for Sept Balloting. And I have 4 chance but gets such a horrible no. Actually I will support the notion to ban 2nd timer from all balloting exercise. Sorry for all the ranting. Need to let go of the steam.

Result is out. With 4x chances, i still get 12xx out of 1756 applicants. This is ridiculous.

Nesh, I believe there are 5,000 plus applicants for 4 rooms at Jurong West. And I'm one of them. Boo. Although i have 4 chances at the Sept Balloting, I'm not confident of getting a good no. after the bad experience in Oct which i'm given 4 chances too! Anyway, let's hope for the best. Hopefully we can be neighbours at Tah Ching road. The environment there is really nice and quaint.

Hi, Will there still be an Oct balloting? If I submit my application for September Balloting, would I be able to submit another application for October Balloting if there is? I want to get a flat asap in the Jurong West area (Taman Jurong, Jurong West St 64 or even Jalan Bahar) but it seem so impossible now. Really regret not applying for flats a year ago. Abit out of the point but flats are very expensive nowsaday!

Ms Polar, your place looks nice and cozy. I'm going to renovate my premium 5 floor end this year and is rather tight on budget too. Possible to PM who your ID or Contractor is and how much the reno cost? Thanks a million
