Pardon my ignorance. How does a water pressure meter work? keke. i even have to google for a picture, to see how does the gadget looks like. anybody care to share?
-
Not me. Although it seems like a refreshing idea, however, i wonder how much savings can we achieve? The savings might not be substantiate to compensate for the additional trouble in co-ordinating? My feel is that the ID/Contractor might have marked up to a higher costing for the cabinets alone.

Perhaps, u can check out http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?ac...amp;s=&f=66

Currently, i'm doing up my EM too... I dun mind sharing with you my quotes, just to let you have a rough feel of the mkt price for comparison. But i've gotto make it clear that due to budget constrains, my renovation ain't as extensive / comprehensive as yours, and i've to forgo some of the items that were originally quoted. I'm using these prices with the assumption that your floor area is the same as mine... (anyway, floor area for EMs are abt the same) From those items you indicated, my sheer gut feel is, at least $60000 for your renovation, excluding the purchase of accessories and lightings (which is possibly at least another $10000) Those price indicated in red were those quoted to me.

Hey mister_molly. Just to share, since u are having a deep tub. Today, some one told me abt, there is this 'portable system' in the market, whereby u can insert into your deep bathtub, to have the jaccuzzi effect. And accordingly, this system originates from Taiwan, claims to have some 'therapeutic' health benefits...

Actually, i'm skeptical to those with legs, feels insecure as it seems may topple? ashes02: can i check with you, wats the dimensions for the bathtub in your picture?
-
Actually, it wasn't how much am i willing to spend... as originally i dun even have a rough gauge on how much it cost? I've preferred these type of stand alone type as its looks more clean cut, and without the hassle of laying tiles. After some shopping, i was brought down to earth. Yes, I've been to BATHWORLD, and even directly opposite, there is another shop called Ideal. Wow... nice bath tubs they hold... but the price range is $2500 - $5000.... there was another shop that told me, a designer bathtub can even cost ard $11,000... So i've to be realistic with my budget... Sure! For this long weekend, I'll be combing Jalan Besar, check out mister_molley's, and also the one in Eunos (as happyharu8 mentioned) Thanks everyone for responding. Would appreciate it, if any others like to add on...

Any idea whats the price range like? Or if there any other venues around the area to shop? I'm really keen on getting one, and have been searching around. It ain't accessible for me to travel all the way to Changi, juz to see a few display. And what if the pricing ain't favourable??

Actually, I'm quite confused too... I've read from some of the product specifications of the water heaters. (Since I'm getting one too, so need to do some research) From what i've read. http://www.amasco.com.sg/products_detail.a...D=73&scID=8 Apparently, Amasco Storage Water heater has an output rate of Rated Water Pressure 12bar / 1.2mpa Does it mean if this the normal or maximum output rate? Also if, will there be other factors that may influence the output pressure?? Just to add on. I think Joven's heater is preset at 10 bars. http://www.joven-electric.com/product_elec.../horizontal.asp Safety Pressure Relief & Drain Valve Pre-set to 10 bars to prevent tank rupture.

Yup, Totally agree... The surface will only look solid without any joints. The whole thing should be ONE SOLID PIECE... thats why we are paying such a premium price.

Me juz wonder... How much was Jack paid for the advertisement?? Seems like an extensive advertisement... Seeing him everywhere... On TV, Taxis, etc... Ultimately, all these cost of advertising... was it eventually relayed to consumers?? Are we (as consumers) paying a higher prices, so as to cover Jack's pocket? Would the aircon been cheaper without all these advertisment?

Is My Tiling Quote Ok? Kitchen N 2 Toilets
swift replied to lanesraki's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
sounds fair to me. -
Gotto acknowledge that they (hauhauparquet.com) were indeed responsive. Originally, i was still having doubts, on the validity of their (hauhauparquet.com)- website. So i sent them some queries, and i was pleasantly impressed that they responded within a day. Will be meeting up with them during the weekends. Lets hope for a more favourable quote.

Oh! I completely overlooked these features for consideration, when i sought for quotes. Not too late still, just gotto make sure my ID or carpenter factor in such anti slam mechanisms. Thanks.

Hi, I'm looking for those stand alone, portable bathtubs, similiar to those below. Anybody knows where can i find them? Many many Thanks.

