  1. Selling this square dining table with tempered glass top and steel frames. Includes 4 chairs. All for $200. This was bought at POSH Studio previously Self collection in Punggol. http://s576.photobucket.com/user/cjack67/media/20141207_090225-1.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 http://s576.photobucket.com/user/cjack67/media/20141207_090059.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1 http://s576.photobucket.com/user/cjack67/media/20141207_090051.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2 http://s576.photobucket.com/user/cjack67/media/20141207_085949.jpg.html?sort=3&o=3
  2. Am planning to redo some parts of my kitchen. Would appreciate if contractors can quote me for the following if you are reading this. - 32 feet L shaped kitchen cabinet ( about 16 feet on top and 16ft at the bottom) - Tear down existing kitchen cabinet - about 14 feet granite top - 3 feet wide, full height shoe cabinet - 6 feet TV console with feature wall - 5 feet x 8 feet high wardrobe - 4 feet study table - vinyl flooring for about 700 sq feet flooring - Frosted tempered glass for kitchen entrance - 6 feet x 2 feet cabinets for recess beside window -1 x king size bed with storage at the bottom. ( high platform type) I more or less know what kind of design I need. One I find someone with a reasonable price, I can then plan out the exact design and finalise the pricing
  3. Hi Am looking for the mirror finish laminates for the kitchen cabinets. Some call it super glossy. As anyone seen these kind of laminates in SG? If so, whereabouts can I take a look at these? I have a couple of pictures and will figure out how to post it here. Thanks
  4. For T5, if you have 10, all you need is actually just 1 lighting point. You can then just join the adjoining ones by yourself, as it is just a matter of joining all of them in a straight line. If you look at the T5 lights that you bought, you will know what I mean as each of them can just snap into each other. The electrician will charge you $30 for this. You can save a lot by doing this yourself after they lay the first point.
  5. I used Supreme's timber flooring for my master room and 1 common road. It cost me $1400, including labour and the skirting. I enquired about the raised floor for the whole of one common room and was quoted $1000 for it. I had hacked 2 rooms into 1.
  6. I have arranged for some custom made curtains from abroad and they have arrived. Do you folks here know any shops in the north east (I live in punggol) that can come to my place and install the curtain rods and brackets for the living room and master rooms? Can be any shop that provides this service for that matter. Thanks
  7. Agree...just a lighting point for each cove will do. I have more than 20 T5 in my flat and could have saved at least $700. Its so simple to fix the subsequent lights. Moderators, is there anything we can do to highlight this article so that future fellow forummers can read this and save some $$$.
  8. Just wondering, what is the average cost that the IDs charge for installing T5 lights for the cove lighting? I was inspecting the ligt holder and noticed that on each end, there is a socket. Hence, if you need to connect 6 light sets, all it takes is to connect the sockets in parallell. There is no additional wiring needed except for the one connecting to the main switch. This is my layman observation. If that is the case, why do the IDs charge us $40 for each T5 that we install? Is this how it is practiced in the industry? I can understand it for downlights as they need to cut a hole in the false ceiling and run the wiring. But why is the same pricing model applied for T5? Can anyone share their experience or am I taken for a ride?
  9. Just to check, if there a GST component for the quote? I was quoted for GST and noticed some of the other quotes, did not include GST. Wonder if this is an hidden cost.
  10. Has anyone installed a steam room in a HDB toilet. Saw one which comes with a rain shower, steam, music, massage blasts, etc Was quoted about $3000 by AOS bathroom. Or is there anywhere else where I can look these up with other stores? Last but not least, I was recommended by another store than a multipoint heater can be used instead of a storage unit for rain shower. It seems a multi point can provide the necessary pressure. Is this true? Thanks in advance.
  11. After weeks of reading and getting about 7 design ideas and various quotes, I finally agreed to engage ***. I know there are some bad reviews in this forum about them, but I liked the design proposed by the ID. Plus, what I liked about him is, he LISTENED to what I want and he incorporated it into the design. Met quite a few who listened to me, but in the end came up with their own ideas. There was one ID who did not even allow me to put a LCD TV in my room, saying its bad for my eyes. Last but not least, he is someone I was with in the army some 20 years ago. Just happened to bump into him at the "Modern Living" exbihibition at the Expo. So I am rest assured,he will look into my flat with care. I did highlight to him about the bad reviews and made sure that the same thing will not happen to me. I can be a tough customer when I want to be, even if it means its a friend Will keep all posted on the reno as it moves along. Its a simple reno, nothing fancy.
  12. Just a quick update..... I have more or less decided on what I want to do. I am pretty much been dealing with IDs as opposed to using a contractor, which is really the direction I may go for. However, even the contractor's quote is quite similar to the ID. Perhaps someone can advice me on a few things 6ft full height wardrobe - ID quote me $1300. How is a average contractors price? supply wall tiles for bathroom - ID quote me $1400. Contractor's price is? hack bathroom wall and floor tiles. ID is $600. (400+200). Contractor's price is? Tv console with feature wall. ID quote me about $2000. I have asked a few more quotes from some contractors today. Am waiting to see to compare. In the meantime, would appreciate some advice from you folks. Thanks
  13. anyone has comments on the ID, theInteriorplace Their website is http://www.theinteriorplace.com.sg/ Their designs look nice, but wonder if they are pricey.
  14. Just checked the HDB website today and my first appointment is on the 17th of Feb...this is what I was hoping for as I want to do and early completion. Hopefully, completion is within 5 weeks and I get to move in by April 1. Yet to engage a contractor, but I guess I will just go for Plush Living.
  15. It was love at first sight for me after I saw this unit. I saw about 20 units and after I saw this, I knew that I don't have to look any further. As for the price, I paid $15k below valuation. It was a bargain and the owners did not want to prolong looking for a better offer as they had kept it vacant for the past 5 years anyway. In all honesty, all it needs is some good light designs, nice curtains, aircon and a makeover of the master bathroom and its good to move in. In view of financial crisis, I am thinking of cutting back on unnecessary reno and keep the cash for a rainy day.