Re-do Tiles For Whole Unit
swift replied to freddyprince's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Kinda agree with pinkpetter's approach. If the condition of kitchen and toilet tiling is alright, then you may consider leaving them alone. i.e. avoid hacking. Apart from incurring cost in hacking, From what i understand, the moment you decide to hack it, you may have to consider tiling it back, as the difference in cost cost ain't that much between plastering and tiling it back. -
My ID quoted me $1900 (not yet incl GST hor) for 3 bed rooms! Rediculous!! Luckily with this forum, i'm able to pick up a rough guage of a reasonable pricing. But that's not end of my woes. As i'm currently in the midst of renovation, unfortunately, after hacking away some existing features in the room namely wardrobe and a cabinet (in another room), I discovered that the area underneath these carpentry were raw, i.e. only cement, not laid with the parquet. So i will need to engage flooring specialist to patch and make good these affected area. Any takers?

Yup, couldn't agree more with 2ndtime. Chimney hood nice to see, but not practical to use. The chimney part is nothing but a hollow shell. Personally, i rather have the storage space.
-
I was quite ignorant abt that too, but after speaking to some of the helpful shop assistants (i'm currently doing some shopping) I was advised that it does really make a great difference. Use the storage heater for more pleasure. Hey! mackeith Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Sounds really pro. Will definitely keep a l@@kout for such details.

Me juz returned from a shop along balestier. I really felt so ignorant. I'm surprised that there are so many brands in the market. Just to name a few (as i've their catalogue with me but all looks the same to me) ELLANE, HOBZ, TECHNO GAS, TURBO, UNO Can someone please advise? Which is the 'value for money', in other words, cheap and good? For the oven, is it really necessary to get those with built in oven??

40k For 4 Room?
swift replied to himiten's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Its already an established fact that the China workers are Jack of all trade, but Master of none. China workers can BSBH (Bao Swa Bao Hai) Same person can do Everything, from hacking, tiling, carpentry, and etc. Plainly labour, no skills involved. I think you and i can match their standard of output. Personally, i feel that most ID firms won't dare risk using such workers or run the risk of tarnishing their reputation. Irony part is... what if your ID also engage China workers? Will you / or hubby be able to detect? Are you all going to station yourselves at the site to screen their identification?? Honestly, it was an enjoyable process for us, going ard sourcing for IDs and Contractors to do the renovation. Your hubby and you shd enjoy it too. Spend some time, going ard, meet these people, bring along a floorplan of your house, telling them what/how you intend to renovate, and let them get back to you with quotes, advises and ideas. At the end of the day, you would have gain a feel of the average market pricing, and also be able to firm up the thoughts of what you wanna do with the house. You would also be able to shortlist the more sincere IDs whom you / and hubby felt comfortable working with. As for those material which your ID cited. I guess its just a ploy to 'persuade' you guys to sign up with him. Well, again... Just another thinker for you. Will other IDs be using defective materials, or 'inferior' materials that won't last? Then becomes more cumbersome having to provide aftersales services. If you wanna be concise, you can ask for what specific type / brand of material that your ID intend to use. True enough, some brands may be more expensive, but then again, you can check with other IDs, tell them to quote using these material. Let me sign off with... the price quoted to me for the hacking of my wall. I was quoted abt $150 for hacking off 1.5m of wall. Based on your pricing, are you hacking 7.5m of wall? -
I find it strange, you mentioned "because according to my husband, he wants to find a resale flat which will need total renovation" Honestly, first time i come across someone looking for a flat that needs total renovation. I guess maybe its a typo error? Usually, people looking for flats that requires minimal reno, so as to save cost. Anyway, you can easily find a flat to give it total renovation, so long as you can afford it. I can't advise on the estimated quote, but i dun mind sharing with you the prices quoted to me for your reference and bench mark. Mine is a resale EM. 1) Do tiling for whole house (or maybe just kitchen, toilet, depending on budget) 2) Renovate toilet (as in toiletbowl, sink, heater etc, need to install new ones) 3) Windows (need to install new ones) 4) Doors (need to install new ones) 5) Hacking (like tiles/walls) 6) Renovate kitchen 7) Install lighting, fans 8) Laying of cable/electrical cable Item 1- 6 cost me $32k (inclusive of plumbing and painting job) Item 7 - i assume is for the purchase of lights, cost me $2k (this is subjective, depending on individual's demand) Item 8 - i assume is for the electrical job. (about $3k for rewiring) Others that you gotto factor in. Purchase of Toilet and Bathroom Accessories - My budget is $5k. Again depending on individual's demand and budget.
